This set, Brutaka and Axonn were some of the few bionicle sets that survived my great 2012-2013 bionicle purge. The thought of selling them didn't even once cross my mind. They really are something else. Each is near-perfection. And you could build Botar OR Kardas with them! Compared to Kardas this set is just a tiny thing. Kardas is so large it's a lego Kaiju!!!
The thing that excited me the most about this set was that sweet mask of life. Outside of the Vahi, I don't think we'd ever seen a more powerful mask in the storyline, and more than anything, I really wanted the cool mask so I could equip it on one of my Toa.
I've had Vezon and Fenrakk sitting on my desk for about 6 months now. This is one of my favorite sets from my favorite lines. To me, something about this set embodies both the creativity that has been present in Bionicle lore since 2001 and what sort of absolute insanity I can get from a Bionicle set. Furthermore, I always love the tasteful use of older parts in newer models because it lends itself to adding continuity to the universe. For me, this set delivers in spades! Even now, as an adult working from home on a corporate graphics driver, Vezon & Fenrakk was the set I chose to place on my home desk to keep me entertained in lengthy meetings or bad days. Friends who see my desk never fail to comment on this set, lending me an opening to rant about Mata Nui, the Toa, and the Turaga. Thank you for yet another wonderful video!
I swear, even when I spent years forgetting or not caring about Bionicles (my love for it has been revived) Axonn, Brutaka and Vezon & Fenrakk were honestly some I always still adored, by far some of the coolest sets Bionicle had ever released
I remember finding this set in a comic book store with my dad and I got interested since it was a Bionicle and in sealed condition. But now that I’m older and very familiar with the Bionicle Lore that moment is my greatest regret

Had this set back as a kid and never really enjoyed playing with Fenrakk. Most of the time I would set him aside and just play with Vezon. I get why I did that now after you pointed out the articulation issue, it was very difficult to pose him the way I wanted. I have this set in pieces in a box somewhere. Gonna dig him up and rebuild Fenrakk. Another great video, love the content.
I remember when I got one of these as Christmas gift. I was dreaming about it, watched all the commercials. For me, the best villan of Bionicle series, and still with me since then. Adding, this 2006s collection (base of Bionicle heroes game) is the best Bionicle season franchises

At some point I acquired Vezon, so I've never had Fenrakk, but wow, Vezon is one of my favorite Bionicles of all time. I love his importance in the story, the Piraka/Inika are my favorite Bionicle wave, and Vezon is so simple yet so well designed & just carries incredibly cool and dramatic imagery. Love that guy.
Great video, great set too, but honestly if you have a spare axonn and brutaka then i would 100% recommend building the kardas dragon. It makes the 2008 Takanuva look like a snack for the behemoth. Prob one of the best if not the best sets released. I guess we will get a video on kardas in two weeks, im excited...
Found this set minus the cape and box at a thrift store for $2, kept waiting for a key piece to be missing but only the cape. Absolutely love this set despite not getting it as a kid.
The weapon pieces? Yeah, I believe that's a common issue. Not sure if it's a matter of the axles being a little too small or the axle holes being a little too big, but it's annoying. Had that issue with mine too, although I got the set used

If you have Axonn and Brutaka, you could build it by looking up instructions online. But the reason why Vezon and Kardas is so spendy is because I'm pretty sure you're getting 3 sets in total if you by it
I was actually not interested in this set back in 2006, I thought it was just another piraka with another rahi, but man, I was really wrong. I picked this set up later after playing Bionicle Heroes and seeing them. Their storyline in the books was also really awesome, specifically Vezon, and how later he was in the Federation of Fear. Overall, the sets from 2006 were really great, especially with the titans, and this just nails it down even more. Vezon is awesome, both as a set and a character. The mask is amazing, and the silver with the black, and that cape, just adds to it! And Fenrakk, he's massive, looks great, and just amazing in my opinion. Another great review, especially after a long day of work. I'll be excited to see what comes next, and I think I might have a hint on the set coming next..

Man why did it take until the Star Wars CCBS sets to make capes outside of minifigs to be a regular thing. I don't think there's ever been a set that's been worse off having one. As a result, capes like Vezon's and Furno XL from Hero Factory are some of the most expensive single parts from their respective lines.
I’d never seen this duo as the set by itself, and the bionicle heroes video game made fenrakk look enormous, so it’s interesting to see how comparable in size vezon is to fenrakk
Not getting an play function is honestly not an con. When i was young and playing i always hated how my metru Onewa would just flop around with those arms, i just wanted to play as i chose and not flop his arms around. Smashing 2 figures together was not my way of playing so now as i'm older i love all of the sets, but still hate the gear functions. Especially in Rakshi and metru nui toa, and hordika was kind of meh too cause of that. They're hidden anyway so it's not like it's part of the look like in the toa mata, cause there i like how they look and the play function isn't that bad since the articulation on those models was minimal anyway
I remember receiving this for Christmas in 2006, and it was the last Bionicle set from that year I obtained within the year it was released. I also had a friend who found this a month later in January of '07 in a Wal-Mart, as leftover stock. Admittedly design-wise, I often wondered why Fenrakk's back legs were much smaller and skinnier than the front legs. It's strange that they use the blade from the "Staff of Light" from Takanuva, as opposed to the "Staffs of Loyalty" from Bordahk on the front. This is also the final Bionicle set to have the color of "reddish brown", as the Inika knee armor in that color appears here in that color. Apart from Irnakk, and the Kardas combiner "set" from that year, the Piraka legs will only appear one more time each in black and Metru blue (earth blue) after this, and will also appear later in dark stone and silver. The clawed Piraka feet in black with stone grey toes only appear in two other standard sets after this, and the Piraka torso in black is exclusive to this and it's combiner "set". The same goes for the Visorak double socket in gunmetal gray, and the rounded version of the Inika chest armor in Metru red. The 7M "Wings" that have been around since the 1999 "Slizers" sets only appear one other time in Metru red (New Dark Red) after this and Kardas, while the Technic 3M "lever" in that color has its final appearance there. Outside of Bionicle, Fenrakk's skull in silver also appears in the final set of the "Vikings" theme (7021) from the same year. This and its combiner are the last appearance of the Hordika foot and the cape only appears in one other set after this in '07, as does Vezon's mask, albeit in a different color, and in a more comical manner.
Fenrakk has a great design, I may not like piece at the end but helps to support Vezon. And one more thing I also like Vezon’s mask that has two faces, one that has the Piraka face and the other with the mask of life.
are you doing the kardas (fenrakk+axon+brutaka) build? it came as a vezon and kardas set but being a combination/ having the pieces for the three titans you could build it if you had them already or you could build the three of them from it, it's huge and incredible
Someone is selling vezon - Kardas around 10 dollars. I will see if I can get it. All my life wanted all the piraka collection. Vezon has a great design from my point of view indeed. Great!
So far this is my most intact bionicle set and I'm happy it is so. My only issue are those darn takanuva staffs for hind legs. They keep faling off because there's so little friction on the axle connection. Takanuva's ussanui had the same issue, even brand new.
Just wondering, where do you find the price for new and used condition of certain sets because whenever I look to buy sets I usually look on eBay and have never seen Vezon and fenrakk for $150 brand new
Bricklink most of the time, I think. Also, pretty sure he's talking US dollars, so if you're in another country that uses dollars (like Canada or Australia), the price is gonna be different
My butt hurts a little, because it's one of the most popular titan sets I don't own, because as a kid I thought that Fenrakk looked stupid and Vezon looked plain and I would like to have this now, but I don't think it looks as good for this price.
its funny to hear somebody say this could be the centerpiece of somebodies display/collection; for me, I owned this set back in 2006, and it carries no nostalgia for me. When I got back into Bionicle heavy 2 years ago, I found this set among my other Titans I had stored away, and I barely remembered building or owning it. Instantly took the spider apart to use parts for MOCs and I think I have Vezon stored still built somewhere in a tub in storage. I have over 100 Bonks on shelves and this never even made my consideration for display because I find it so unattractive and unappealing; funny how varied different people's tastes can be within the same fandom!
Vezon & Fenrakk...what can i say that hasn't been already....nothing 'cept only personal opinion(score should be 9.0 if you consider axe & brute). but at least i can tell any & all that if you bought 1 of the 3 main titan sets, that you by now after watching these last vids are obliged to get ALL 3 of them(nix umbra the "1 store exclusive"). as for my reasons for getting them(8764)...in one word "Fenrakk". i may have a fear of the 8 legged inspirations for the visorak but with this boy, the head & size kill that notion. then the build, if you only look at the torso stood upright like a human....he is BIG, and you can tell as they made a custom mask for him that helps sell that he's no ordinary Rahhi(beast...never been good at spelling that term)
And to think..... this is only Phase ONE of the year's final boss.
Got phase 2 on parts from bricklink for arounnd 50 Euro.
Totally worth it.
Makes me wish they stuck a bit to the lore in BIONICLE Heroes and gave us a Vezon and Kardas boss fight.

2006 was the best year for BIONICLE when it came to the Sets especially with the Kardas Dragon Set
He is a perfect combo of Deadpool and Joker. And those BSO1 guys say that they don't like him.

You can get the cape for like ten pound ebay, or you can buy a replacement but it's TOTALLY worth it, the cape enhances his look so much
Anyone else have trouble with Fenrakk's rear legs falling out? I remember having to build external attachments to hold those blade pieces in place

@@kokorodaki4017 It's the axles that are too small. The legs for the ussanui had the same issue.
I use small black rubber bands to hold them on. They're nearly invisible and work very well.
I had a similar problem when I was building a Tahtorak, the Staff of Light pieces keep slipping out of axle holes.

Man why did it take until the Star Wars CCBS sets to make capes outside of minifigs to be a regular thing. I don't think there's ever been a set that's been worse off having one. As a result, capes like Vezon's and Furno XL from Hero Factory are some of the most expensive single parts from their respective lines.

I’d never seen this duo as the set by itself, and the bionicle heroes video game made fenrakk look enormous, so it’s interesting to see how comparable in size vezon is to fenrakk

Not getting an play function is honestly not an con. When i was young and playing i always hated how my metru Onewa would just flop around with those arms, i just wanted to play as i chose and not flop his arms around. Smashing 2 figures together was not my way of playing so now as i'm older i love all of the sets, but still hate the gear functions. Especially in Rakshi and metru nui toa, and hordika was kind of meh too cause of that. They're hidden anyway so it's not like it's part of the look like in the toa mata, cause there i like how they look and the play function isn't that bad since the articulation on those models was minimal anyway
I remember receiving this for Christmas in 2006, and it was the last Bionicle set from that year I obtained within the year it was released. I also had a friend who found this a month later in January of '07 in a Wal-Mart, as leftover stock. Admittedly design-wise, I often wondered why Fenrakk's back legs were much smaller and skinnier than the front legs. It's strange that they use the blade from the "Staff of Light" from Takanuva, as opposed to the "Staffs of Loyalty" from Bordahk on the front. This is also the final Bionicle set to have the color of "reddish brown", as the Inika knee armor in that color appears here in that color. Apart from Irnakk, and the Kardas combiner "set" from that year, the Piraka legs will only appear one more time each in black and Metru blue (earth blue) after this, and will also appear later in dark stone and silver. The clawed Piraka feet in black with stone grey toes only appear in two other standard sets after this, and the Piraka torso in black is exclusive to this and it's combiner "set". The same goes for the Visorak double socket in gunmetal gray, and the rounded version of the Inika chest armor in Metru red. The 7M "Wings" that have been around since the 1999 "Slizers" sets only appear one other time in Metru red (New Dark Red) after this and Kardas, while the Technic 3M "lever" in that color has its final appearance there. Outside of Bionicle, Fenrakk's skull in silver also appears in the final set of the "Vikings" theme (7021) from the same year. This and its combiner are the last appearance of the Hordika foot and the cape only appears in one other set after this in '07, as does Vezon's mask, albeit in a different color, and in a more comical manner.
Fenrakk has a great design, I may not like piece at the end but helps to support Vezon. And one more thing I also like Vezon’s mask that has two faces, one that has the Piraka face and the other with the mask of life.

are you doing the kardas (fenrakk+axon+brutaka) build? it came as a vezon and kardas set but being a combination/ having the pieces for the three titans you could build it if you had them already or you could build the three of them from it, it's huge and incredible

So far this is my most intact bionicle set and I'm happy it is so. My only issue are those darn takanuva staffs for hind legs. They keep faling off because there's so little friction on the axle connection. Takanuva's ussanui had the same issue, even brand new.

Bricklink most of the time, I think. Also, pretty sure he's talking US dollars, so if you're in another country that uses dollars (like Canada or Australia), the price is gonna be different

My butt hurts a little, because it's one of the most popular titan sets I don't own, because as a kid I thought that Fenrakk looked stupid and Vezon looked plain and I would like to have this now, but I don't think it looks as good for this price.

its funny to hear somebody say this could be the centerpiece of somebodies display/collection; for me, I owned this set back in 2006, and it carries no nostalgia for me. When I got back into Bionicle heavy 2 years ago, I found this set among my other Titans I had stored away, and I barely remembered building or owning it. Instantly took the spider apart to use parts for MOCs and I think I have Vezon stored still built somewhere in a tub in storage. I have over 100 Bonks on shelves and this never even made my consideration for display because I find it so unattractive and unappealing; funny how varied different people's tastes can be within the same fandom!

Vezon & Fenrakk...what can i say that hasn't been already....nothing 'cept only personal opinion(score should be 9.0 if you consider axe & brute). but at least i can tell any & all that if you bought 1 of the 3 main titan sets, that you by now after watching these last vids are obliged to get ALL 3 of them(nix umbra the "1 store exclusive").
as for my reasons for getting them(8764)...in one word "Fenrakk". i may have a fear of the 8 legged inspirations for the visorak but with this boy, the head & size kill that notion.
then the build, if you only look at the torso stood upright like a human....he is BIG, and you can tell as they made a custom mask for him that helps sell that he's no ordinary Rahhi(beast...never been good at spelling that term)
