I'm living in a recovery house and this song came out at the perfect time. This is my 5th in treatment/sober living... I'm beyond grateful. We all need eachother and reading the comments made me makes it feel less lonely. Let's get sober for all those we've lost, and will never forget. 🌹
Don't give up Justine. You CAN do this- even when it feels like you can't. I went into treatment so many times. Maybe 12 or 13. I lost count. I had come to the conclusion that I just couldn't get through life without using. I finally got to the point where I felt like I had to either get healthy, or die because I couldn't possibly keep going the way I was. I decided to just try everything. Dug deep into therapy. Read as many self help books I could get my hands on. Took DBT classes and did a skilled recovery group. And I actually found my way. It's been over 12 years since I stopped abusing drugs! I have a beautiful family and a job I love. I'm so grateful that I didn't give up. If I can get through it- given how defeated, lost and messed up I was- you can too. You have to dig deep. Keep your head down and stay out of the drama in the house. You are fighting for your life and nothing else is as important as that!
I don't know you, but I'm sending positive vibes out into the universe for you. And I hope one day you too can look back and be amazed by yourself for making it out. Hang in there!!

This song hits home so hard. Ive struggled with addiction for 6 years and its the most exhausting and depressing thing. My conscience is so far gone I cant sleep at night because this isnt who I should be and it bothers me to the core. Hope youre doing better Macklemore. I known youve had your lows recently and it always makes me feel stronger myself everytime you pull yourself out of that hole. *God grant me serenity, to accept the things I cannot change and courage to change the things that I can.*

I got to 7 years sober a week ago. I still don’t know how I stayed sober through covid and all the lockdowns in Toronto. So many people I got sober with relapsed during this time. The song touches me a lot. That's how the last 10+ years have felt to me. Clean for 3 months, medication and drugs "kill" your emotions, empathy and eventually your soul. Once the poison is out of the body, one recovers quickly. Your emotions come back and your soul starts to "glow" again! You can laugh again, cry... All the things you thought you'd lost forever. My motivation to quit was my family, my two young children. To all who have this path ahead of them. It's going to be tough, but it's worth it! HANG IN THERE! Nothing in life comes for free. It's an exam. You will be stronger afterwards than ever before!
