- As an American I know all about what Americans think about Canada, but I thought it would be very fun to react to this video in which Europeans give their opinions on Canada, to see how it compares to us. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!
when an Irish person says you have good beer, that's high praise
Yes indeed!
Darn right we do
Just took the knowledge the irishmans and scots brought we them so thank you to your traditions
I'm Canadian and I love me Guinness
Smithwick's always in my fridge.
When I visited London, people were really quick to call me American. When I said that I was Canadian, they often said "Whatever, you're all North American". My response, with a big smile, was "Oh you Europeans are all the same". And I'd take joy in watching them bristle.
Must be the non-native ones who came over after WW2 because no proper Briton would ever say that!
Oh, that makes me sad a bit. Quite a difference between countries.🇨🇦
That tends to be a young person’s reaction, I’ve found. I get it from my niece and nephew and their families. They don’t get how different we are.
especially if you tell Brits....or you are just the same as Wales....they flip out. Have to say Scotland was super friendly...so nice
Had a similar experience in Austria. Changed their tune when I started calling them German.
I'm a proud Canadian and love the bond Canada and the Netherlands have. Over 70 years ago Canadian troops liberated Holland from Nazi occupation and there are lots of videos of the people covering army vehicles in flowers or people running up to the convoys just to touch the soldiers. Canadian troops also destributed much needed food and supplies to the country, there are alot of videos you can watch. After the end of WW2 the dutch royal family sent 100,000 tulip bulbs to Canada as a thank you gesture and they were planted in Ottawa among the parliament buildings. This amazing gesture is repeated each year, sending us 10,000 tulip bulbs annually. There are also lots of video of Canadian troops returning to celebrate different "end of ww2" anniversaries and the love for each other's countries has not diminished. It is such an amazing bond between two nations. 🇨🇦 ❤ 🇳🇱
The Dutch Royal family lived in Ottawa during WW2. Princess Margarite was born there. The hospital was declared as Dutch so there was no political problems with her nationality. As a thank you to Canada for sheltering their royal family they send hundreds of tulips each year.❤😊
My father helped liberate Holland in world war two
My grandfather British but flew for the Canadian fleet flew in the first plane drop of food in Holland and then many more. He would talk about how they would fly so low that he could see the faces of the ppl waiting for the sacs to be dropped. Stan Jones was his name
I had a great conversation with a couple from the Netherlands. I asked them why after the war the immigrated to Canada and their answer was...The Canadians did not rape or steal...
I believe we liberated all of The Netherlands, not just the provinces of Holland.
As a Canadian, I find it really interesting to know what other countries think of us as a whole. And I absolutely love how you seem to have a passion to learn about my country. It warms my heart ^_^
It always kind of surprises me that they think anything of us at all, haha. I feel like we're pretty quiet.
Agreed!
(Also, "Too nice. Too polite."?! You KNOW buddy's never been jerseyed in a friendly brawl before 😂❤)
The only thing people say about Canadians is nice. If the only thing people think of you is nice. Then you really don't have anything. I want people remember me as good, not nice.
How do they get a ghost in the interviews, disgusting.
The singer that no ever mentions is Anne Murray. She was sorta the Celine Dion of the 70's. Great voice, great lady.🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤👍
Our "Snowbird" !! Wonderful Canadian singer, I still listen to her on oldies stations !!
Don’t forget Ryan Reynolds
I think Anne has the most Juno awards than anyone. She's an incredible singer but her easygoing songs and nature may not register with the young folk
Nooooooooo! She was definitely NOT a Céline Dion. More like a boring folksy/country singer ... Come on.. Be honest about some of our beloved Canadians... Sometimes its just ego and exaggerated pride.
Just watched a CBC doc on her called Anne Murray: Full Circle. Definitely worth the watch. She's from Springhill NS, location of the most severe mining "bump" in North America. They have an Anne Murray Centre in the town, and they named the rec centre after her parents.
Yes, we do wear a Canadian pin when travelling. One time in Germany I didn't wear it at a cafe and was treated horribly so when I took off my jacket that read "We The North" (Toronto Raptors) the server came over and apologized. He thought I was an American. Then he went on to ask if I was Republican or Democrat. I said, "Neither" I'm Canadian.
Great answer:🙂
When I was visiting family in the U.K., they continually asked if I was American or automatically inferred it! Many Americans would often steal Canadian flags on backpacks, so they warned me to keep anything with a Canadian logo or Maple Leaf well supervised! I never had anyone do that to me, but I did have Americans ask if I had any they could buy any Canadian paraphernalia from me…as they discovered they were treated far better when traveling internationally…it made it far SAFER for them! As much as it drove me BONKERS to be confused with Americans, and having to correct the British constantly, I know they are bombarded with American TV and multi media/social media - which only perpetuates this misconception!
I’m sure that if I switched over to my Newfoundland accent (I live out West, but was born in Newfoundland) they would be completely confounded and think I was IRISH - LOL!!!🇨🇦☺🇨🇦
@@shelleyhender8537 I went to France, speaking French with a combined Québécois/anglophone accent, plus speaking in Dutch with my mother (who was born and raised in Amsterdam), so everyone thought I must be Belgian. At least I didn't get mistaken for an American!
@@scds1082 So glad to hear that you are of DUTCH ancestry! I don’t know if there is any other European country that Canadians feel such great affection for - other than the Dutch…which I know you are likely well aware of!☺
I’m sure the French were absolutely perplexed by your accent - LOL!😉 I would have loved to have been witness to it!
I find it odd that many Europeans feel more connected to Americans and are obsessed with their culture, when I think Canadians identify more with our European ancestry.
That being said, I wish more people were bilingual in our beautiful country! To think you know 3 languages is wonderful! I too have family who speak multiple languages, and I think it’s a fantastic benefit to all who are so fortunate to be raised in a household with family that encourage and embrace their culture and language.
It’s truly wonderful corresponding with you. Have an awesome weekend🇨🇦!🙂🇨🇦
@@shelleyhender8537 We had a phone call one time from family in Sweden. They asked my grandmother where we lived, and immediately said, "Oh, you're American."
My grandmother was not pleased, and said, "No, we're Canadian."
Mt husband and I were in Dublin and a sales clerk told us she knew we were Canadian because we didn't behave like Americans.

French Canadian and proud of it, a beautiful large country that respects other countries cultures.

What I, as a European (from Sweden) think of when I hear Canada: "Sorry". Simple Plan- one of my favorite bands growing up. Really cold winters and lots of wild nature. Huge country with few people in it. Safer and better in most ways compared to the USA. Poutine. Celine Dion. Nanaimo bars. Polite, funny, friendly, intelligent people. Hockey and curling. My country of choice if I could move anywhere in the world.
Nanaimo bars.....are the best. Nanaimo, British Columbia really nice.
🇨🇦 Hello✌️From British Columbia
I love Nanaimo bars. I also highly recommend butter tarts.
We don’t have cold winters on the Pacific Coast.
My Swedish cousin came to visit my family in Canada back in the 90s and was very disappointed to find out I hate hockey
Fun perspective. Love how you want to defend Canadians after the bacon comment. You're feeling some kinship for Canadians after all these videos! You are a great reactor because you're curious and open to learn. Gosh....you're almost an honourary Canadian! ❤🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🍁🍁🍁❤️

As a Canadian, I hope Ukraine can hold on, and that displaced Ukrainians know they are welcome here. BTW, we solved our dispute with Denmark, we now have a border. Too bad, that was kinda fun !!
We have room for everyone ❤ I love that about us and those that complain about it..know we have the room too…
Bring on the Ukrainians and bring back the war with Denmark!!! 💪🍻 I too enjoyed the tomfoolery we had goin' on up on that island 👌

I know, I like the little 'disagreement' between Canada and Denmark...
But obviously, it came down to politics and defence, etc. and hockey teams, (don't get me started about how players are actually Canadian - on Canadian teams. ha!)
A "make up your mind" kind of thing. But i think there are too many borders...but,
then again, ..maybe not...hmm
This guy Tyler talks way too much,I would rather hear more from the participants.
Awww.... Tyler.. this made my maple syrup dripping Canadian heart melt!!!! This was truly a heart warming episode! While all the commenters made me giggle... it was your commentary that made it so awesome!!! Thank you for shining a really wonderful spotlight on my home nation!!!! You are always so positive!!! When I was young we used to get our milk delivered by a milk man and on a cold morning you could see on peoples front step where the bottles were set, cream freezing and expanding out the top of the bottle. Milk in the jug and the cream all on top escaping the bottle. Thats how I've often thought of Canada on top of North America as the cream on top of the bottle.
Ah, how cute was your comment. May I use your last line?
I rather be hated and respected (like Americans) than liked, but disrespected (like Canadians).
Hello! I’m a Quebecer and I think that it’s very cool that you learn a lot of things about our beautiful country! I like my country but I also like my province! So, I have a topic idea for you: The Hydro-Québec story and all about our hydroelectricity. Our electricity is 94% from hydroelectricity sources and Hydro-Québec is our only electricity company that has a great history. It would be very interesting if you do it. Thanks :)
Quebec continue to rape Canada wrt provincial transfer payments!
BTW most of your electrical needs are provided by Labrador/Newfoundland
I would like to learn about that as well. Always heard of it, but never fully investigated it!

Haha as a Canadian it makes me chuckle hard when people think we have different bacon than them because of how pea meal ham is sold as Canadian bacon elsewhere but we don’t even eat that here. If you ask for bacon here, you get the exact bacon you expect.
But our regular bacon is also very different than Irish bacon that is usually a bit more thick cut. It's something my Irish relatives actually complain about a lot when they visit. In my experience they are actually complaining about the regular stuff, not the peameal.
@@Zynnix Yes.... my folks and my brother have both travelled through Ireland and England, and they commented on their 'thick cut' bacon. Very tasty though!🙂 Also, in the Maritimes we still eat Pea Meal Bacon, which is the thicker cut Back Bacon... though it is getting harder to find.

@dan mac what I was saying was regardless of age, you don't have to like him or his music. I am not the same age as the surviving members of the Tragically Hip. When we were in Cuba I talked to a lot of local people. The best line I heard about Canada was "We love Canadians, all except those ones that talk funny" meaning French Canadians.

Canada's International Image: Weak, don't have voice of their own. and nice. if you are weak, you have to be nice, right?
I found the same reaction when I was in UK.
When I was young it was young American tourists who put Canadian patches on their backpacks when touring Europe …they were treated better by the locals
☠️ …
Used to be kits Americans were advised to use to make them look like Canadians.
I was also told it was because thieves preferred to rob Americans. Just HOW BAD is our dollar?
Many young Americans still wear Canadian flag pins when travelling because a few Americans gave their country a bad name by acting supercilious etc. Wearing the pin ensures that they’ll be treated with more respect as long as they are respectful.
Still happening today. Many of the cruise ship staff wear a Canadian pin on their bag when stopping in port.
That war with Denmark about the island ended just last year in light of the invasion of Ukraine. Canada and Denmark split the island right down the middle and each got half
IIRC the ocean border was extendeded through Hans Island following some natural feature, so the Danes got 60%. I think Canada and Denmark also doubked the number of countries they have land borders with.
Yes, Canada now has both the shortest and the longest undefended borders in the world
Canada, Australia, Scotland, England, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, all the Commonwealth countries, we have our very own Olympics called the Commonwealth Games, nobody except countries affiliated with the UK. Commonwealth means we went from being Territories under the laws and authority of the UK and British Crown to being independent, Sovereign equals who all work together and support each other politically, financially and militarily.
Michael Bublé lives in Vancouver with his family, near where he went to high school. The French from France can look down on French Canadians, but I think they feel an affinity with them as well. In the last number of years, there have been a large number of French people from France moving to Québec. I meet them all the time in Montréal.
I , liked visiting Montreal with very nice people. I thought they would speak french but they speak English and like others from other provinces friendly people.
Every business I went to, spoke both languages, before visiting I heard that if you spoke English they would look down their nose and speak french only...
@@misterwolf9227 Depends on the situation, if you been living in Quebec for 20+ years and can't talk French at all, that will happen. For tourist we assume everyone will talk in English, we live in north America after all.
Another great video. Impressed as always with your openness to learn.
How, exactly, can someone be "too nice"?
I suspect people really mean to say that Canadians were even more nice than they expected them to be.
Also, the problem is that some people see good manners as a weakness because they don't have manners themselves. Being polite comes from a position of strength and civility, while rudeness comes from a position of weakness and fear.
Well, if they see us as "Too nice" then they don't know the history of Canadians in WW1 and WW2. We were given the nickname "Stormtroopers" in WW1 because the weather never stopped us. In WW2 when we were liberating Belgium and The Netherlands we had the Germans running scared. We were ruthless. It amuses me how our manners make us "nice" and yet history shows that we are anything but. lol
I've been told this is why Americans don't say "sorry" or "please" or "thank you." They consider them to be groveling and can't wrap their minds around the concept of simple good manners. I'm more likely to shop at a store where the clerks use 'please' and 'thank you' and _don't_ dismiss me with "there you go."
@@Shan_Dalamani It's been said that when Canadians say "Sorry." they really mean "I'm really sorry that you have no manners.".

Our regular bacon is pretty crap, in comparison to European (Irish) bacon. I don't think they were talking about Canadian/Back Bacon.
Canadians love to point out that our beer is better than the US, but nobody says it's better than European beer. That's the highest of praise indeed.
I think there is definitely some animosity between Canadian French and European French.
As much as we try, we can't be friends with everyone, but it's welcoming to know that many parts of the world look kindly at Canada, and that makes me proud
I find they have it in a different location in a lot of stores. Where thin cut is splayed out in a package usually by the hotdogs. Thick cut is usually with the meat, cut but still stacked together.
Canadian beer is rated pretty high now. The opening of craft beers and the import of exotic brands has given Canada an excellent variety

I now live in Costa Rica, and have noticed this many times - how the demeanor of people changes when they find out I'm a Canadian, and not an USAmerican. With USAmericans, they tend to be cautiously polite, but with Canadians, they tend to be much more open. It's like they instantly relax.

Haha you're too nice, like you're almost beyond Canadian nice. Keep up the awesome videos.
The Redditor who complained about the Canadian flag in the backpack...obviously the first thing everyone thinks when they see/hear a Canadian is that we're American...so it's a more than a bit irritating. The reason that's a bad thing is that people around the world often have strong opinions of Americans due to past or current foreign policy. Not to mention the current state of American politics.
Also remember that since there are 10x more Americans than Canadians, people of other countries will see way more Americans which further allows them to believe we're American.
Although with that said, many Americans put a Canadian flag on their backpack to avoid the same sorts of things that we try to avoid
I'm willing to bet that they're English based on their UK flare. I'm sure people from Scotland/Wales/NI get tired of being lumped in with England as well, the English just don't realize it.
The one guy that said the weather is better in Ireland is hilarious!
It varies wildly in Canada due to it being the equivalent of England to Siberia.
The kind of size the Irish could probably never grasp fully.
The weather where I am (west coast of Canada) barely freezes and reaches 50°C in the summer. That's 123° in American!

As a Canadian who is about to retire in Spain, I love hearing this. We spent 6 weeks in Spain last year and were overwhelmed with people excited to talk to us and learn more about our country after hearing we were from Canada. Thanks for reacting.
When travelling abroad, lots of my partly US-educated son's classmates chose to sew a maple leaf onto their backpacks so as not to be thought of as American. There is a less positive attitude to US tourists in Europe than to Canadians.
Sewing a Canadian flag on your backpack, jacket, etc has been going on
since at least the 70's. Partly because of Vietnam..and the US' feeling of superiority...
Especially during "The Trump" times. There were quite a few who didn't wish to be Known as USA as they were heading to places who didn't view the President in nice terms.
As a Canadian who lived in Spain and now France. I always get asked where I am from. When saying I am from Canada I would get ppl saying "oh good your not American" or I would get "Canada, America, same thing"
I went to the Netherlands about 4-5 years ago with a large group (all of us from Canada) and we went on the Amsterdam river cruise. as we were boarding the boat the tour guide asked us where we were from and we told him we were from Canada so he did the tour in english which didn't seem like a big deal to us. as it turns out, there was an American sitting near us (he had been on this tour multiple times throughout the years) and he said that this was the first time he'd taken the tour where it was spoken in english, which leads me to believe that the tour guide spoke in english just because we were Canadian.
I really wish the world would stop crapping on people just because of where they are from. Come on, people.

Just so you know, I've heard that because Quebec was so isolated from France for so many hundreds of year, that Quebecois French is how continental French sounded about 400 years ago. Not sure if this is true or not, but I've seen so many videos on the topic most saying the same thing, that I can I can see that being the case. I'm an Anglo Ontarian and "just basically" understand French, but I really love Quebec and think it's cool.
That’s so interesting!!!!!
It's a good theory, but the French will have English influences to it. They would have to be 100% isolated since day one for it to be sounding like that. They are not. So the French has changed, as languages do over time, just not like it changed in France.
@@ivytepes I can see that too... good point. Cheers!

We all had a good laugh over that. Make a video of Canadian beer vs American beer it should be good entertainment ah.
Thanks Tyler, love your videos, keep them coming. I'm pretty sure the bacon that they were referring to is Canadian bacon, which is also known as back bacon...basically ham. I've heard that a lot of Europeans love our beer, compared to US, which I completely agree, also I've heard they love our all dressed chips, which I don't blame them either. One of my fav videos is Talking To Americans with Rick Mercer, I strongly recommend you watch and react to that, it's hilarious.
I have to explain why the Europeans gripe about the French Canadians... It's not the same French! Europeans learn French the way they speak it in France. (Even the citizens of the US learn it that way) but when you hear a native québécois speak French, you lose all your bearings. Fact is, the French that is spoken in Québec is derived from the old French; the way it was spoken in 1534, when Jacques Cartier came to Nouvelle-France. It developed differently in France than it did in Québec. Just like the English from England is different from the English in the US or Australia.
And that's without mentioning that We Quebecers use certain Aboriginal words, for example: Quebec means narrow river (St Lawrence River).
That's the big joke in our house. My husband may have been born in Glasgow, Scotland, but he is 100% Canadian! He loves his beer and his hockey. LOL
We have a great beer scene in Canada. Especially in Ontario. Lots of microbreweries.
Thanks for your reaction. I'll clarify something about french language. I'm from Québec, and the french spoken here have a very different accent from the french in France or Belgium. That's why some people complain about it. Some could barely understand us, but we have lots of fun when we meet and compare our words & expressions.
As a whole as a Canadian....with my travel experiences I actually find Americans as friendly. In customer service friendlier .
To be honest, it didn't sound like many of these folks actually know anything about Canada, aside from the usual tropes about maple syrup, niceness, etc . . .
(Ukrainian flag) "I know where to go if things go south."
Well, that aged well.
I speak Quebecois French, France French sounds very different, classier, like how British sounds more defined and proper than say a Brooklyn or Texan accent is the Union. Our French sounds to France like Creole sounds to Quebecois. Creole is derived from Quebecois but evolved very differently after the Louisiana Purchase more or less trapped them in the state of Louisiana as US citizens.
"British sounds more defined and proper." That is not true in the slightest. If you are from a wealthy family and live in the south of England sure, but that is not the case for most Brits.
When I was in Paris I used to get a lovely take out from a Parisian restaurant. The owner one day asked if I was Canadian and I said yes. He said I would love to immigrate there but no one speaks French. I had a hearty laugh and did not enlighten him.
Perhaps the person who stated Canadians try too hard to not be known as Americans seems to not comprehend why we put a Canadian flag on our luggage or backpack or remind people who lump us in with the US. Far from having an inferiority complex, we are proud of being a unique and successful experiment within the fabric of humanity. I am certain the commenter would not be thrilled to be mistaken for their next-door neighbour; so, why then should we just stand by and have people identify us as our next-door neighbour. If we attempt to differentiate we have an inferiority complex and if we do or say nothing, we lose our identity. We are a distinct and sovereign country that happens to live next door to the US and does not, nor should not, have to justify our existence to people who make no effort to notice that.
My deepest appreciation goes to all of you who have taken the time to read my comment and given it a 'like'. PS: I cannot think of any other country that constantly has to explain and/or justify its existence, Cheers

I spent 6 years in French immersion and graduated highschool with a bilingual diploma....
But even still, when I went to Montreal, there were some people I couldn't converse with because the dialect was SO different from theirs, being that my teachers through all those years had mainly been Acadian French, which is more of a Maritime/Atlantic dialect. 😅
To add to that, most of the French spoken here in Canada is also very, very different from the dialect and accent in France itself.
As an Acadian, I find it much easier to understand people from France than in Québec. It’s weird being bilingual and hardly being able to fully understand our french speaking neighbours in Québec. But on the other hand, they probably have a hard time understanding Acadians.

Having lived in UK and Europe for a time I can say we were pretty well received there. Some people said a big difference they found between Canadians and American tourists is that Canadians were often more open and exploratory to other's cultures and world views whereas many Americans tend to take there culture with them. Often building resorts, looking for familiar foods and products and not venturing too far out and thus often not really experiencing the cultures they have come too see in the first place.
As to the flag pinned etc, some of the American students I studied and lived with told me it is common for Americans to wear the Canadian flag while traveling since they feel they get better reception than as American tourists.
Your comments gave me several laughs this morning, thanks Tyler. 😅 We have lots of similarities and some very important differences. Find it annoying when ppl make commentary without having ever been here or studied it, like you. Lol
Thank you.
since beer was mentioned you should check out the molson Canadian Beer commercials they are funny the I AM CANADIAN commercials
And William Shatner’s version too! Hilarious!
Canadian here: I love to brag about our hockey, but to hear an average Finn say that we're a great hockey country is HIGH PRAISE 🇨🇦❤️🇫🇮
I hate (FEAR) those guys in any tournament we play. Not to be a dick, but the massive sigh of relief I get when hearing Team Canada beat Team Finland is a tough feeling to beat 😂❤
You said Justin Beaver once at the beginning , thats gold😂😂
Bieber not Beaver - you must be American
Samuel is referring to the fact that Tyler sometimes gets tongue-tied and said “Beaver” by mistake. Later, he said it correctly. It’s no big deal. It was kind of funny, that’s all.
@@Carol_65 I'm well aware of the innocence my friend thats why I love it myself 😁
In France, Quebec French is kinda seen as "lesser". Like stereotypical hillbilly accent vs "normal" English
Would like you to react to "Tom Brokaw explaining Canada to Americans"
I just have to say it’s Moose not Mooses or sheep and sheeps
That's all, folks!
Love your videos Tyler! You will always have a home up here, if you need one!
I love how you are exploring all different aspects of Canada--its history, languages, government, and international reputation. It's a short video, but check out "Global Beer Fridge Molson Canadian".
As a Canadian, I'm just going to apologize for Justin Bieber. He's America's problem now, though.
"I know where to go if things go south". From a Ukrainian. That makes me sad; I hope he's made it here.
I lived in Dublin 2 years everything they say is dripping in sarcasm its just their natural way of being
Good episode!
Canada vs US beer has been a huge thing for generations.
Michael Buble performed at my works staff party back when he was just coming up in the early 2000s
Interesting twist, I have never really thought about before!
yes thanks
Canadian beer has between 4.0 and 6.1 percent alcohol
In general yep, but some are up to 8% depending. Usually taste like crap though.
I don't know anybody that drinks Canadian Beer, other than local craft brewers.
The Whisky War was the greatest war of all time.
I'll be honest, coming from a small town and going to a bigger Canadian city. I meet at least 3 Americans on my journey whom were meeting family in Canada. I cannot say anything bad about them, they were polite, asked for any local good places to eat, places to see, and I honestly enjoyed speaking to them. I wanted to speak more with them, but felt ashamed to intrude on their vacation, so gave them my recommendations, and wished them a safe and happy journey of our country. We only see what were shown on tv, and I don't believe all Americans are like that, just like most Canadians can be rude/blunt at times as well, love to visit the US sometime and share a beer! Cheers!
We do have a lot of local beer crafters (micro brasserie). A beer tour is an actual option for a vacation in Québec. Thanks for your curiosity!
The meth lab reference is straight from the late, great Robin Williams!
Yes ! he said Canada is like a boutique apartment over a meth lab. RIP Robin Williams
I’m curious about this one!🇨🇦
Perhaps he was referring to 'Canadian bacon', which is really sliced ham, and not bacon.
French is spoken in many countries including some countries the continent of Africa, Hati and as a result the language varies/slightly differs in Canada, France, Hati
Yes, as Canadians we are flattered at being recognized as a BACON of hope for the world.
By the world don't you mean America because we in Britain in particular associate bacon that isn't our own with Denmark?
Yes Michael Buble is Canadian. He actually built a house just down the street from me. Not that I’ve ever seen him. The house has a high wall around it as well, but he tours a lot, and I don’t think he’s around here too much.
Hey, Tyler Bucket, you're a sweetheart! Thanks for the vid, and hope you get to Canada soon, to see whatever you want to see here! :)
My Granny Brienza is from Sicily, she was a cook who took a lot of pride in her work and would never spit in her recipes, BUT, she knew plenty of Italians who did spit in food if they thought the person eating it was a Unionist. A lot of European countries do it, that's why Canadians always travel with a Maple Leaf showing somewhere on them, a hat, t-shirt, fanny pack etc. and are very quick to correct anyone assuming they're a Unionist. (Canadians and Mexicans are American too, the Union doesn't have exclusive rights to the term American...I'm taking it back.)
So, when are you coming up ? You could do a Canada vlog.
I'm sorry to tell you, but we have an ongoing joke about US beer. We say it's like sex in a canoe. You know, F'ing close to water.
All in jest these days, as your beer has greatly improved over the last 20 to 30 years. 😂
I hope you don't take offence.
Cheers buddy!
I forgot about that joke!
When the French Canadians go to France and speak French, the people of France get offended as the Canadians are not speaking Frances' French. I been all over France, and yes, we should wear a Canadian Flag 🇨🇦 on my clothing. (Don't want to be thought of as a US citizen either) In France, I always get asked, "Are you from Quebec?". I laugh and say no. They then become more friendly towards me. Sorry, Quebec, but this happened so much.
the best of it is the french from France use more english words day to day then here in Quebec
The Quebecois accent is the best Frencb accent.
Canadians consider american beer to be just water!! The reason is that beer in Canada generally has a higher alcohol content than most American beer.
I do hope some time in the near future you do a RUclips on Rick Hansen's Man in Motion Tour. The man who wheel chaired around the would.
I’m Canadian and on a trip to France & Italy, there were a few American couples on our tour bus. We didn’t know they were American at first because they all had Canadian backpacks and Canadian flag stickers on their luggage, etc. When we all got talking, they told us that they were from New York yet were strongly advised by their travel agent to never identify as American on travelling. I asked why,…even though I had heard the story before,…and they said that their travel agents told them that many counties have a dislike for the USA and Americans. They said that if any danger happens (like hostage talking or crime), that they’re told that Americans will be targeted first and are commonly treated poorly since they are seen as arrogant, obnoxious, rude etc.
I have consistently observed American travellers doing this on other trips when in tour groups and they’ve admitted to being told this by travel agents.
Not sure if you have ever considered this Tyler, but I would love to see a video of you travelling through the Canadian provinces, if you think about it, YOU could easily use your following base to secure accommodation and get the best tours ever, if you would like I would easily host a visit from "A typical American citizen "such as yourself! Really enjoy your reviews.
Also, his US dollars would go far right now in Canada. I get paid in Canadian dollars but have to spend mostly US$, it's quite bad.
I would be delighted to welcome Tyler to Vancouver.
I find it funny how you skipped over the comment from France saying that "contrary to popular belief Canadian are not as nice as Americans" 😊.
"on top of a meth lab" is an old Robin Williams joke.
Beer from Canada is better. i can agree with since i live here. I don't like American beers. what they are calling bacon is what we call ham. Bacon n Ham are different cuts
I think Europe doesnt learn as much about Canada as they do about the states. Kind of sad imo but guess thats a good thing
We have 2 kinds of bacon... the regular stuff and what we call Canadian Bacon or back bacon. If you're used to the regular stuff and get served the other it may be a surprise. Also, nice is not the same as polite.
Hey what do you think about the freedom convoy in Ottawa?
The issue of Hans Island was settled. It was split 40/60.
I didn't realize...I hope we got the 60. ha
