- The National West Indian Day Parade and Carnival celebrates the heritage of the Caribbean. The celebration of the West Indies is a major cultural NYC event. The West Indian Day Parade and Carnival began in Harlem back in the 1920s. Around 3 million people celebrate Labor Day West Indian Carnival Parade in Brooklyn, NY each year, making the West Indian Day Parade one of the biggest festivals in the world.
The National West Indian Day Parade and Carnival features singers, dancers, and musicians wearing extravagant costumes and feathered headpieces. As you're enjoying the
Labor Day West Indian Carnival Parade in Brooklyn, NY, expect tons of amazing floats to make their way down the street. Powdered paint can get thrown around, while steel drums and whistles keep the party going all day long. Food vendors also line the streets selling Caribbean food and drinks along the way of the West Indian Day Parade and Carnival.
The West Indian Day Parade takes place each year on Labor Day. This year it's happening on Monday, September 2 at 10 AM. In Brooklyn, NY, the West Indies Carnival Parade marches down Eastern Parkway, usually beginning at Schenectady Avenue and ending at Grand Army Plaza in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NY.

The parade route is very scanty. It's nothing like used to be 27 years ago. It was jam pack that you can't where to put your foot to move anywhere. If you have a nice spot you can't move because you loose it once you move from there. It used be packed like New Year's Eve in times Square.

Nothing is the same as it used to be anymore. And in my opinion the city is going to banned the West Indian Day Parade, because of the crime every year. This is the only parade that have shooting every time. It's so sad people can't be good. And the good have to suffer for bad.

Where is the suspect and witnesses. There is cameras on every corner. Policemen were present. How did a person shut and unalive several people and not get caught. It takes some special training for that. Furthermore, why wasn't the usual protocol taken. That is, shut the parade down and secure the perimeters? Why waste of money & resources if you already know what's up? Wake up!!!
@andremurray47 Considering The Ministry of National Security had serious concerns of the safety due previous violins towards tourist at Trinidad & Tobago carnivals, security was tight. Even swat teams secured the carnivals. Also, one must take into account, these countries do not have any gum rights. Of course there is less shew_tings but there is just as many sabbings as there is shew_ting in blk communities in America. Research the violins in these countries before you point at Americans.
