I trust Mike. He should be a GM. He recognized the talent in Zach Tom, who’s turned out to be a stud. Lots of examples. Mike understands what traits translate to the NFL best.

He legit knows offensive lineman better than anyone I have watched. I'm surprised he hasn't claimed this title yet. I mean go back to 2020, he rarely misses. Bengals need to hire him 😂

Mikes truly one of the best out there. With his track record there’s no reason he shouldn’t be looked at as one of the top in the field. Any of these publications should be trying to get him asap

Mike, I really appreciate what you said about editing and how you will never let someone else share their opinions using your name. It's why this is my main source for anything draft related. No one can predict the future and everyone is bound to have hits and misses because it's really a guessing game.
But the objective of the job is to evaluate talent and share your opinions. You are the only one that I know for a fact that is doing those things honestly. Even if you love a player that ends up sucking (cough cough Jerry tillery), your analysis of that player still holds weight because you know what you are talking about and you're audience trusts that your analysis is truly yours and you have integrity.

Everyone is so tied to the Jayden Daniels/Lamar Jackson comp, and a slimmer RGIII is such a better comp for Daniels. Nailed that one.
I see JJ McCarthy as Colt McCoy+, due to size and arm strength, which I think gives him a top 15 QB ceiling. Which I think on the surface many don’t want, but in reality any coach in the NFL would take that in a heart beat.

Preach about 1st rd TEs!. I wish you'd talked' more about Bowers at 15 and his range. I still don't see it you could add 2 of Franklin, Thomas Jr, AD, McConkey or Bowers for the draft stock at 15 let alone as high as 5. How different are all those guys receiving grades? McConkeys a good blocker on the outside, nice YAC, and a way better route runner.
Packers ironically the poster child for wanting the receiver package.

You are STILL concerned about WHICH QB the Commanders will draft at #2 which assumes they will do this.
If they keep replacing their QBs with high picks they will never address the OL.
In case you don't know, most Commanders fans don't want to do this. You can test this by using the RUclips feature to poll your subscribers.
You are swimming against the stream.
Do you dispute that the top picks are overvalued by the QB QB QB hysteria?
If 1.2 has a value you can find it in the draft simulator where 1.2 = 1.3 + 2.34.
If 1.2 is OVERVALUED you can trade to 1.3 for MORE.
The draft simulator values 1.3 as 1.4 plus 2.35.
With two tradedowns you then have 1.4, 2.34, 2.35, PLUS whatever you gain from OVERVALUE.
Please answer this, what would you do if confronted with getting 2, 3, 4, or more top 100 picks, at what point do you get off the QB QB QB wagon?
A QB running around in the backfield does not solve the Commanders' problems.

I think the QB class is a whole is massively overrated, and JJ is actually the only guy I have a completely favorable comp for, and one you will probably vehemently disagree with, but I see Caleb as the average of Manziel + Kyler, I've been comping Daniels to RG3 for a while now, everything matches up but Jayden needed a 5th year for that breakout Heisman season which is a big knock, the guy is only 3 months younger than Sam Howell who would be going into year 3 when he makes his debut. Drake Maye reminds me too much of Sam Darnold, except Darnold at least peaked in his final szn instead of dipping like Maye. I think Bo Nix is the average of Baker + Pickett, complete with needing that covid year to go from a day 3 guy to a potential 1st rounder like Pickett & Jayden. Penix is the average of Tua + Carson Strong, potentially medically and as a player, and JJ McCarthy could have the highest ceiling because his high-end play looks like Aaron Rodgers. If Harbaugh has a big enough pair, he should draft and sit him for 2 years then get a king's ransom for Herbert.

Honestly that's not true his offense was top ten in Arizona he added a running game to the offense it didn't work in Arizona because he had a lazy quarterback who wanted to play call of duty instead of being in the playbook stop the cap dude

Drafting a 1st round QB on a team bad enough to pick top 5-10 is the biggest fallacy in NFL intellegencia. The most successful teams & QBs all established a playoff-caliber roster before chasing a "Franchise QB" whether by accident or on purpose teams like KC and SF laid out gameplan building around a scheme-fitting bridge to gauge the offense and build a platform for the next guy. Detroit is following it to transform from historically bad, to a future perennial contender when they swap Goff out to get over the hump.
I think Washington is gonna skip QB and Follow the 49er's game plan that started in Adam Peters' 1st year there in 2017.
They are gonna swap down 1 pick with the Patriots, hopefully, for pick 34 at least, let them take the UNC QB then go BPA.
In this case, it's MHJ instead of an IDL, followed by 3 top 40 OL in a deep talented class.
We also get to skip out on the overpriced bridge that Jimmy G/Alex SMith/Jared Goff turned out to be, by using Howell's cheap contract to accomplish the same thing, letting us build a great platform for a future QB, with a great scheme fit for the OC's offense,
regardless of how unimpressive it might be.
Sam Howell flashed last year but was Horribly mismanaged by Eric Bieniemy whose gameplan & playcalling was completely antithetical to a young QB's development and success. It was so bad that almost every broadcast team questioned the playcalling week to week.
Kingsbury lets them build around Howell without him learning a 4th offense in 4 years since Kingsbury's offense basically being the same offense Sam looked like a potential #1 overall pick in before he lost his supporting talent to the draft, and supporting talent won't be a problem adding MHJ to Terry & Jahan behind an OL that could see any 2 or 3 of Tyler Guyton, Patrick Paul, Graham Barton, Troy Fautanu, Kingsley Suamataia, Cooper Beebe, Christian Haynes, Jordan Morgan or Jackson Powers Johnson added to Samuel Cosmi & Ricky Stromberg with 3 picks at the top of round 2.

Wow. Waaaaaay TLDR. And you're wrong. There's no "rule" or "superior path". Every situation, team, and prospect is different. You're dumbing things waaaaaay down.

This post is more of a poster child for what fans are writing in the comment section under videos. There is a huge disconnect between those who are site host commentators and the actual fans. The post by the same person above states the QB class is overrated which is another way of saying the picks for these are overvalued. Fans know this is a 22 position team + kickers, and you need overall strength, not a flashy QB to win. Due Diligence means every draft analyst SHOULD post a video, should the team, in this case the Commanders, trade down, and if so, what would they get, which is the REAL cost of replacing the QB with a high pick. Finding fault with QB as the problem to be solved is a shallow analysis. It is a bold statement to make that the past season would have had a better result if one of these top three QBs were there instead of Howell, but the analysts won't commit to saying this. Instead they hammer the message over and over that these QBs are "elite" and you are "missing out" if you don't take them.
Renner has a good list in the corner of best players. Still what if you instead of five, TEN picks or MORE in the top 100, what overall effect would that have?

@@FantasySportsZen and "having to take QB if you're picking this high isn't dumbing it down? At least I'm talking about the commonalities of what the best teams in the era of $40m+ a year QBs, and rookie contract "cheat codes" are doing. Analytics says more players are better than fewer, except for QB and the impact they can make, but the impact they make is more heavily influenced by what they have around them than any other position. That leads to the common thread that is almost completely ignored, of best teams and the best QB overwhelmingly belonging to teams that plugged their guy into a quality roster. Maybe QB talent eval isn't a complete crapshoot we concede it to be when high-ranked prospect after high-ranked "bust". Instead, maybe the platform a team gives a young QB is just as or more important than his talent level upon leaving college. With the price of QB contracts and the advantage the rookie deal offers maybe it's time conventional thinking catches up, and aligns with what the best teams are actually doing and how it could let teams take better advantage of QB's rookie contracts instead of racing and wasting them building around the QB as the contract ticks away. No QB+ 2 top 40 OL in this draft is better than Sam+MHJ+3 top 40 OL. The gap isn't that big, and we've seen Sam put out Half a really good season vs NFL comp in a worse overall situation before EB ground him down
