Man I searched fir this cover for the first time since I first heard it back in 2009! I am so glad it’s still here!! It’s always on my list of covers that were almost as good as the original or holds it’s own🥲
That's the reason Andy sang it. The band decided to follow in the Beatles footsteps and have the drummer sing it. The whole segment used to be posted here awhile ago. Now all that you can find is the actual recording. The rehearsal and interview segment was almost 10 minutes long.
in all fairness. he is not the regular singer of the band. he is the drummer. considering he is out of his normal role as a homage to ringo... i think he did well.
When I heard Razorlight were doing a cover of this, I cringed. But when I realised that arrogant Johnny Borrell wasn't taking part, I was elated! The drummer's quite a good singer as well - he does a good job here!
so am I didn't they do this because The Beatles Drummer (Ringo) sang this on the original and thay wanted to pay homage with the upmost respect so they got their drummer to cover it?
Because Johnny usually comes to recordings but he didnt that day... I don't know why but Andy's a gr8 singer! Ur right! He shud sing more often (no offence Johnny!)
@aterrorx Listen to this (or any of the tracks form this album) and then listen to the original - they all lack the tasty ear candy exquisiteness. Not dissing any of the bands, but...
joemaclean, I get you, I really do and also thank you for seeing no bitterness at all in my words, but I think that saying "Paul wasn't bad on bass" does not pay justice to the reality. I see there are a lot of subjective reasons to like or dislike a musician's playing, but there are also objective parameters -not technical necessarily- that tell us that a player is great, and Paul certainly was. Great imaginative lines, an unortodox (for the time) use of the harmonies...
comparing paul with flea? i mean thats comparing aples with pears. they both have diffrent styles and use diffrent instruments. and its not always about what you play but more about how you play it
Yep it's Razorlight, but seeing as in the original it was Ringo (the drummer) who was lead vocals, Razorlight decided to do the same, seeing as their own drummer isn't that bad a singer. ~malcy
It is good but i always thought that the point of a cover was to take the song and make it your own...these guys do a bang up job but the best cover version of this song, in my opinion, is Joe Cocker's he slows the song down and makes it very soulful. But thats just one mans opinion.
They got the drummer to sing and play this one because this was Ringo Starr's contribution to the Sgt. Peppers album all those years ago. Love it =)

Oh I did exactly the same. So true, I like how the drummer sings and is sweet
That's the reason Andy sang it. The band decided to follow in the Beatles footsteps and have the drummer sing it. The whole segment used to be posted here awhile ago. Now all that you can find is the actual recording. The rehearsal and interview segment was almost 10 minutes long.

Andy cantas muy bien!!
amazing! :)
Once this song is over, I'm already listening -in my mind- to the intro of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. The attachment is so vivid...
hope they release this as an album
Much better generally than i expected
Yea thats pretty fantastic
This version is excellent!
Thanks for clearing that up! Andy (i think that's the drummer's name?) has a very Beatles voice.
wow good!!!!!!
btw, dunno about razorlight, but with a little help from my friends was actually written by john and paul for ringo to sing
@AFOH i cant get separeted from the those attachments
not bad not bad at all love it they come real close to the beatles but they have they on style and it,s cool love it we need more
@AFOH i cant get separeted from the those attachmets
And you are Greatness!
i can now accept razorlight's existence
Razorlight and Travis are the best of the set
wow..nice observation
This is good.
I like how the drummer sings it like Ringo did=]
and hes british too, so yeah. lol nice job!
why is johnny not there at all? how can they call it razorlight without him?
in all fairness. he is not the regular singer of the band. he is the drummer. considering he is out of his normal role as a homage to ringo... i think he did well.
good idea letting the drummer. he has a good voice
how can you forget the name?
that´s a rickenbacker 4003, one of the greatest basses ever made!
Does anyone know when (and if) they're releasing a CD of the sessions?
it´s a good cover :)
what's happened to Borell? he's not singing here?
Would also like to know if these covers from that show is on a CD or DVD.
I think they are trying to do the same thing as the 4 done back in the day, they got the drummer to do lead vocals on this track, I could be wrong =/.
nice :D
fender precision (the yellow one)
and a rickenbacker 4003 (red one)
rat looks like hes got something STINKy in his nappy!!! cheer up mate .. this is an awesome cover ... :)
???? which clown gave me the thumbs down?
I think it's a good version!
where is lucy in the sky?, and who did the version for this album or whatever it is
Where's Borel?
thanks your comment made me smile =]
When I heard Razorlight were doing a cover of this, I cringed. But when I realised that arrogant Johnny Borrell wasn't taking part, I was elated! The drummer's quite a good singer as well - he does a good job here!
The thing about this cover that is seriously lacking is the strong bass part that makes this song so great.
lylyopp - jonny aint there cos ringo starr sang the lyrics on the original and he was the drummer so the razorlight drummer - andy sang on this 1
pmsl ringo star sang it lol this is bril i was like wha the hell wen i heard it. its just class
omg that kid sing just like the original song ...
awsome
so am I didn't they do this because The Beatles Drummer (Ringo) sang this on the original and thay wanted to pay homage with the upmost respect so they got their drummer to cover it?
Is this at Abbey road studios?
Nahhh - Ringo did it cause he sang a song every album, and the bands covering for the 40th anniversary were trying to get as close as possible. :-)
Tht is the beatles!!!, Andy has an amazing voice , Johny shoald b scared !!!!
anyone notice the missing johnny borrelli? (sp?)
did they kick the lead singer out, cuz if they did awesome this guy has a really good voice
it's Andy who sings
Aye from the front angles mainly lol
haha with other bands the comment would have buried, here i got a thumbs up :P
no lucy in the sky with diamonds??
Yeah it is, Johnny couldn't be arsed turning up, drummer did vocals.
Because Johnny usually comes to recordings but he didnt that day... I don't know why but Andy's a gr8 singer! Ur right! He shud sing more often (no offence Johnny!)

wish the bbc wud issue the album
"When you was a kid" That wasn't angry, just my opinion. I'm sure more people than not will agree.
the whole point of a cover is that the band reinvents the song they are covering, and in certain ways make it their own
i saw this before, i must have been one of the 224,788 rofl
Damn straght :)
ironic that the drummer of razorlight sings for the cover and the drummer of the beatles sang the original. i think it was planned.
Where the hell is Johnny? It's really unprofessional of him not to show up.
Yep it's Razorlight, but seeing as in the original it was Ringo (the drummer) who was lead vocals, Razorlight decided to do the same, seeing as their own drummer isn't that bad a singer.
~malcy
Bass isn't quite there. But then, nor everybody is Sir Paul.
oh, they should let the drummer sing more in razorlight
How come thier bassist starts out with an off-white P-bass, but ends up with a Rickenbacker??
Strange :)
It is good but i always thought that the point of a cover was to take the song and make it your own...these guys do a bang up job but the best cover version of this song, in my opinion, is Joe Cocker's he slows the song down and makes it very soulful. But thats just one mans opinion.
I just got mind fcked
This is slightly scary of how close their sound is to the Beatles..wow
wow it's a good version... it sounds like the original but if lennon was singinng high instead or ringo...
haha well done i liked it when the others backed it up like lennon and mccartney
have u heard liam gallagher sing? hes in a diff league from all brit singers.
It is obviously never going to be, its a tribute
2 basses? wtf?
I love how this is the first time Razorlight have sounded good and its because Johnny Borrel isn't with them..
