i actually think alex played very well... amazing play by alex's ryu. this was back in 2002 which makes it even more surprising how well he played ryu sa1.
iirc this was basically the first time American players had ever seen Urien aegis unblockables and shennanigans. Wong vs Tokido in this set is particularly embarrassing. Whatever happened to Pyrolee?
Japanese hero worship, you've got a bad case of it. Thank you for teaching me how ignorant you are. How about you play against Alex in 3rd Striike, or hell. Even me. I'll teach you something.
@carelessmorning People, or anyone who played Ryu, did "The Valle" back in SF 3. It's not hard to come up with it, it's just when SF4 and streaming came out, people started calling it that.
Tokido is my age so at that time in 2002 he was around 17-18 year range. That’s how old I was at that time. I grew up around this era and games in SoCal, played many many hours of fighting games but I didn’t even know there was a competitive scene. I missed out in being part of history. 😢.
3S was hated for years until around the time Tokido showed up and Evo Moment 37. Most people stuck with A2 or ST. 3S didn't really get vindicated until around 04, and even then a lot of oldheads still hate it.

This was before frankie introduced denjin to the ryu meta, right?
@@lmao1660 Vanao was the earliest usage of denjin I can recall, at least in Japan.
Alex did pretty good, especially since this was the time when players overseas were getting the game all wrong

Damn this is old...im actually old now too.
Yeah, I was like 6 years old when that happened
@@brandonsanchez7465 wasn’t even born
I was 12 years old lol
Alex Valle is the only person that could even keep up with tokido and mester lol.
wow intense first round. u got alex attempting to parry that aegis combo and then u got that urien trick at :46
Crush. Kill. Destroy.
Alex started "The Valle" back in 3s? :p
I love this match.
@SithLordRagnos 2002,... it was 2002...
Poor guys got wrecked. Thank you Japan for teaching us how to REALLY play 3s.

so tokido defeated the entire USA team by himself?
2002? that makes Tokido around 7 years old lol

Damn we were horrible at this game.
Speak for yourself
Because nobody in America during 1998 when SF3 came out liked it. Only a handful played 3rd Strike so the level of competition wasn't there.

Going back to Ryu after playing Ken is soo rough.
Valle has some balls, picking Ryu in a tournament.
Isn't 3S Ryu supposed to be even worse than AE Ryu?
This match seems pretty tame compared to the 3S matches nowadays...
@SithLordRagnos lol
Alex>Justin
Valle fanboys... lmao.
Japanese worship fanboys LMAO!
