    Additional information and corrections:
    1) body armor vest m90A should be worn under the jacket
    2) ear flaps from early Hjalm 90 helmet cover were often cut off by the servicemen.
    3) the rolled sleeves on M90L should be rolled with the come outwards like on the picture from Kosovo. I did it other way so the tab is visible on the review ( some people didn’t get it so clarifying).
    4)Utility bag was almost never worn the way shown in the video, but I saw it on two pictures, find it comfortable and kept it this way.
    5) the nylon slings like my H&K could also been self crafted.

      You can clearly see this at 0:54 on the second guy carrying extra ammo for the CG recoilless rifle, he hasnt removed the "ass protection" which I suspect the others have. Its all under the jacket.
      SOP in SIB (Strid i Bebyggelse) ~ MOUT is for everyone to wear the body armour, if only to help with sleeping on concrete. For any other enviorment its used as extra isolation in the 'tross' packing to keep your other clothes from soaking up cold moisture from the ground , or at the very least delay that process.

      The fabric on the helmet you call "earstraps" is actually for covering the whole head down to the jcket and was supposed to be folded down at strikes with chemical, biological or nuclear weapons/ammunition, when also the gas mask is putted on.

    The photo at 18:12 in the video is of me during my time in the Homeguard. The sling is, in fact not a H&K nylon sling, but rather a home made adjustable sling that a squad mate made for me.

    Regarding the Kroppsskydd 90A, it was meant to be worn under the field jacket so in many pictures or videos of soldiers appearing to wear no body armour, they are most likely wearing it under their field jacket.

    The 304/K was a vast improvement over the Strele-system. Also for the pouches, you carry three full mags in your left pocket and keep the right one as a drop pouch, in order to raise the mags in the pocket I put extra ammo under the loaded ones. That way I didn´t have to "dig" them out. Pls feel free to ask questions about the Homegaurd of the 1990s to approx 2005.

  • @Styvistan
    @Styvistan Месяц назад +4

    The utility bag at approx 11 min. was not a part of the 304K-system and was not meant to be worn under the arm, unlike the gas mask pouch. The utility bag was a back pack for an older system known as "Stridssele/S".
    I´ve been in the auxiliaries since 1991 and I´ve never even seen someone try to wear it under the arm. A few attempts has been made by individuals to use the utility bag as an fanny pack for the 304K but it doesn´t really work that well. It will fit the waist belt beeing the same width, but it doesn´t really clip on to the yoke of the 304K and thus demands some kind of ad hoc-fixing.

    • @RedIvanMilitaryEng
      @RedIvanMilitaryEng  Месяц назад

      I spotted this way of wearing on the picture shown right after the utility bag overview and decided to follow. Not sure, my clipped on flawlessly.

  • @Rbajter

    Hi! I used the stridssele system when I did my service in 93/94. We were instructed to close the ammo pocket using the top AND the bottom hole of the little strap. This makes it sit a little more snugly over the pin and you don’t have a long loose strap flapping around.

    Just some pointers, you have the later model of the m90 pants, which have a different cut that was introduced around 2008. The differences are a simplification of the seams at the crotch and bigger cargo pockets, those button loops for hooking the shoe laces instead of a metal hook. There was also a simplification of the side zipper design on the pant leg openings.
    Regarding the AK4, another feature that is different from regular G3s is two metal ridges as reinforcement close to the front disassembly pin on the lower receiver.
    Also, most home guard units had the old metal pot helmet with the old M59 helmet cover up until 2008 or so, same with the field cap. Lastly, I agree with you that thee 304K is the biggest piece of shit ever constructed, we had those issued as reserve webbing when I did my military service, not a single feature of the rig works as intended....

      Thank You for comment. With this particular video due to the language barrier there is a possibility of mistake or misunderstanding. So, I appreciate corrections.
      However I must point 2 things:
      1) my trouser were produced In 2005, so not modifications you discussed probably were introduced earlier than 2008.
      2) most of the footages and pictures in this video feature Homeguards in late 90es ( the video in the beginning) pictures of the Homeguards in 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2008 and a footage of the Homeguards in range in 2009 in the end. And as visible all of them have Hjalm 90 with 1st or 2nd pattern cover.
      According to my observations in all pictures and videos of the Homeguard past 1997 they already have Hjalm 90.
      However I admit that possibly all those pictures are taken in the best equipment available.
      Generally speaking 90 of my kit is based on the HG picture from 2001 that was added to the preview and the end of the video.

      @@RedIvanMilitaryEng Thanks for correcting me on the pants, I learn something new everyday! You are probably right on the helmets, but home guard companies are divided into "deployment companies" and "observation companies" where the deployment companies have more training days and much better equipment. If I'm not mistaken some of these lower tier "observation companies" even had the old m/45 smg issued up until 2007. Great video as always man! Really impressed by your knowledge on the subject!
