    Hi Bo. Great tips which are not mentioned in other videos. I would also add that you should pack another bag (small backpack or messenger bag) for carrying some stuffs on the trip and to bring some things that you purchase. Also, knowing in advance the public transportation systems helps a lot.
    One thing that many people don't consider is having a small first aid kit, which I always carry with me.

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks, Sebastian. Yes, a small extra bag or backpack helps a lot. Especially if you travel with just one bag. Did you see this video? ruclips.net/video/mRSo6ICMlMg/видео.html

    One thing you touched on and I would like to reiterate is the earplugs and I would even add a sleepmask to that list. I have stayed in super nice hotels in Downtown Portland, Seattle and Vancouver and the streets are so loud, it nearly ruined the stay. Most hotel rooms have blackout blinds, but when I stay with friends or family, I need the sleepmask to maximize sleep quality. Lastly, still in the sleep category, is alternative sound. I sleep with a fan going all night at home. On the road however, many hotel rooms lack a steady fan at low speed on the HVAC system. In this case, use a white noise app or RUclips video to mimic the fan noise. In hotel rooms with multiple people sleeping, white noise does wonders for everyone.
    Oh and completely unrelated pro tip, if you use a laptop on vacation on business travel, buy an Ethernet cable and if your laptop doesn't have a port for it, get a USB to Ethernet adapter. Hotel WiFi often sucks, but internet speeds are way faster at hotels when plugged in and obviously safer.

    Good video with good travel trips!
    For me travel would means long flight to foreign countries. This is how I would pack additional to your given tips:
    1. Simple medical kit (paracetamol, anti-diarrhoea, anti-histamine, anti-vomit) inside my backpack.
    2. Victorinox multitool - check in.
    3. Keep a separate photocopy of visa and passport front page inside my bag. Jot down the embassy address and contact as well.
    3. Always keep my passport with me on my body at all time. Never leaving it behind hotel. I know I can immediately head to airport leaving the country if things turn ugly.
    4. Keep at least one set of clothing to change into cabin, especially check in luggage will transit at different airport/airplane. It happened to me no luggage upon arrival for almost 2 days. So in fact I try not to check in luggage if possible.
    Keep up the good videos.

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад +1

      That's awesome. I do all of those. Wasn't sure if I wanted to include those in the video as that would have made it a Top 10 video haha.
      Addition to 3) I always keep a digital photocopy on a USB or something like evernote as well
      Addition to 3) In germany we have a Passport and an ID Card. I usually travel with both so I can leave at least one as a backup in the hotel.
      Addition to 4) I guess everyone who has lost luggage at least once, has started to have at least one set of clothing in his carry on ;-) Good tip
      Thanks for this. And thanks for watching the video! Cheers,mate

    Nice one Bo, many thanks. In terms of the 'muggers money' trick, I sometimes take an old wallet with a couple of very low denomination notes in it eg a couple of $1 notes or a €5, plus a couple of out of date credit cards and some foreign currency I'll never use (eg old Chinese yen) and then the robber will instantly think he has a good haul, only to find later that he has nothing of any use. Glad you clarified the sleeping with an open window remark as I was starting to wonder whether you meant on the aircraft!

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад

      Thanks, Danny. That is an awesome idea. Considering I have so many old wallets that is an easy thing to do. Just out of curiosity: An old credit card is not usable, but wouldn't they still be able to do some damage just with the credit card number alone?

    • @dannywestwood4113
      @dannywestwood4113 6 лет назад

      Bo Ismono Hmmm, not sure about that Bo. I have about half a dozen of old ones that are no longer valid, ie banks that I no longer have a credit agreement with, so I'm hoping no damage could be done. Fortunately I've never been in the position of being mugged...but it could happen to most people. Expired store loyalty cards would probably suffice too. It would just leave the robber with the immediate impression they had managed to get their hands on something of value.

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад

      +Danny Westwood true. Filling an old wallet with just a bunch of old cards and some cash should give the mugger the impression of gaining a lot. Hopefully we shall never get in such a situation

    If I may add to your packing tip, is the ranger roll you do. I saw you show that on an older video and it revolutionized my packing. I'm not yet into packing cubes, for clothes, but I'm getting there. I love pouches/bags for tech gear.

      Thank you very much, Marty. What Kidbach is saying is a good idea as well. But if you factor in costs, then it is easier to just buy bottled water in the country you are going to. Especially in asia bottled water will be cheaper than buying iodine tablets in your country.

    One thing I've recently started traveling with, are ear plugs called "EarPlanes". They have a little bearing inside each plug which helps equalize thre pressure inside and outside the ear, so you don't get the painful, stuffy ear feeling when flying at higher altitudes. I combine these with my QC-25s for a nice, smooth, noise-free environment.
    Speaking of QC-25s, I also found an adapter called "AirMod" (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MTQGY69) which clips into the headphone jack on the left ear cup of the QC-25s and turns them into Bluetooth headphones.
    I keep that attached to my QC-25's in the case, as well as a fabric, braided cable from Ablet (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XTDXPKZ) that is much stronger than the stock cable.
    It all fits nicely into the case + the AirMod and AirMod charging cable. Makes the kit MUCH more useful and adds more features.

    • @Youknowthebo

      I just recently bought a similar Airmod thingy for my QC25s. Great upgrade!

    Good tips, Bo! I like to use a collapsible water bottle such as a Platypus or Vapur. Takes up no room in your luggage when not full!

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад

      +OneHarp thanks, mate. I have a Vapur. But my version kinda tastes like plastic. And the water adapts this taste after awhile. Does yours have the same issue?

    • @OneHarp
      @OneHarp 6 лет назад

      Bo Ismono Yeah, the Vapur has that problem. Not so with the paltypus, however! The new Platypus "softbottle" also has a built in clip and wider locking mouth, which is really handy. Used it on my last trip to Italy and highly recommend it.

  • @venom5809

    I love my packing cubes, never travel without them. My eBags backpack is great because I can lock all the zippers, learned that one the hard way, sort of, was on a bus overseas before I got it with a regular backpack and even though I had the backpack between my legs paying attention to it, someone on the bus opened a small side pocket and stole a battery pack from it so that's mandatory for me that all zippers on any bag I buy can be locked with a lock.

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад

      That is sad to hear. If you watch my AER Fitpack video you can see a method of "locking" zippers together. So you could basically retro fit all of your nonlockable zippers with a new zipper pull and then just "knot" them together. This wont deter a thief that has time to mess with your bag, but it will stop those opportunistic pickpockets.

    • @venom5809
      @venom5809 6 лет назад

      Yeah, it was messed up, I was literally anticipating something happening and it still happened, that's what you get on a crowded bus and you can only stand. I like to have zippers that can truly lock, even just for leaving a bag in a hotel room it gives me peace of mind, that's why I don't like the Peak Design backpack, it doesn't seem like there is anyway to actually lock that bag which is unacceptable for the kind of money they charge for it.

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад

      That really sucks. At least it was "just" a battery pack. I hope that you don't get in another situation like that in the future. Stay safe, mate!

    Asura here, You should try out those hydroflask (though every double vacuum stainless steel water bottle is the same but they're cheaper because they don't market their logo like hydroflask), it keeps water cold for 24hrs, the ice takes days to melt, they don't leak, they don't sweat. You could probably find some ones on Amazon for $15-25 (idk what that is in euros) I bring mine everywhere with me, travel, school, work. Just everywhere I use it every 20 mins seconds, it's become attached with my appearance at this point.

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад

      Yes, I wanted to get one but I wasn't sure if they are actually worth the money. Do they also keep liquids warm?

    • @User-kn8qd

      Bo Ismono yes for ridiculously long amount of time. I put in coffee once and I drove for 3 hours thinking it'd cool down but it burned my tongue, so now I always put ice cubes in my coffee to cool it download. If you put it in the fridge the temperature is unaffected, the double wall insulation makes it impossible for outside weather or temp to change it in any way. But you don't need a hydroflask, hydroflask (though I bought one before I realized this) is just a logo, the product isn't special, it all comes unbranded from the same warehouse in China and they stick their logos on it and charge $40 extra. I've bought two 40oz (1183 ml) for $11.99 the outside paint is cheaper but the heat and cold insulation is the same as my $47 hydroflask. But 40oz are quite large. You can find them very cheap for unbranded ones in various sizes . I've used mine for 3 years so far. But I'd get a wide mouth one if I were you, you can put coffee lids, straw lids and spout lids on it. They're very very useful in my opinion

    TSA now they want to check each piece electronic gear, lets see two cameras, laptop, lenses, power bank, cables for all those items, but I keep all my cables in one pouch, plus all the concerns of lithium-Ion batteries, I got the feeling I'll be at TSA for awhile.
    Not to mention trying to keep up with all of the changing weight limits, one air line limits you 7kg one up to 10kg , my camera bags weighs one kg all by itself, and one of my cameras weight almost 900 grams without the lens and I'm not checking my camera gear, No wonder I'm starting to like trains and buses.

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 лет назад

      In my experience, the more casual a backpack looks the easier it is to get through TSA with equipment. Which is basically why I stopped using dedicated camera bags. They just draw too much attention to themselves

      In the USA, its a requirement now, anything bigger than a mobile phone goes into a bin, I'm told if I sign up for Precheck I can skip, have not looked into it. I haven't flown since the new rule went into place, I travel by car or motorcycle most of the time.
      My Camera Bag is plain as is it gets.

      I ask myself the same question. It's totally ok to dislike a video, but I would actually like to know why so I might be able to improve something. I did a vote on instagram a couple of weeks back. I found out that there are actually a lot of people who dislike a review because they disliked the product. Unfortunately some people believe that the like and dislike button is based on the product and not on the video itself.
