@@mewybee the paste could Go Up to the eardrum then an Doc has to remove it cause we cant do that thats the worst for a normal ear If you have a hole in ur eardrum then maybe you need surgery, If the Paste goes threw your eardrum :) But thats why we use cotton woolpads for the eardrum so we dont go near it while doing the Impression taking
And then my body just having a trumbling panic attack while the Doc is just looking into my ear. It's worse than having anything medical done to my teeth. 😖

it's not really to bite down i think it's because the shape of the ears change ever so slightly when the mouth is open which would be happening a lot if he's singing live for an hour or two every night of a tour

opening the mouth widens the ear canal a little so when the impressions are used to make a shell for iems it will have a better seal when your mouth is closed, while also being secure if when you open your mouth.
