I'm surprised that Taker vs Michaels at Wrestlemania 26 was going to top this list, Both of their Wrestlemania bouts are highly ranked as the greatest Wrestlemania Matches of all time, in terms of work rate, but Rock vs Austin at X7 is probably the only match worthy of topping it
Austin vs Rock is the Pinnacle of WWF. Yes 2001--2002 is such a significant time In Sports Entertainment. WWF became WWE, WCW, and ECW where purchased. 2002 was the culmination of Pro Wrestling. When you've reached the top of the Mountain there only one way to go go down hill. Now WWE did their best to try and coast at the top, which they did for awhile, however with being the only game in town there's no where left for talent to hone their craft. Thus giving birth to Developmental and a show called Tough Enough.

Apart from Kingston vs Bryan for the WWE title, nothing came close to Miz vs Shane in Mania 35👍that match was unexpectedly fun and the ending was surprisingly creative👌Rollins vs Lesnar was crazy short, Batista vs Hemsley dragged out for too long, the Women's Main Event was sloppy and lackluster beside the winning moment of Lynch 🤷♂

Cultaholic I have a legitimate question. When you guys did the best wrestlemania main events list Taker vs HBK 2 was number 1 while Rock vs Austin from X7 was 4th on the list. What caused the change of the list?
Probably the feedback/comments they got resulting from the last list. You have to remember they weren't all watching wrestling when WMX7 took place so might not have fully understood how big/important it was at the time. Austin v Rock 2 was, and still is, essentially the biggest match in wrestling history, as it was the two biggest stars on the planet colliding at almost the exact point where wrestling was more popular than it had ever been previously or since.
I would honestly argue this list is perfect.... Except for one thing. HHH v Taker Hell in a Cell should absolutely be over their match from the year before. The one from 27 was good but the HIAC rematch at 28 was far better. More intense. And you talk about that double-finisher kickout from Taker... Their match was the first time since Taker faced Orton at 21 that I honestly thought we'd see Taker lose at Mania. So, aside from swapping the placement of those two matches, this list is spot-on.
Is Roman vs Brock at Summerslam the only time in history where the fourth PPV matchup between wrestlers was the only good one? Because that last man standing match was a banger.
I honestly feel, like a lot of people that the Undertaker Triple H match abd Ubdertaker Michaels match need to be switched. As much as was at stake in the Michaels match, the HHH/Undertaker match was so epic, adding Michaels to the match as ref, everything involved, including the double finish with H and Michaels on the Ubdertaker and the kickoff plus H needing to get helped out by the Undertaker and Michaels. You could even make a very valid argument for that being the best rematch ever.
Thats what was great about that WM. I only got back into wrestling then because of Austin, but it was great to see that the Main Event felt like a pick'em. Kept me coming back that show did
Yeah that was probably the only time I was scared of Vince's booking especially after he booked brock to beat roman on day 1. Luckily roman missed the show
I know Seth cashing in at Mania and the heist of the century was really really cool but Roman in that match was really compelling and interesting. Like he was getting his ass kicked but welcomed it with a smile and showed he was the only one not terrified of the monster who killed the streak. Idk maybe I'm the only one but that match should've been been able to finish before Seth cashed in. Like have Roman overcome Brock, celebrate, Seth comes from the crowd, knocks Roman dow from behind, hit him with a curbstomp, cash in, pin, then we get the same Seth Rollins celebration.
I agree with everything but having Seth cash in after the match. Him cashing in mid match was so unique and made the match feel even more special. I do agree that the match was still good before hand tho, despite the suppar booing that went into it
I swear I hated every second of that Kane vs Taker rematch, it did nothing but make Kane look like a total wimp. Also putting an entire halt to his destructional path after unmasking, and he would never be the same afterwards.

This countdown is a list of two STARK halves. Nineteen through ten are godawful. Number nine just skyrockets to great, and the rest of the list is amazing. There was no in-between on this list.
17 is still a better match regardless of the heel turn being a bad decision, it made sense as Austin wanted to do the run but it was just bad timing. The Vince/Austin alliance is still one of the best parts about 17.
It's such an easy story to tell, the nefarious villain just happens to get an unforeseen advantage the hero has to dig that much deeper to win. Makes it that much sweeter when he/she defies the odds and wins the thing. Plua now all other matches have to be that much shorter to accommodate the extra match, so I don't see that trend dying anytime soon.
I can see it. Cena vs. Fiend was unlike anything seen by that point, and it was a cinematic masterpiece. Austin/Rock III was good, but it's a straight Wrestling match with no shenanigans.
