Maybe you've changed your mind since you made the comments that were in the intro of this video but I think soulslike becoming its own genre of video games is something that we should all want. Because its a genre that one, is really good and fun to play when done well and two, is hard to implement mtx other than large DLC into without completely failing.
I feel like she was handicapping herself because it looks like she should be doing way more damage with the wrench. I mean it still pretty impressive but still
Souls-like is a genre though. These games are not really "copycat" they just follow suit, and really this style of game existed way before Demon Souls (they were just seen in older generations, like PS1 and 2) From software were gracious enough to let the genre happen, as it's exactly what we needed. Most people after playing DKS , fell into a deep depression, because nothing else was ever going to live up to it. The first proper Souls like (IMO) was Salt and Sanctuary, made by a Husband and Wife team (that loved DKS) If From had not let these inspired games happen, the computer games space would be a lot worse for it. I know people who legit cannot play any other kinds of action games. They have to be souls likes. usually older guys like myself, that came from a completely different era of gaming (believe it or not a lot of games used to be like this. Legacy of kain games being a good example, and Ninja Gaiden, too) Dark Souls essentially revived some older gaming troupes in Demon Souls, and because of how watered down gaming had become, it was a total breath of fresh air. A lot of younger players, who had not experienced games pre PS3/xbox360-hand holding era, completely fell in love with the formula. I for one, love that From software didn't sue anyone, and let it all happen. I mean after all, it wasn't really much new, they just went back to when games were not as pandering, and hand holding as they were from PS3 onwards.
As someone who is going to be on NG+2 soon and watching my friend beat NG+3 the difference in damage taken and dealt is staggering between each playthrough. Some of the things she gets hit by and it does a bee's dyck of damage, on NG+3 would just outright kill you. Short story long, if you don't know the parry timing for consecutive playthroughs you're going to have a terrible time
I’m on NG+3 as well. I will say being able to normal guard fury attacks at that point and various other OP upgrades kind of balance it imo. My hardest playthrough was still by far my first
I despise when people don’t give souls like games a chance not all of them are bad and it’s unfair to the devs who put hard work into such an amazing game
I like soulslike games, they produce games that has a different mechanic and sometimes a different timeline (not a knight in shining armor). Especially lies of p, it's not as punishing like dark souls, most of my boss fights were only 1st try, the barren swamp-thing and nameless puppet where the only thing i couldn't count my deaths. So yeah, lies of p is a great game to introduce the soulslike genre
The very start of the video was a brain dead take but I’m glad the game grew on you. I’m so defensive about this game because everyone just compares it to bloodborne and that just takes away its identity as it is literally NOTHING like bloodborne (the rally system is the only similarity).
I can't watch Parky's stream on twitch as much as I want bc of my schedule so it's always a delight when these stream highlights hit YT and I can watch and not feel as much like I'm missing out
Started playing Lies of P, literally 2 nights ago and I'm already on NG+ at the Cathedral lol. (I'm very bad and I've been banging my head against the wall) Was comforting to see someone who is good enough to speedrun Skeiro, get hit by the same stupid attacks I did... even if they nerfed the hell out of everything lol. Was my first souls-like game that I've beaten besides Elden Ring. Probably one of my favorite games of the past 20 years. I feel like people really slept on it. Also if anyone is still reading this, what's your favorite boss? Mines definitely the Fallen Archbishop. This first boss with a second phase transition, and man did it hit so hard. Hope all is well with everyone! I have to get back to Lies of P now, I unfortunately chose the wrong option after Simon and didn't get to fight the Nameless Puppet... I'm suffering.
I LOVE souls copycats because I love souls games. Give me more. Give me a souls copycat every month. People say it like it's a bad thing. Please give me more games that are fun to play 😂
No matter how good you are in a "Souls" game, you need to learn anytime you start a new one, because it is based on your knowledge of the very game played, not the whole type of game. Indeed, becoming good at Skiro, requires knowing ennemy petterns, learning to react at ennemy move sets, same goes with every other games of that sort. So you really not getting good at "Souls" games, you becoming good at Sekiro, good at Dark souls, Bloodborn... New move sets, new patterns, means having to learn again as a beginner, i don't believe in "getting gud", you just learn everytime. I've seen people believing because they've finished Bloodborn many times, Dark souls would be easy... Capra Demon disagreed, the game is slower, but so is your character.
wrong, it's a bloodborne clone with some small differences but in itself it's a copy paste from Bloodborne's fighting mechanics and pace. Which is a GOOD thing, don't get me wrong lol.
it's comfortably a soulsLIKE but that's not derogatory, it's a genre at this point. It has so many influences that it wears on its sleeve that it's definitely its own (fantastic) game. The people calling it a bloodborne clone either have not played it or have severe brain injuries.
She got me beat on most things in this game, but my insistance on doging really payed off on Victor lol. Only (non-stalker) boss I beat on my first try. Agression seems good for stalkers, passive parrying for most others, and a few where doging and strafing works best (Victor/Simon).

@@ttcfarhat6709 In my case, I loved Lies of P and I'm currently playing through new game +. But I couldn't finish Sekiro because it's way harder for me.
100 deaths at puppet king. Wow. Glad you learned it tho. I've seen some people for hrs on the puppet king. Average is about 50 deaths after puppet king, so still not bad at all. I like the parrying.
[48:29] The compilation of you chaining Perfect Guards against the Mad Clown Puppet was premium ASMR.
56:36 that thing was my ultimate enemy, killed me more times than any boss
I died to him 10 times last night🤣🤣blue rock troll is a boss
Did you have a light build? Because with a heavy build I powered through and staggered all of those mini enemies and none were really a challenge.
@@Leonhart_93 I meant the big clown
@@madeofnapalm You mean the Mad Clown? That one was annoying because he had very unpredictable attacks and the game really wanted you to parry everything.
I just completed this game and I genuinely consider it as one of my favorites. If I included it with the Soulsborne games, it would have a COMFORTABLE spot in the middle.
can we all just appreciate eugenie for knowing her way around a weapon🙏🙏
Absolutely love this game, currently on NG+4 and am still finding new stuff each run!
At the end, if your humanity isn't high enough, you won't cry for Geppetto, and Geppetto would just call you a useless puppet before he dies. Glad you were able to get good amount of humanity for real ending!
Also, if you choose to give your heart, game just ends there. Geppetto does make biologically "real" human, but it is implied that in essence you become more of a puppet of Geppetto as you kill all the hotel's residence after Geppetto orders it.
@@dirtiestharry6551 i made the role play choice to give the heart to geppetto, i really "liked" the bad ending cutscene but when i figured i missed a main boss for that it did hurt
Maybe you've changed your mind since you made the comments that were in the intro of this video but I think soulslike becoming its own genre of video games is something that we should all want. Because its a genre that one, is really good and fun to play when done well and two, is hard to implement mtx other than large DLC into without completely failing.
Why did the death count go down after the door guardian?
I feel like she was handicapping herself because it looks like she should be doing way more damage with the wrench. I mean it still pretty impressive but still
I think it was bc of her weapon setup, the handle had mixed scaling but the wrench was a motivity weapon
geppetto asking if he was a trustworthy parent then immediately handing you the key to the next area even though he’s supposed to be locked up is so 💀
Souls-like is a genre though. The first proper Souls like (IMO) was Salt and Sanctuary, made by a Husband and Wife team (that loved DKS)
If From had not let these inspired games happen, the computer games space would be a lot worse for it. I know people who legit cannot play any other kinds of action games. They have to be souls likes. usually older guys like myself, that came from a completely different era of gaming (believe it or not a lot of games used to be like this. Legacy of kain games being a good example, and Ninja Gaiden, too)
Dark Souls essentially revived some older gaming troupes in Demon Souls, and because of how watered down gaming had become, it was a total breath of fresh air.
Parky “he’s my daaad!”
Me immediately: BOOGY WOOGY WOOGY
See this just made me mad watching her beat the mad clown 1st try while I’m on my 75 try
Laxasia was probably the most missed opportunity for a fucking amazing boss weapon this game had.....
why? The Oroboros eye is an amazing weapon
@@darreideamos2309 nah. None of the boss weapons are worth it in this game. The normal weapons outshine them.
@@801Garagenameless puppet weapon is dope, scythe is sweet, lance isn't too bad
@@801Garagethe katana is just turning easy mode on. Just constant parry
@@Azrael713I do like the katana. That was the one good one haha.
As someone who is going to be on NG+2 soon and watching my friend beat NG+3 the difference in damage taken and dealt is staggering between each playthrough. Some of the things she gets hit by and it does a bee's dyck of damage, on NG+3 would just outright kill you. Short story long, if you don't know the parry timing for consecutive playthroughs you're going to have a terrible time
problem is objectively the parry timing is bad for many of the bosses.
@@ha-kh7efobjectively it’s not really though
I’m on NG+3 as well. I will say being able to normal guard fury attacks at that point and various other OP upgrades kind of balance it imo. My hardest playthrough was still by far my first
Love seeing the full thing after watching all the clips
What does it mean to "make your own game", if someone made a shooter, that means no one else can make a shooter`?
Soulslike is a genre. Making something in a genre isn't copying. By that metric Hollow Knight is a Metroid/Castlevania knockoff
So many of the deaths werent added to the counter
This was so fun to watch I wish I had your skill with your timing with perfect parrying, my god girl you are a beast.
The very start of the video was a brain dead take but I’m glad the game grew on you. I’m so defensive about this game because everyone just compares it to bloodborne and that just takes away its identity as it is literally NOTHING like bloodborne (the rally system is the only similarity).
I never found that survivor you did, so when I got to the cableway I couldn't lie, so she just attacked me lol.
I can't watch Parky's stream on twitch as much as I want bc of my schedule so it's always a delight when these stream highlights hit YT and I can watch and not feel as much like I'm missing out
This game has the look of demon souls (aka the ui and stuff), the gameplay of sekiro, and the aesthetic of bloodbourne
by far the greatest streamer!
big things in the works for you
Nice intro & fantastic final boss battle (that one almost broke me🤣)! Earned my sub 🔥👍😎
"make your own game" - it's not like a genre or something..... continues to promote a copy paste mobile game...
ol reliable, sometimes i come back just to rewatch this
Ok, but now I see her NOT using the fable arts and thats makes me frustrated lol.
So frustrating
Started playing Lies of P, literally 2 nights ago and I'm already on NG+ at the Cathedral lol. (I'm very bad and I've been banging my head against the wall)
Was comforting to see someone who is good enough to speedrun Skeiro, get hit by the same stupid attacks I did... even if they nerfed the hell out of everything lol.
This game rules
The character development from Parky in the factory asking for a flamethrower to her nuking Laxasia with it is so perfect
I LOVE souls copycats because I love souls games. Give me more. Give me a souls copycat every month. People say it like it's a bad thing. Please give me more games that are fun to play 😂
Btw with that future of the puppet.. there is a lever somewhere that removes that corruption.. makes it easier.
"Souls copy cat" is such a dumb take
So satisfying to see all the parries.
Yikes the first bit is extremely ignorant. With your logic 99% of games shouldn't be made even demon souls/dark souls.
I'm glad even experienced players are struggling with this game because for my first souls like game I'm getting clapped in some places lol
i KnOw My wAy aRoUnD a wEaPoN
It's barely a souls copy cat the game does enough for it self to be separated from them all
wrong, it's a bloodborne clone with some small differences but in itself it's a copy paste from Bloodborne's fighting mechanics and pace.
Gotta love how the game does open up for many different playstyles, and they all have their moments it seems. Agression seems good for stalkers, passive parrying for most others, and a few where doging and strafing works best (Victor/Simon).
Dang for me it's the opposite I cannot find my way to dodge on simon he is giving me the hardest time ive ever had on any boss probably ever so much so I keep quitting and haven't beat him I don't understand how everyone is doing it even laxasia was WAY easier to me same with swamp monster
FYI Gepettos VA is the same as the VA for Morgott/Margit in Elden Ring.
Its hard to belive that run was her first one! Amazing!
It only took one video for me to become a fan of Parky, love your videos! Keep up the good work and funny clips.
Love the weapon system in the game where u can combine the handles
I wish I could experience this game for the first time...
I'm on my eighth NG+ and I still enjoy this game and learn new things...
That editing was impressive
1:04:04 - "The Girl? Is it the girl?" Oh, yes... THE "Girl"... Laxasia hahahaha
Never used a single fable slot. Impressive and slightly irritating
If you get the talisman that buffs damage when you have fable, it makes saving it worth it. Which is a shame, as the fable arts are really fun.
The intro is incredible !
The tongue out concentration face during Fuoco is my favorite hahaha
Editing is mad impressive --- Classic Parky W
This game is just incredible, is a bit sad for me that some ppl just called it a 'souls copycats'...
Glad you liked it by the end of the game. Opening statement already caused me and I imagine plenty of others to dislike your video
Honestly the sheer quality of the combat and weapons in this game kind of makes me prefer it over most from souls games ngl
u really beat that giant robot while standing in the green poison…
I did also, are you not supposed to do that 😭 also in pretty sure your talking about the first encounter, if you’re talking about the encounter where it’s the second and third at the same time then I did not stand in the poison there cause I’m not dumb 😭
Thank you for the editing and the timestamps.
Last parky vid I watched started with her mic not working. Load this up and no sound again so my first thought was mic troubles. No, RUclips was just fucking with me and wanted me to reload the page lol
Iam a speedrunner myself. I run to the fridge fast AF
also my feeling from this weeks lies of p grind: parrying in this game feels like parrying the pursuer from ds2 but its 10 times more easy. (if you understand you understand)
This game is great, its on par with From Software games in my opinion as it was made by a much smaller studio. The combat and overall ambiance, environment etc and the overall gameplay might not be the best, but still this game holds up in my opinion. The lore, the story, the character designs, the bosses are very unique and creative. I loved this game.
Harbor - “what’s Fable?”
Me - “Blue shit”
Harbor - “oh the Blue”
Me - She gets it 👌🏼
You're pretty good, will play this game after I'm done with dark souls 1
