My wife just got me this 1982 kit for xmass, is there anything I need to keep a look out for when building this kit this will be my first big boy build and I don’t want to screw it up so I come to the master 👍🏻
Excellent!! Not sure about being the master! My recommendation would be to buy the photo etch set, it makes it massive difference

2 things I know about the USS new jersey: it is a battleship, not a cruiser, not a destroyer. The USS New Jersey is the greatest American battleship. And I live near it.

I tend to try and build and paint up ships as smaller subsections, so it is an ongoing process as it were
I have a Question: do you paint first then assemble or do you assemble then paint everything???
That is a very good question. I try and build up subassemblies to the point where I need to start painting. So on the New Jersery, the masts, superstructure, main guns, things of that nature I built up to this point, applied any photo etch and then carried on with assembly.
Ok my New Jersey just got to my house and I have a quick question. At what point did you put your wooden deck on the ship?

Odd thing is that the Seahawks included in the kit are not accurate to the timeframe this kit is supposed to represent. The Helo's used around that time were the SH-2 SeaKings.

Such a shame this thing is severely overpriced I’d love to have just one of these I currently own a revel uss Missouri 1:535 and while it’s cool I was mostly hyped about the stern and propellers and after digging for a few days befor it arriving I found out it didn’t have propellers I immediately looked for a bigger scale and other brands only to see that they are over 100 and even 1000 fucking dollars they should only be around 20 to 30 bucks and you Should be able to get them with out those golden packs for extra detail,I don’t build the models for show I build them for use like floating and sinking with built in bulkheads and ballace weight how ever I always want the best I can get and the correctly modeled hull
I agree.The 1:535 Missouri have no Propellers😖which is the worst...Revell has many Modells.Some of them are nice and some of them are completely Rost..
It also depends in which country they are produced.
I believe that the best ship Modells you can buy are from Tamija and Trumpeter.You can't get wrong.
Monogramn an all American firm was also pretty good,but they are no more..
However the price for a good modell is pretty high.But with a little luck you can get them for half of the price.
The trick is you have to take a look at different Models Shops in the net.Ebay and Amazon...well,i never bought some things there.
Just look on the openmarket,and once you found a good shop,and they know you after a while and they will make you a special price..
