As a driver, I can say Respect and transparency is the key to keep drivers
most of the time companies don’t stand on there commitments at the time of hiring and don’t care about there drives home time and force them to stay on the road longer for there own benefits

Without the things you teach I would be lost coming into this industry as a driver and one day a company owner operator. Thanks for the time you take away from your free time and family to teach my wife and i.

Alaska New Mexico and North Dakota abuse this w9, or 1099 horribly
    Thank you Miranda. Excellent information.
Several things I’ve learned is that you will never stop learning. And humility. Respect too. Not only for your employer, but his or her equipment, fellow employees and your self. Complaining will get you no where except the unemployment line. And it doesn’t matter how much experience you have, if you run intrastate in Alaska, don’t expect to get an otr job in the lower 48, most companies won’t except it. There were a couple other things but I forgot lol
I remember, the worst thing you can do break or damage something and lie about it. Owners hate that probably more than rolling a truck. Honesty
I’ve seen guys damage something and lie and get fired, while another may roll a truck and get back in another one within a week at the same company. I’m overthinking all this. But I think when it comes to hiring someone, honesty respect and integrity play major roles, along with experience of course

    Miranda,
I just recently found your channel and I have to say that I am extremely impressed with your focus on the trucking industry. I am a 20-year sales veteran of the tractors and I have heard allot from drivers over the years mainly owner operators and I have to say that you are a God send to this industry. My curiosity about you is why did you want to enter into this industry at this time in your professional career and what is your background? I sense that you have a very strong advanced education, and you spent many years in the corporate world at an executive level. If I was a driver or owner operator, I would love to be a " team member" of yours. I can see in the near future when your reputation becomes more viral with thousands of followers that you will be approached by one of the top five carriers in the industry to offer you a very strong compensation package to have you on their team. I just started a new career in this industry with a truck customer of mine operating a freight brokerage as an agent and I love the challenges of this side of the table. Your videos are off the charts helpful so please keep the content fresh and coming. I am watching you only on RUclips because you are such a great instructor with real life visuals/ charts that click with me as to how the industry is performing. Your partners are very lucky to be on your team and they best be soaking up your knowledge like a sponge. I just can't comprehend you as to only having 3 years' experience in the industry. Wow!! You go girl!!

This was very informative! I just started with a company to do some part time work recruiting drivers for over the road, and I have no idea where to start. This is great information. The company is having a very tough time retaining OTR drivers. I don't know what the issue is, but I want to be able to investigate first to get to the root of the problem, then try a different approach. I would love to connect with you for additional insight. Thank you

    So question...if I own a truck and trailer, my own mc #, etc. I hire a driver as an independent contractor based on this business model;
    1) Work when you want to.
    2) take the loads you want to
    3) fuel where you want to with my fuel card
    4) take home time when you want to
    5) drive safe and be responsible
    6) hit monthly gross goal of $xxxxx
Could this be considered hiring a driver as an independent? I would not be supervising his day to day, telling him where to go, what loads to get etc. Provide the truck, trialer, fuel card, and access to 2 load boards..and say go get em tiger 🤷🏻‍♂️

Most of my friends who have been trucking for more than 15 years are down with Kidney failure.
The current Hours of service mandates are making it worse because they are making you drive for 11 hours almost straight , which is very bad for Kidneys and lever.
