I first listened to this more than a year ago (first week of July '22). Since then, whenever the original by Head Hunters starts in my playlist, I instinctively switch to this - as it's my preferred version.
These guys are so good. The individual tones and collective tightness take the cake. I don't usually notice a drummer's' "tone" that much, but this drummer, Arno Haselsteiner and his rig are just too good. Also a big shoutout to whoever did the sound tech / production work (Enrico Coromines, as the description suggests).
I hardly ever comment on a RUclips video, but this is just so good, and has so few subs and views, I felt like I must tell these people how much I enjoy their music and how much it means to me, after 1 year of regularly returning to listen to this.

This song means the world to me. Back in 1992 in grade 8 when my music teacher Jim Finkbeiner (saxophonist) introduced me to the Maynard Ferguson version of "Chamaleon" I was hooked on Jazz and on my trumpet. And now watching these great and awesome beast of musicians play this classic song it's quite the treat. Well done guys. Such coolness and accuracy and the tempo so solid...in the pocket. Loved the arrangement.
