Air Bearing Demonstrator

- Just a quick video of a set of air bearings that we are using on some projects.
Although they don't run forever, these things definitely seem to defy physics.
Our first production pair will be installed next month.
Three-point graphite air bearings are aerostatic when the shaft isn't spinning, and become aerodynamic when it spins. Sweet!
This is a cool concept
so to 1:50 add 60
get 2:50 (170 sec)
minus the 12 sec start 2:38
158 sec
This looks a lot like the pad demonstrator on Drew Devitt’s channel:
ruclips.net/video/WTjWw-QtN-c/видео.html
You'll see that demo again in a few weeks!
do not do that
cut away at
0:59 .666
set a clock in view
I use to work on Fisher's air bearing spindles. It's great because you can reach very high RPMs (90k per min), great for perfect surface finishes, but the problem is it can't handle any longitudinal force
So when the air is off, are there some landing pads that prevent wear on the lower graphite air surfaces?
That some pretty low friction coefficient, very nice.
Can’t handle high loads
How is the deflection say if you were to use this as a spindle for a lathe???
If made properly, runout can be incredibly good on an air bearings. David Preiss' video did a quick test on one of his homemade bearings and got great results (ruclips.net/video/vuzoEe_ykmM/видео.html)
You'd need a crazy strong compressor like one driven by a truck engine or something!
114 sec plus 60
174 sec. 3min prx..
100k RMP then shut off the air... what could happen?
If properly made the electric motor driving the spindle would work as an electric generator when power cuts out, and continue to power the compressor long enough for it to safely spin down.
@@pieterveenders9793 Thank you sir
Each yolk is different
1 yoke..
Of 3 bearings
Make about. 60° allbeit 16.66% of coverage.
20° & 5.5% per bearing contact /
(" non contact")
Surface ..which appears to be enough adequate perfect...
Which is normal for air bear according to my d yootoo engineering analysis. But What if or why not
Do more 360°/100%
Coverage ? (or more )?
(Front back)(6 air pad air bearing instead of 3)120° each.?
This is our demo for radial bearings, we have other options for 360 degrees.
@@NewWayAirBearings thank you the reply.
Great
0:07 1:50 103+ 30 + 30
163sec
Each yoke set is varied
0:53+30 0:58+30 1:14 little speed reduction
Sorry for the slow reply.
We had the set seen here: ruclips.net/video/kMPYjZ9kSeM/видео.html
at over 50,000 RPM with a >20KG radial load.
Our next go is scheduled for 60,000 RPM with a similar load... then off to 70,000 RPM
If Next.vid do full time no cut with clock or rpm
What is it.. Should say why or what purpose.
I see
1..deck
2.. Three collared air bearing
3.. Two wheel
Heavy solid
a...end to the right
Five times heavier than other
These are low drag air bearings that we are utilizing in a project for a customer.

Bearings yes thank you what. Is the rig. Beautiful.. I see(imagine). Two tesla turbines in that thick disc. The rig is maybe a test rig. Even a disc motor.? Motors
What Rpm can she do
@@aggabus I'll have to check the specs.

Thank you for the post and reply. 1Can you sell. The yolk & bearings. ?
2What is the rig or axle weight or 3 bearing capacity . 4Would you do that rig in magnetic bearings?
