I like to fish a swimbait on pressured waters. Fish get conditioned to rattles and blades and learn to know those baits and just leave them alone for the most part. But silent baits like swimbaits can be really productive because they tend to be more accurate to the bait fish the bass are feeding on and the bass aren't as put off by them.
I slammed Bass last Fall with these... And I was able to confirm everything Randy said here, and then some. I found that I didn't need clear water, with one small change... I was catching a bunch of fish (nice ones too) in cool water (50 to 55 degrees) with less than 1 foot of visibility by changing to an Okashira Screwhead to add a little flash and wobble. I paired with a 3" Spark Shad, in the shad color, and I put a spot of Chartreuse on the tail... Couldn't stop catching them! I fished one spot for 4 hours, caught over 30 largemouth, most were over 2 pounds, several were over 3 pounds, and I got a 4.5 pounder too! It's my new favorite bass bait!
That spark shad on the screwhead works really well from spring to fall here in KY! Awesome bait. But with the screwhead, you have to glue the rubber keeper behind the spinner to keep said spinner in place quite a bit!
Finesse swimbait is probably my favorite finesse technique. Naturally narrowed it down to 4 baits: 3 mentioned above and Easy Shiner. Other baits in this category just don't get bit that much. Sometimes if the water is gin clear Fish Arrow Flash J may be a good addition with super lightweight jighead. When it comes to three and a half inch to five inch swimbaits the bait are the same as well for me.
@@randyblaukatintuitive basically same as all Europe. Mostly perch, when they get over a pound they are pretty fun to catch. Also pike, walleye and asp (predator carp basically). We got a really big problem with poaching and catch a release is more of exception than the rule so fishing challenging. For a good fishing experience you have to fly to other parts of the country like Siberia to Kola peninsula to fish for Taimen, Arctic Char, King Salmon.
@@valentinmalinin I wonder why nobody has introduced large mouth bass to Russia? They seem to do pretty well in other European countries and South Africa
@@randyblaukatintuitive simple answer is it's really cold, there was an experiment back USSR in one lake near Sochi, despite it's one of the southernmost points of Russia it's still on the same latitude as Minnesota. For some weird reason they decided to introduce largies and not smallies so they died in few years during severe cold winter.
I gotta tell ya Randy I tried that bridgeford beef jerky for the first time the other day and it it by far better than any jack links very tender and tasty
Great video and I remember you did one on this very same jig head but you painted the head with red fingernail polish. Is that still a good option with one of these swimbaits? As always thanks for sharing this with us!!
Here in PA, I’ve been jacking them in super cold water on a spark shad with an owner flashy swimmer. The blade on the underspin helps keep it down near the bottom and just slow roll it. The 3 inch spark shad on the underspin caught numbers, the 4 inch caught the photo worthy bass
I am so excited for ice 🧊 to be off the lake and get in my kayak. I just need to remember to come back to these videos when they match my time vs southern lakes weather…. Anyone have a good bookmark system for RUclips videos?
Randy..the Megabass Shads a very expensive in germany..in my opinion to expensive..i have a family a house a doughter..cannot afford this. Do you have a tip for cheaper shads?
Hi Randy !!!! outstandig video !!! PLEASE, PLE ASE give us a video how to fish the swimbaits and swimjigs on the water just like you did in your HOW TO FISH A JIG for beginers Video Greetings from Mexico !!! By the way .... whats the weight on the megabass jighead ???
Why not just use a texas rig rather than a jig head? I know an open hook is better off shore but when beating the bank or around cover why not use the texas rig? A good swimbait will not roll.
Certainly could around cover I suppose. A good jig head just looks better, swims better than a bullet weight and buried hook, and there's zero need for burying a hook when fishing for suspended fish in open water. Suspended fish in deep trees is a different story.
“Wait a second, that fish has TWO SETS of eyes! Ive never seen a fish with that many eyes, mehhhh I don’t think this is such a good idea” Meanwhile I’m out there throwing husky medusas for musky WHICH LITERALLY LOOK LIKE NO ORGANISM EVER, musky and pike love hitting them with absolute violence, catfish destroy them once in a while and even bass. What kind of bass are you fishing for that aren’t going to be okay with two sets of eyes?
JSYallK, I don't watch some of the videos, just paused it, and comment. So yah, stop accusing me of learning from Randy. For this video, "Use a round jighead?"
I have been using these swimbaits for a month now and I am killing the bass. THANKS YOU!!!!!!!!

When I place in my first bass tournament. I will be thanking you, Greg Blanchard and Bryan Latimer. You guys are the best
Lfg!!! You got it man
Here in Tennessee, we have been blessed with abundant small streams to fish. These finesse swimmers are great for this.

The hazadong is one of the best dropshot and swimbait lures around by far. Thanks Randy i hope your not gonna start dancing on TikTok lol
I live in Southern California and I love throwing a 2 inch Keitech easy shiner on a 1/32oz. Size 3 jig head, and I catch them on that all year round
I fish a super clear lake and have had good success fishing them just above the grass👍😎❤️
I been tearing em up on the kytech…I mean flat out getting after em!!!
Enjoyed the video Randy ,I live in Neosho and went to Bait Works a couple of weeks ago. That is a awesome place.
Just bought a bunch of hazedong & spark Shad’s + jig heads. Guess it’s a good time to buy!
Keep it up randy really like your videos they have helped me !!
I love megabass finesse swim baits especially with the Okishira head.
Definitely have caught alot fish on both hazedong& spark shad I like 3 & 4"

What fish do you primarily fish for in Russia?

When do you use the mega bass head with the prop behind the head?
What size is the jig head and hook on the jig head you use for the different lengths of swim baits
How do a quick water clarity check ? Do you use a big bright lure ?
Sorry Randy I must have been the 1 out of 10. Thank you it is quality info.
After you pop the eyes off take a black marker and make shad spot on the side!
I'm back , going fishing in a Florida bass stocked lake on Tuesday afternoon 😎. Man, you been busy today. Also going to try this.
I gotta tell ya Randy I tried that bridgeford beef jerky for the first time the other day and it it by far better than any jack links very tender and tasty
I have a three inch spark shad tied on all year.
All great baits, I like the 3.3 keitech more than the 2.8. Like that spinhead too.
Great video thanks

Just curious - do you use a clinch knot or loop knot with that bait set-up?

Thx man… 1/8 th oz
Happy to sub, teach me how to fish!
I am the same when it comes to the extra eyes, but even the extra gill details bother me so I cut the head off the bait.
Seems like the first time the sunshine has hit the tackle room in a while
You do know that when you're reeling that in , that the eye where the line attaches will be on top ? Right.
He rigged all 3 perfectly
Spark shad is my go to cold water bait. Have had excellent results this winter right before and after ice out
"Kentuckies": The tiny spotted bass you catch outside of ALABAMA! 🤣
China owns tiktok
China made about 99% of your fishing equipment too. No one cares.
Fine baits indeed
Don't worry bout them xtra eyes brother
More eyes catch more fish
Hazedong looks great, but is a one bite and gone lure… awfully expensive bite
I rigem with a kink in it instead of straight. The bass see it straight 99 percent of the time.
