Some critics said this song was lyrically immature of Chris since he's a gifted lyricist but I think this is from the heart and as brutal and truthful as it can be. That's why him and Ricky's writing can be so top notch
Well literally everyone is a critic. When they say "critics say this movie is is the scariest thing they've ever seen." Thats just some random person who reviewed the movie. In that case you're a critic criticizing the other people.
Love this fucking song. Every song Chris writes is just golden. His brain works in amazing ways. He has such a powerful and emotional story to tell and does it in an intellectual and articulate way that most lyricists nowadays wouldn't be able to. Not to mention the way he maintains beautiful melodies throughout the heavy instrumentals and harsh vocals. Alot of screamers can't balance power and melody all at once. And something else I'd noticed is that whenever they have a guest vocalist the song is written in a style that fits that vocalists traditional music. And Chris will warp his voice to reflect and the voice of the guest. In Necessary Evil his voice is a little more nasally to resemble Jonathan Davis's voice. And in Contemptress he adds a more breathy sound because Maria Brink always has that breathy voice. Hands down one of my favorite bands.
