I've always wanted to watch this film. I saw this video and after watching I immediately purchased the Blu-ray. It's such a meaningful and beautifully put together film. With everything going on in the World the message behind it has never been so important: Even in dire times, and ever changing circumstances that break our norm, we should stay strong, adapt and make the best out of a bad situation focusing on what's important: our immediate family and closest friends. Keep up the great work Nick, I can't wait for the next one!
@@cameronfrye8311 I think @Pogo has fostered a genuinely nice and wholesome community where the comments are actually worth reading, so I'm not surprised he keeps checking in on us 😄. The film made me tear-up in some parts so I thought it was worth sharing. I love Tevye's character development and how he deals with changes to his life and the challenges presented to his values and beliefs. If he wavered, the fiddler appeared to remind him to keep moving forward and prosper, literally in some scenes 😁 I'm just happy Fiddler found its way into my Blu-Ray collection, thanks to Nick for the final push ✌.
I did the same thing! This was actually the third movie that I've watched or rewatched after listening to Pogo's music (Pulp Fiction and Hook being the other two). I almost cried multiple times while watching it because of how poignant it is.
One of the greatest lessons in the movie for me is he prays to be a rich man, but in the end realized he had everything he needed. He was rich in family and community.
Haven't seen the film but that's a beautiful and true message - that the grass always seem greener on the other side and we always want more (to get richer e.g.), but that often we don't realize just how lucky we are. Imagine having people in ones life that love you and whom you can love back. The highest love though (which is a free gift to all who believe) is found by the cross in the person of Jesus who loved us so much he died for us. Man, I must've listened to this song about 20-30 times tonight - it's so good!!
"My father and my mother said we would learn to love each other"... man that hit me hard. Feeling utterly depressed at the state of the world at the moment.
I’m sorry to hear that. Know that Jesus made a way out of this broken world, and that is through faith and trust in Him. Jesus has helped me so much throughout my own struggles and afflictions. Know that He loves you very much ^^ Hope you’ll be feeling better
In the original story it ends up being that while the father (the one who said that) has to go through a marriage he wasn’t really in for love, he lets his children marry for love, so I hope the lights the line a bit.
I feel you. There's rioting all around me, the military is supposed to get involved which never ends well, all on top of a global pandemic, on top of one of the most chaotic presidencies my country has ever seen. Half the people I love are dying and the other half are making it worse. It feels like the end of the fucking world.

I recently watched Fiddler again. Tevye is such a wonderfully written character and reminds me so much of my father whom I lost 2 years ago. He was such a proud man, so protective and masculine in spirit but melted whenever affairs of his daughters were concerned. All he ever wanted between us was for me to be happy and healthy, otherwise he was so supportive of everything I did. I miss him often and still have his number saved in my phone as "Dad" though it's been long disconnected. This video makes me wish I could call it and hear that familiar "Hey honey!" again. Thanks, Pogo.
I also lost my dad two years ago and he loved Fiddler on the Roof - my heart goes out to you. It's a comfort to know that even when they're gone, they're still with us, whether it's as a spirit in our dreams or a contact number on our phones.
My father was trained by Herschel Bernardi and played the role of Tevye well over 100 times on various stages over the past 50 years. Some big (Majestic Theater Dallas), some not so big(Local community theater/church productions). At one of his final productions, I was the lead bottle dancer; his real son dancing at his play son's wedding. He enjoyed this video very much!

Oh my god, I have been listening to this song for 3 months now. It has got to be Pogo's masterpiece! It brings out so many powerful emotions in me and I don't even know why. The video clip is amazing too and he did a great job in editing a summarized version of the film while putting so much power into sound and visual. Nobody will read this, but MY GOD, there was so many songs I wanted to hug Pogo for, now I am ready to cry in his arms for this one. The day the song came out, I was so obsessed with it I decided to watch Fiddler on the Roof that very night for the very first time. After the movie, I listened to the song again and burst out crying, overwhelmed by emotions and memories of days past. I can't get enough of it. Again, I have been listening to it for 3 months and it still hits hard! Pogo has sold his soul to the devil to make this song, and God has reclaimed it when he saw the finished music video.
I was very moved by what you wrote because I had the exact same experience. I can't stop listening to this song and because of it, I watched Fiddler on the Roof for the first time as well. It's crazy how this song has impacted so many people and I'm so glad you shared your experience with us.

I had a VHS tape of The Fiddler on the Roof, this exact film, that I recorded of of Fox 32 in Chicago in the mid-eighties.... I sent my mom the link to this... I don't understand what's happening today.
Just discovered this one and can't stop playing it. Didn't initially twig that it was Fiddler on the Roof and realised just how good the cinematography was for such an old film. Ended up buying a DVD of it.
He had everything he required for a fulfilling and purposeful life. His family, his god and his traditions. The czar took all his physical possessions but couldn't take what meant most to him in all the world.
Nick is a literal musical genius. And like most of the other geniuses before him, he's barely being recognized in his time simply because his work isn't predictable. Because it's not formulaic. Meanwhile, he has created his own formula that nobody else has even come close to. Thanks so much Nick for making these, some of us see your work for what it really is, entirely unique and absolute joy.
I think what I love most about this remix is that despite it bearing no resemblance to the genre of the orginal musical's score, it perfectly encapsulates the emotion of the film. Beautiful tribute, makes me want to watch it again.
@@TomAytoJr yeah not only was the song top notch, the video I think is my favorite video yet. I've never seen Fiddler on the Roof, but it looks like an amazing movie that I must see now.
I never, ever, EVER expected to hear Fiddler on the Roof in this style, but I love it. Been following you for years, and you just get better and better with each piece.
I listened to this song a lot during my Senior year of high school. When I play it all the memories come back. Will always have a special place deep down.
This is so poignant right now. For those who don't know what the theme of the movie is: Tevye is a man who lives a simple life of purpose. As the film progresses, his world begins to crumble around him, yet throughout, he never wavers, he never gives up, because he has his god, his family, and his traditions that see him through even when he loses everything he built. As our world crumbles around us, remember Tevye. Be like Tevye. Seek purpose in a purposeless world.
Don't set out to just make a good movie. Set out to make a movie that Pogo would make a mix to. That's when you know you've made it. When you have LEGO sets and a Pogo mix.
I am here again, I was a little bit lost and melancholic, then I looked outside my window and saw beautiful blue sky and white clouds, then this music started to play in my head. I felt much better and wandered around outside.
I love it when Pogo introduces me to old musicals I've never heard of before with his art, it gets me so excited to discover a new classic film. Can't wait to watch this one when the time hopefully presents itself to me.
Could not agree more. He's always throwing old films at us left and right that I've never seen, and it makes it all the more enjoyable to watch them after having heard his remix of them and then listen in for the samples.
The most unique thing is how well he can capture about 2 hours or more of the movies in less than 5 min ^^... And sadly i can say that, i get more of feels from pogos work then the movies... But thats just me xD both are amazing truly!!
Hopefully the SJW cancel crowds won't ban it like other classics such as Gone With the Wind. I can not imagination the rational SJW's are too happy being a part of this, if not in denial.
RIP to Norman Jewison, the director who directed this film along with other classics like The Thomas Crown Affair, A Soldier Story, and of course In the Heat of the Night. You'll still be remembered for a long while.
Hypnotic, Uplifting, Inspirational, Powerful, To say such high quality is expected of you sir is an understatement, as this, as with many of your new releases, continues to push the boundaries of your melodic mastery. Never Cease to Amaze.
I played this at my grandmother's house Christmas day and all 30+ family members danced their ass off. They thought it was Drake. They were Googling Drake so I told them it was all Pogo. This Christmas was the Bomb. Thanks POGO.
Literally watched 2/3's of this movie and we had to take a break. But I wanted to say how heartbreaking this movie is. It's the struggle of a father and how he steadily breaks away from tradition for his 5 daughters happiness. Even if it means going against his religion, his god, his traditions, and seeing his daughters go with other men, having them grow up before his eyes and having them fly the nest. I'm at the part where the villagers are pushed off their lands by the tsar for being Jewish and its painful. But at the same time, they are like, what have we here on this earth forsaken land, where we call home? Our ancestors have always been pushed off at a moments notice, and its so sad to see this happening in real life too. Evictions and foreclosures and wars pushing people off their land and homes. It's so refreshing seeing a believer constantly monologue, dialogue with God, who remains ever silent, but listening. This song really gives this sad and yet quirky movie a new happy twist, that I much needed when relistening to this song. I don't know if there is a happy ending for Teyrve. But i can only say that each actor was wonderful and their expressions and the use of silence and body movements is a wonderful change from the current movies nowadays. Recommend the movie! And this song just captures all their hope
>father breaks away from tradition for the happiness of his daughters Contrast that with Chapter 7 of 2Maccabees! Where the Mother stays strong to tradition by imploring their sons to stay true to it as well, and they both die a torturous death for true happiness in heaven! That is REAL JUDAISM. Or, shall I say 😏, REAL CHRISTIANITY
The final decision Teyve makes, the 3rd scene in which he debates within himself over a marriage, he chooses his faith over his daughter. I may be wrong, but I believe it's the one time the film specifically explains a decision as being based on faith: not simply "tradition". It's the one aspect of his being that cannot be changed. Hard to say if it's a result of his literal faith in God or the fear of ostracization by the Jewish community. It's a tragic end either way.
Pogo, I don't know if you still check comments on your videos but i hope this finds you. I want to thank you for the music you've made, whenever i'm down and i feel like i can't handle life anymore I always turn to your music. The way Pogo edits every video I always want to live in the videos. It also elicits a nostalgic feeling for a place and setting I've never been, but want to go back to.
This was so well done- captured the essence of the film and many of the delicious details - the beat and melodies leave the score behind, but that frees it to soar.
Growing up in a Jewish home this was the movie that defined my childhood and you’ve created this beautiful love letter to it. Thank you so much. Recent events have worn my spirit down and this is a true mitzvah that has brought tears of joy, reminding me of simpler times. G-d bless you Christopher. I feel like a rich man.

Nick, this is incredible. It's amazing that you were able to capture the most poignant and joyful emotions of the film, to make an incredibly new, but comfortingly familiar, piece of art. I feel lucky to be alive at the same time this is being created.
Finding this song recently and hearing the news of Topol's passing got me to rewatch this film. I think it really is deserving of being called a perfect film.
After 4 years, this is still Pogo’s magnum opus! Absolutely deserving of having nearly 2 million views as of writing this! Even when pogo returns with new music one day (please come back we miss you), this song will be extremely difficult to top
Wow I LOVE this one! Great job Nick. It's upbeat, so I can "headbob" to this, but it's also really calming, which is something I love about your style.
My father-in-law Neville Hillier also played the roll of Tevye in several local productions here in Queensland Australia over the years. He is no longer with us but his voice was recorded and his legacy lives on in the lives of his wife, children and grandchildren just like in this beloved play. Pogo's remix is both clever and respectful of the source material and I'm very impressed by it! The music video editing enhanced the music really well too! Well done!
Thank you pogo! I have been so stressed about finishing school and getting my grades to a good amount and trying to get into a program at my school very stressful. Opening his FL studio's WAV samples he must have so many beautiful short heavenly clips to choose from now. He really shows us how programmes like FL and Ableton can be used like an instrument to constantly be used to bring your own style to, mastered and constantly learn with. Of all of your videos I’ve seen, this is the one I _always_ come back to. There’s just something about it; I don’t know if it’s the bittersweetness of the melody, or how refined your craft was by the time you made this video, with over a decade of practice, or how sentimental of a film this is. Maybe it’s a bit of all 3, but no matter what the factors are, every time I come back to watch it, I get completely sucked in and the 5 minutes go by like just a couple. You really outdid yourself with this edit, man. I wish Topol or more of the film’s crew was still alive to appreciate this piece of art you’ve woven together out of the art that they filmed first. It’s beautiful. I hope you’re doing okay. Come back when you’re ready 💚

Funny thing, he has a video up explaining exactly how he does it but the genius is he makes it look simple.
Even among the remastering amd sampling community no one has come close to what he's done.
I think what I love most about this remix is that despite it bearing no resemblance to the genre of the orginal musical's score, it perfectly encapsulates the emotion of the film. Beautiful tribute, makes me want to watch it again.
this sounds like gold just drooling out of mouths uncontrollably. luv it

I believe he could make compelling sounds out of anything.
He's used samples from it already. Cupboard Shaker has at least one

I listened to this song a lot during my Senior year of high school. When I play it all the memories come back. Will always have a special place deep down.

"If I we're a wealthy man"

This is so poignant right now. For those who don't know what the theme of the movie is:
Tevye is a man who lives a simple life of purpose.
Porpoise.
What a beautiful message

I love it when Pogo introduces me to old musicals I've never heard of before with his art, it gets me so excited to discover a new classic film. Can't wait to watch this one when the time hopefully presents itself to me.
Could not agree more. He's always throwing old films at us left and right that I've never seen, and it makes it all the more enjoyable to watch them after having heard his remix of them and then listen in for the samples.
Half of the movies I've watched have been introduced to me through Pogo's music
The most unique thing is how well he can capture about 2 hours or more of the movies in less than 5 min ^^... And sadly i can say that, i get more of feels from pogos work then the movies... But thats just me xD both are amazing truly!!
Hopefully the SJW cancel crowds won't ban it like other classics such as Gone With the Wind. I can not imagination the rational SJW's are too happy being a part of this, if not in denial.

RIP, Rest in (Occupied) Palestine?
And this song just captures all their hope
>father breaks away from tradition for the happiness of his daughters
Contrast that with Chapter 7 of 2Maccabees! Where the Mother stays strong to tradition by imploring their sons to stay true to it as well, and they both die a torturous death for true happiness in heaven! That is REAL JUDAISM. Or, shall I say 😏, REAL CHRISTIANITY
So, Fiddler is based on a set of books, but the main one that the musical is called Tevrye's Daughters. Very much worth the read!
@@ArcticSilverFox1 Fiddler on the Roof ^^
Seeing the impact of communism hits as it encroaches today.
This track makes me feel extremely melancholic and cheerful at the same time, I don't know how Nick does this! 😭🥰
And each time you listen you feel or get something new from it like many of the songs from his catalogue. Just amazing
