SAILING & ANCHORING in the CANARY ISLANDS EP. 91 | SV Cordelia

- We had been told that its difficult #sailing and #anchoring in The Canaries, but we found several anchorages that were great. They also had areas to leave your dinghy, supermarkets nearby and all the facilities you need as a cruiser. Our liveaboard life is always made easier if the anchorage has facilities nearby.
Our time in The Canaries was not going to be long, but we wanted to visit a couple of the islands that we had never visited before.
We also found the Aquascope useful again, which we originally bought for our grandchildren.
Enjoy, share, like and comment, we love to hear from you ❤️

Great video and insight into sailing the Canaries. We'll be following you next year!
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. We have found anchoring in The Canaries much easier than we had been told and read about. Yes, it can be deeper but as long as you have enough chain then you will be fine. Where about's are you now?

Really interesting video. Loved the boat sailing around the map just brilliant.....Can we see your whole trip? I'm sure it all takes time but we'll done! Loved your Orca deterrent, what did you use to do your logo on the hull? Why is there a cover on your t.v? Not because of spray? Why did you have to pay for anchorage and how much was it? Do you remember Grandad Lester's song? "Father was a sailor" I request you sing that. Lovely video. Sending love to you all xxxxxx
Yes, I will do a video map of our whole trip now that we are in Martinique x
Funnily, I did the the logo on the rudder with tailors chalk. We didn't show the other side that had our names lol.
We made the cover for the TV because it is on a moveable bracket, which moves around and bangs on the boat when we are sailing. We don't have it on when we are anchored unless we are rolling about.
The anchorage in Las Palmas was £25 for a week. That included checkin and out with customs, use of a safe dinghy dock, use of their bins, easy access to all the chandleries and supermarket. We actually stayed 4 weeks and didn't pay any extra, which we should have. If we hadn't needed to checkin with customs then we probably could have got away with not paying, but to be honest we are happy to pay when we know we can leave the dinghy somewhere safe and go ashore easily.
I have no recollection of Grandad's song. You must sing it for me and send it to me then I can use it on one of our videos haha!
Thank you for watching & commenting and all your questions, love it x x x😍⛵️⚓️🛟

😄👍👍👍❤
Thank you for watching and your great emoji's, I hope you enjoyed it 😍⛵️
Amazing trip in the Mediterranean and beyond! How did you manage your little four-legged friend needs during long passages? I ask because I have one little love with me
Thank you, we loved our time in the Mediterranean and will definitely return one day.
We were lucky enough to have Gus from a puppy aboard Cordelia so he know's nothing but the boat. We trained him to toilet on one side of the boat on a lead so we knew where not to tread at night lol. He is very good because when we are at anchor he will take himself to that side of Cordelia and when we are sailing he lets us know and we take him on a lead. I hope your little one adapts. Thank you for watching and commenting 😍⛵️
Going out just before night with only 51% on the outboards battery!! You guys are absolutely mad!! 😝😝😝😝
Haha! We like living on the edge. Similar to taking a dinghy ride against tide and wind and getting absolutely soaked - ring any bells? lol.
Thanks for watching & commenting, I know you know it helps xx
That rolling 🤢 cant imagine how it compares to the crossing
Haha! That rolling was quite extreme, it is not like that often and if it becomes particularly bad then we try and find another anchorage. We will make sure it isn't like that when you stay 😉😍⛵️
How much did you have to pay for the anchoring?
The cost for check in and a weeks anchoring was €29. The great thing is there is a safe and easy dinghy dock, its 5mins from a large supermarket, loads of chandleries at the marina, a launderette and has garbage bins for rubbish. It's also only 15mins from the main town, where we hired a car. The great thing about the check-in was they offered to check us in and out at the same time so we didn't have to return to them. It was ideal. We felt it was well worth the fee, especially as we were there a month and didn't pay any more! 😍⛵️
That should keep the whales away !!
Haha! It worked 😂😂
