  • In June 2023, more than 120 community members joined the Main Street Promise Project for an open house to share draft designs and gather feedback for the future of Vancouver's historic Main Street. Construction of an accessible, safe and vibrant Main Street, from 5th to 15th streets, is expected to start in 2024. This animation gives you a sneak peek at the transformative design!

I'm not sure how this is an improvement. It looks pretty barren and dull. Theres a tree here and there but over all it doesn't look vastly different than it does now. Where is all the money going?

Glad it shows reality: cars running stop signs

Can’t wait, looks like a great improvement. Love the removal of the diagonal parking and the leveling of the sidewalks , will make it feel like a cozier Main Street

My first feedback thought: Separating bikers from cars in any way possible would be worlds better. It’s not very bike friendly when a simple bike icon is printed on a car road, then fades away over time. Not safe with the amount of people here in 10 years.

It doesn't look like anything especially drastic but I for one have been fairly impressed with the investments that the city has made over the years so I don't have a hard time supporting these additional projects. I'd love for Main street to be something a little "more", so I'm excited!

So you painted bikes onto the car lanes to confuse drivers, and put up string lights to entice people to try to break. Neat!
What about making this more realistic? The pedestrians in this video are walking like only a robot could do, so they must be aliens from California. I cannot and nobody currently living on Earth can walk this fast as humans. Unnatural. It is a little surprising nobody knew this. All the people are young, none have disabilities…no limp, no walker, no wheelchair, none looked to have dreadlocks or unique hair styles we see around here, nobody was fat or extremely obese but all were exactly the same size it seemed. Definitely a future plan to gentrify out the current population then!
Additionally all those cars look modern, new, washed, clean, and are definitely not realistic. You need to have them filled with clothing, trunks tied down, bumpers missing, also huge tires on big trucks, and a couple with a huge flag and a MAGA hat person driving.
Where is the graffiti? Where are the trash cans? Where are planters hanging with flowers in them? Where are the artwork installations? Where are the boarded up windows? Where are the homeless laying under a shaded doorway with a cardboard sign for help?
    Ah the details matter!
