Something that has always interested me is the science behind what our spine offers and how it's so important to us, not just in terms of skeletal but also our nervous. I've studied the physiology of how adjustments work I'm skeptical as to how this could actually adjust anything: adjustments involve mechanical rotation of the vertebrae that turns them as far as they'll go in the needed direction, stretching the ligaments. I don't see how these little jolts of 5 lbs of pressure could be rotating the joint.
These adjustments work with the nervous system. There is a resetting of the joint, which has a delicate and sensitive neurological component. The instrument I use vibrates the joint back and forth like a toddler on a swing. The amount of force has been measured and is much more than 5 lb. The technique is called impulse. The impulse instrument provides a force that research shows, moves the vertebra sufficiently.
