They're so CALM. Americans are hysterical compared to rational, adult, tranquil Canadians.
Love 'em. (Tommy has a tiny bit of American in him, NYC + Cambridge Mass American). And, Sarah? Like a beautiful, cuddly bird. (? Huh?) Soars w joy, feels good to be around. Alex, like a savant-brilliant... Guinea pig? Adorable and scary smart.
And, the builder men? Just hunks of gorgeous + skill. ♥
The total hunks who are angelically, magestically employed in this cottage series are really quite lovely.

considering the countertop, I wouldve embedded a cute piece of oblong tile by the stove to act as a safety trivet to avoid burnt counters / hot pans

Pretty, I like what she did with the cabinets. I put in one of those big stainless steel sinks last year when we did some kitchen remodeling. Love it. Not the divided kind though...see no reason for that & the divider thing seems like it would just be in the way.
Especially if renters will be washing large BBQ supplies.
The color of the floor... that green is.... brrrrr (for me «ugly») another color would be better ;)

Sarah, I [almost always] love everything you do,,,but I don’t know what you were thinking when you chose that shade of green for the living room floor. That said, I love the kitchen and will never mention that floor color again. I promise.

Totally agree, the floor is migraine inducing and takes ALL the attention, which is a shame when everything else is so lovely. It also clashes terribly with the pretty blue in the kitchen.

We lived off-grid for 10 years, the key is maintenance of the solar system! Monitor it and take care of it.

How do they get drinkable, clear water supply in the cottage? From some spring on the island? Or pumps from the lake, then how are they sure it's clean enough to drink it, or use it for cooking, bathing etc?

I think the pitch of the roof has to be at a certain angle and the house is in a lot of shade, so it would be easier to put the panels somewhere else.
Alex explained this at 9:43.The panels need to face the most sun (south) to be effective. The angle of the cabin roof & nearby trees provide too much shade. You don't invest in solar panels & not maximize their capacity & efficiency. Cloudy days cause enough problems.
Roof tops are used because people lack unused available land, especially in the suburbs.
