Divine Might was such a challenge, I didn't even care for the reward it was all about figuring out how to actually beat them with a standard group. I was responsible for keeping our EV tank going and he nearly died so many times on our successful clear. Not to mention almost deleveling from our failed attempts and that's with either Reraise or Raise 3 to reduce the xp penalty.
I'll never forget we were doing DM and we were actually doing pretty good and then someone infamously said in party "WE OWNIN" and then the HM used Mijin...and we all wiped..
Playing solo these were some of my favorite fights it was incrediblely rewarding to figure out strategies and trust situps to overcome these almost puzzleboxes
Ouryu was my wall during the level 50 cap era of her fight in CoP. Divine Might I cleared no issue. I was NIN/DRK and kited AA HM while the other parties took down the other angels.
i vaguely remember fighting the tarutaru one back in the day, and for some reason blackmages in ffxi could equip scythes, think they had a c or a d skill with them lol
Divine Might feels like it happened just yesterday-I still get chills thinking about it! The countless hours spent preping, only to face those brutal wipes afterward, haha. But honestly, I've never been this hyped for a patch. Can't wait to dive in!
Omg I loved DM music. Fondest memories I have come from when I finally completed my Terpsichore for my DNC and tanks struggled to keep hate off of a job people underrated for DD before swapping to tank stance to tank the Hume especially 😂
their fight for the story and for your special earring gear later were brutal fights once blu got added they got alot easier for sure dancer and scholar further made their fight less of a problem but still it absolutely was one of the og status symbols and marks of progress to get them done
The sky raid was something else. Unlike the raids in FF14, it was in a shared world. Meaning you had to work with other people before summoning your own bosses. Depending on which server you were in, this may have caused some drama. And oh boy, I had fair share of drama. People were stealing eachother farming items from certain rare drops. Mostly it was JP vs NA. The NA used to complain about the low ping of JP which helped them claim those rare mobs quicker. And how JP despised NA for not following their rules. It was basically a mini-war between them for a while.
aw man, hearing some of these requirements for unlocking bosses and features in XI really puts into perspective how less "multiplayer" XIV is. I do love that it's easier to get into for classic single player RPG and FF fans, I am one of them after all, but I would love for it to have more of these "bring your friends or make some to overcome these trials. We do have a few of those, but not enough IMO.
When they showed the Shadow Lord I thought the Ark Angels were the next obvious choice for a boss fight. I hope the last boss drops a glam chest like the Nier raid for Kam'Lanaut's drip.
Look at the requirements to spawn them. Speific times of the week. I kinda miss that sense of rarity to actions. It makes clearing regular missions feels like an achievement and it required collaboration with other players.
Ok, so awesome interaction with AAMR (envy) she will use the THF SP Perfect Dodge. If you are a 99 THF, you have a 2ed SP ability called Larceny. You can use it to steal other SP abilities from targets. If you Larceny her Perfect Dodge, she will Larceny back off of you!
I played though XI last year and EV was by far the toughest fight. I was doing the expansions in order of release so only had 3 trusts at that point. Had to level to over 80 to beat it.
I wish the devs chose the Ark Angels for the first Chaotic Alliance Raid instead of fighting CoD for the 3rd time in FFXIV. Imagine if they did a 6-man party for each alliance like FFXI for this particular Chaotic. Maybe every Chaotic could have been 18-man from that point onwards.
I remember I tried to do DM manaburn once and... boy was that a big part of why I dropped playing BLM! that, and not really jiving with My Dynamis LS' suicide strats they expected of BLMs.
Seeing these kinds of videos and the 7.1 trailer itself makes me want to try ff11, is it worth it? Or is it far too late into the game's lifespan to do so and should just settle for history videos like this?
It’s quite a different game now than it was when it came out. I think a new player would be really confused because at the start of the game they throw all of these expansions at you at once without trying to keep a cohesive story plot. They got added all through the years, so you randomly zone in somewhere and you get nonsensical cutscenes from expansion number 4 or 5 (for instance) out of the blue. They need to retool the whole experience. I don’t like the game as is, and much prefer the 75 level cap era with Treasures of Aht Urgan as the last expansion. It would be amazing if they revamped the game using the FF14 engine and brought it into a somewhat modern era of aesthetics and gameplay/interface, but that would require creativity and effort. I’m not holding my breath.
I just remember using cor in a party and surving the group fight somehow ×.× Then was told by someone in jueno they been watching me and wanted to add me to thier linkshell Learned some people turn games into jobs Said fuckit and switched from my elven to my miqoute candykisses and became obsessed with dancer and beastmaster forgetting I had a elven o.o In short they was a turning point in my game lol
Im happy to get their gear but im gonna need iconic player gear from this raid series to. im talking scorpion harness honam kirins osode hauburgeon askar set vermillion cloack the dusk set or even some iconic early leveling gear
A few of those are tied to Eureka, though maybe you're asking for a dyeable version? Cause that's what I would want. I forget what it's called but FF11 had a really awesome looking set for BRD that I hope we get eventually. Kind of a similar style to Pictomancer AF. Never did get the drop to make it myself and the cloth alone was way too expensive for me to just buy.
@Draylin41 I just want iconic gears from 11 that players used. There was armor level 20 all the way to 75 that were milestone pieces you worked hard for or saved up for. Those pieces would be used for long stretches of time. That German named set wars and paladins used in the early 30s that orange and black checkerboard armor anything that was heavily used by lots of people
I am very curious why my feed is suddenly so full of videos of people trying to explain FF11 to me. I don't intend this as a complaint, make whatever videos you want. I'm just curious.
Not sure if this is a troll or what, but at least for Happy he's mainly known for FFXIV guides and content and there's going to be a new raid series in the game based on FFXI. Not everyone played both games or haven't played XI in a while, so it's good to have some context about these things.
Well ff 11 is about to be all up in 14 and not everyone that plays 14 played 11 this is a good way to get people to understand what's going on and who people are in this raid a lot of people were confused with the ff 12 and nier raids
@@DacianGradaMusic It saddens me that even when I make all of the disclaimer that the question is serious, people still somehow think it might be a troll. Makes it a little difficult to have a conversation. What I'm wondering is, why this alliance raid, specifically?
Love the "if we just throw a bunch of BLMs at it we might win!" strat. Very emblematic of XI's RPG-ness.

I always though the Cardinal Virtues in FFXIV were a reference to these guys

I still remember Divine Might. Kiting HM, GK and EV was stressful.
Everything we did in FF11 was stressful. Honesty, how did we even had the patience to do all of them.
Who are they? They literally gave me nightmares in FF11 and were a pinnacle fight. It was truly epic.
Ouryu was my wall during the level 50 cap era of her fight in CoP. Divine Might I cleared no issue. I was NIN/DRK and kited AA HM while the other parties took down the other angels.
I recall we had to sleep the mage??
These guys used to be scary, especially together. I’m so excited for everyone to meet them!
Wish they also dropped their weapons, ArkAngel HM had some cool swords that'd look nice for a Viper.
i vaguely remember fighting the tarutaru one back in the day, and for some reason blackmages in ffxi could equip scythes, think they had a c or a d skill with them lol
They could not equip many 2 or 3 and it was d skill, but it was stupid touse one
@@aaronclay4665 yah the staves were so much better.
2:11 is the nerdiest eight second sentence I have ever heard. Haha. Love it.
Thanks!
The stories you've been telling are interesting, but man the gameplay footage makes me glad I bounced on FFMMO1 as early as I did.

Yeah we had to schedule with other linkshells who was popping what god and when. I miss the early 2000’s 75 level cap days.

FFXI is still active, if you want to find a group of friends and play through it! It’s still surprisingly fun!

I started playing FFXI this year and Ark Angel EV might be my most hated boss in a game in a good while. Horrifying to fight solo with trusts.
I played though XI last year and EV was by far the toughest fight. I was doing the expansions in order of release so only had 3 trusts at that point. Had to level to over 80 to beat it.
@marzocchi705 I had to do that too! I still couldn't crack it, so I finally ended up having to ask a higher level player for help.
