One thing you should do is CUT the barbs off the stem leaving little nubs and also flatten the stem, and tie only the bare, flattened stem in to the post. The nubs left from the barbs grab the post/thread better and the flattened stem is more secure and won’t roll. Also, right now you have barbs sticking straight up along the post. You eliminate the vertical barbs by tying a bare stem into the post. Also, when you tie in around the base, turn your hook so the post is horizontal, then you will be wrapping up and over versus around, it’s much easier. I will also say that your post is going to spin around the shank…guaranteed. You should apply the super glue to the post before tying in the hackle or tie the post in differently so it doesn’t spin. There are way to do it so glue isn’t needed. Waxing the thread helps a great deal.
the way charlie craven ties a parachute is by far the easiest, quickest and most durable way to tie a parachute..a right handed tyer wraps the hackle counter clockwise and a left handed tyer wraps clockwise..you should have added sum superglue after you tied your post to stiffen it up before the hackle was wrapped..i would never ever not whip finish a fly that im going to fish with..how would you prevent glue from getting on your hackle when u tie 16 and size 18's...
termite122 I have tied them for years and years this way with no issue with quality or durability. I think I’ll continue to do it for years and years this way.
Very well explained clear and concise, many thanks for taking the time out Bud.

Lift the hackle and apply glue with a fine needle.
Could you sub UV resin for super glue?
Is that one of your expensive Flash hackles?
What type of camera do you use for this? I'm trying to figure out what camera to use to record with.
hi there, any substitute for the parachute material?
question for you, what if your para post i made of calf tail, or deer hair, what method do you use then?,
Thanks,
You can use the same method. I do it all the time.
Just like Kilkhammer!
