    For future drill battles I think that the speed used on the drill should be the speed that will enable the drill to perform its best at that task. This would be more accurate to field use because lets be real no one is using their drill on low speed to run drywall screws or the high speed to run long lags. Other wise I loved it on TTR LIVE and loved the summary above too. I appreciate all the work you put in for doing these live reviews. Keep em coming!

    Hey VCG, humble suggestion. Love the channel by the way! When you post the point and the bell rings, can you make the loosing tool a tad darker so it's more clear which tool got the point or throw up a winner sticker by the winning tool or a little checkmark? Sometimes its difficult to tell which tool gets the point and my memory sucks so I forgot what the score was half the time. Just a very very humble suggestion.
    Please please please please get your hands on the old 18 volt recip dewalt and show us how it compares to the newer version of the 20 volt non XRP, compact two handed XRP, and the brand new full size XRP. I'm trying to make up my mind to get a new 20 volt but not sure if it's worth it and which one you guys recommend. Thank you so much and sorry for the 3 page book of a message. Cheers my friends

I Usually use a frame drill but there are times where i have to pull out the dcd991 and get in some lovely place to drill 4-6 holes. The handle on the new 998 and 999 really interests me. I would like to know which drill truly has more power without stalling in deep holes, the 998 with its 8ah or the 999 with its 6ah flexvolt...? (Stock configurations)

    I know I'm a bit late to the party, but because of your videos, I purchased the DCD998 (to go with my other existing DeWalt tools), and I have to say, holy crap that thing has power. We had to take apart our old deck, and my regular dewalt drill from a 5 tool combo kit just wasn't doing it, and screws the regular drill could barely get out, the 998 got them out like butter! I can also brag to my father-in-law since he has two 996s, one with the flex battery, and my drill does a bit better :). Can't wait till next summer to rebuild our old rotting deck with my 998, it's a tank for sure! Barely have to charge the 8Ah battery, it goes forever!
    Curious to know, from your drill driver video you did, would the 998 still fall in as a Pro drill with 996, or would it join it's competition, the Milwaukee, into the Expert drill category?

    I just ordered a Dewalt XR hammer drill and impact drill combo. I’ve got a Milwaukee Fuel combo, but I’ve been having bad luck with the Surge impact drill. The first one started leaking. The second one would stay on speed 1, and now I’m on my third surge and it won’t go in reverse and the motor has whining noise. I am a DIY and use these mainly for woodworking projects. My impact drill started having issues while building a fence. I’m pretty disappointed.

    • @beefysghost867
      @beefysghost867 4 года назад +1

      I hate the surge, yea it quieter but not worth loosing all the torque. I have both and use them on the jobsite everyday. Only time I pull out surge is if in a residential building.

    • @gusgusnft8231
      @gusgusnft8231 4 года назад

      Zach Donahoe I agree. The Surge feels like it’s less powerful. I don’t think the surge likes being in the sun. It was like 105 degrees last summer and I was outside building some benches, and the surge started leaking fluid from the motor and lost power completely. This was within the first week it came out. Milwaukee was quick to replace it.
      I guess the moral of the story is that you need to have more than one tool just in case. Luckily, I’ve got my old M12 impact drill.

    I really like them both. I love the 12v Milwaukee tools for around the house light powerful enough for hanging pictures, or assembling stuff. Like a conceal carry drill but I am the market for a full size cordless drill. My current full size is a Dewalt xrp 14.4 v NiCad and all the batteries are dead, they always were the minute they left the charger...So I have a bad taste for Dewalt batteries. On the other hand, the Milwaukee has some of electronics of the drill in the battery, do we really need blue tooth in a drill? I am leaning more towards DeWalt because the drill was good when the batteries had a charge. This video shows its a wash for me, they are both great! So now its an eco system and bare tool decision.

    As much as I bleed red (who'da thunk), I have the previous gen ONE-KEY hammerdrill and it's chuck is GARBAGE (and I'm having a damn hard time removing it to swap with a Rohm - if anybody has any ideas. I've removed the screw holding it on but still can't get the chuck itself to unscrew. I'll probably soak it in nut-buster once I get a new hammerdrill and can afford to leave it for like a week. I cut a 3/8" hex key to tighten the chuck onto and try to get it off with an impact. But haven't had any luck yet and get a bad feeling that trying for too long might damage the drill's motor or something). But aside from the chuck, I absolutely LOVE it. I keep finding more uses for the ONE-KEY adjustability that I never imagined I'd use as much as I do. I wish so bad that I had the current generation ONE-KEY instead but them's the breaks. Maybe I'll pick it up if it ever goes on sale and finally soak/remove the chuck on my current one.
    But anyways... Looks like the two drills are pretty evenly matched. The pricing is pretty evenly matched as well. It would seem at the end of the day, it comes down to preference (or whatever tool you happen to already have batteries/chargers/etc. for). I'd be curious to try out the dewalt and see how I like it - especially if it's this hammerdrill that they have an app-controlled version of. I have only one dewalt tool - and the battery for it even shit the bed (I'm trying to build a spot welder to be able to rebuilt it - as well as a few other old/dead batteries). And although I believe this is the uncommon occurrence of the dewalt being better than the milwaukee equivalent, I'd still trade it for the M18 compressor to streamline what batteries/charger I need (which would have allowed me to avoid my current situation of having the compressor being unusable due to one battery failing). So I can't imagine I'd ever realistically be interested in picking up any tools from another brand unless they're waaayyy better. But I'm all for competition in the marketplace

    I feel like you shouldn't add where the user messes up or there's a miscommunication. It then kinda becomes about the user not the tool?
    Otherwise it's always an amazing test and a great resource.

      @@actionjksn so you're saying Vince screwed up more than Nick? It sure seemed the other way. Not saying that the DeWalt is better, they both seem 95% comparable. But Nick sure lost a couple of tests by slipping bits and messing up with the ridiculously large holesaw. Mind you, I wouldn't have faired any better...
      Edit: ok I misread your post as saying it would show the Milwaukee winning 99% of the time. We agree then ;)

    Drills are similar,
    If you're just buying a drill, why not the milwaukee? Equal or better power and more compact.

    Milwaukee 5 yr warranty and dewalt 3yr warranty! The battery is the possibly the best part and milwaukee definitely wins that but both are great tools

    I imagine when Milwaukee comes out with a new Gen 4. They will need two handles to hold onto it. One on both sides. lol

    That had NO accurate sense in which drill is better!
    Just opened my Dewalt 998 out of the box yesterday! And I would find it hard to believe and cordless drill could bet this thing! In anything, it's an absolute beast of machinery!

    I feel bad for both the Milwaukee and DeWalt tools, looks like they both got beat the F up. Both great tool makers, I'm a DeWalt fan thanks to an unsure purchase by the wife 12 years ago.

    The Milwaukee M18 would have crushed the Dewalt if not for the ridiculous amount of operator error. You can't possibly take this test seriously. However, the fact that Milwaukee held its own with 18 Volts vs. 20 Volt counterpart, along with Milwaukee's warranty I'll take the Milwaukee any day of the week.

      palmer311 I’m excited to see how the XTR drill and impact perform. Kobalt’s non-XTR stuff was great, so I’d assume that the XTR should perform better. People sleep on Kobalt just because of the name.

    The DeWalt won by far. The only reason the milwaukee even got points is from the swrews. But that's what you impact is for. Milwaukee =precision DeWalt =power
