About learning dictionary and masu forms. I feel it's better to learn the dictionary form first and then go to masu (and other forms). My Japanese class used a textbook that also started with the masu-form. Learning the dictionary form later confused me, and lead to a long struggle with dictionary form and later conjugating to other forms.
I understand masu-form is a fun way to start, because you can just start talking. But with dictionary form it's basically studying lots of grammar and not getting to actually speak. That can be demotivating for lots of people. But on the flip side, it's awful for us who need structure and logic, and who fall apart when things aren't the way we were told 🙈
If I could go back, I would get Genki and self-study with it alongside my Japanese class. I believe that if you learn the dictionary form and verb groups in the beginning, you're making things sooooo much easier for future you.

I'm not advanced enough to know much about kanji yet, but I could not help noticing that on the slide for close the sentence kanji does not match (it look like the one on the slide for open) ???
I should add though that your presentations are superbe 👍 Thank your for all the work you do preparing them, it is s great help and much appreciated.
