Bold claim at 0:34 that Silver is the only 121 turboprop operator in the U.S. Horizon, the regional brand of Alaska, operates Q400's in the Pacific Northwest. Technicalities aside, another great video! Can't wait for the next one.

Nice video! I use to work for 3M, seeing your video made me a little jealous. The fact that the lavatories have a sink now is truly a blessing. The AC I worked in the Saab 340 had no sinks and used saniwipes, the cabin was smaller, very loud, and the lavatory was tiny. I am so happy for 3M for upgrading their fleet and will always have a soft spot in my heart as this airline was my first and taught me everything I needed to know before moving up. I've flown with Silver to Tampa once. The experience was actually very good. Before the pandemic everyone was friendly. I think I'd recommend Sliver to many SoFlo travelers.
I remember spotting Silver Airways at the Bar Harbor Airport here in Maine. It was so lovely to see their Saabs operating the BOS-BHB route that Cape Air usually serves. They began service at BHB in Summer 2019 however that only lasted a year because due to Covid, they stopped serving BHB. Would’ve loved to see their ATRs at BHB
Wow, this was a great report. I really love those edits, memes and cinematics! Btw.. I feel like I've seen this flight attendent I a previous video! Have a good one, thanks for posting!
I never really been into turboprops but I’ll admit that I wish I had an ATR 42 or 72 for personal pleasure and spent hours just flying it. It is a gorgeous airplane, both the ATR 42 and the 72!
I agree with you Silver is a nice airline. My husband and I fly them all the time from TPA, MCO, and FLL to EYW. We are going next month from TPA to EYW on the same ATR 42 you were on. It will be our first on the ATR as we've only ever flown their Saab 340B+'s. The Saab's are really getting tired...the last one we flew from MCO last year was 28 years old and it looked and felt every bit of that including a miss matched engine cowling cover on engine #1...it was 1/2 blue which leads me to believe they were pilfered off another airlines junked 340....(yikes!!!). I will say the Saab's are a sturdy little plane as we got caught on that same flight in a horrible thunderstorm just after takeoff and while very bumpy we still arrived safely. But anyway, they are always friendly and economical which is why we fly them to Key West from points all around FL also we still earn United miles which is important as that is our mainline carrier of choice as we live near their EWR hub. Great review, thanks....can't wait to experience the ATR in a few weeks.
Silver used to paint their planes silver and their engine nacelles pink, back when I flew on their SAAB 340 in March 2019 from KFLL to KDAB and back. Also 1:46 I love me some Doobie Brothers!
That Seat BIngo Prize was pretty awesome, as was the fact that your two friends both won! BTW, I also happen to think the pink is awesome. LOL I guess the pink flamingo being the mascot... But what about a Silver Fox? Less Florida I suppose. Great video, entertaining as usual. Thanks!
I flew Silver several times when offered Atlanta service. Mostly to West Virginia and a couple to Mississippi. They then had the Saab twin powered aircraft. We were offered water and soft drinks. In the rear of cabin were several side by side seats. Typically no one was back there except me. I enjoyed the freedom plus views. But due to lack of passengers they shut down Atlanta. The Saab aircraft had pink colored cowlings. I flew for business only. The routes were ideal for me. Oh yes they did offer service for a while out of Macon which was an added plus but again not enough passengers used them.
Thanks for this trip aboard an ATR 42. Do miss the days of some fine Turbo-prop aircraft which used to ply the skyways. One of my favorites (way before your time) was the Lockheed Electra II. A few airlines which flew these - Western Airlines; PSA (which had a lot of fun annoying UAL with trip times between SFO - LAX); Cathay; AA, to name a few. Viscount was British, but a fine machine. I think the last time I flew a turboprop was on a regional carry affiliated with Delta, that flew Saab 340's. Cheers...
I can remember flying North Central Airlines' Convair 580's from Chicago to various places in Wisconsin in the late 70's--most recent turboprop flight was on Delta Connection MSP-CWA on a Saab 340
Great trip report as always! Keep up the good work! PS- 4:53, Alaska being based in Washington because that might affect the reason people choose Alaska Air, if they don’t know anything about aviation and airlines. They might be looking for a flight from, idk, let’s say Raleigh to Juneau, they might be surprised to find out that Alaska doesn’t do that route, at least I don’t think they do. While the color of an aircraft doesn’t affect the route you searched up. Lol I’m making it so complicated, that’s just my opinion. Again itrip., keep up the good work
I had Silver chosen for me by NCL for one of my BOGO free and this is the BO from Pensacola to Orlando and I have flown on military MAC flights with cargo in the middle that we were strapped to the bulkhead seat facing the cargo strapped to the deck in the center. Silver gives 8 oz of water which I didn't get on the MAC flight from Philadelphia to Charleston SC. Just hope I get a seat near the rear to not have to walk far!
my best guess why Silver is pink is because Silver is the last name of the owner of the airline and pink goes with the flamingos that appear on their aircraft. Just a guess.
The reason why their name is Silver is because that’s what flamingos look like when they are juvenile. When they grow up, much like the airline has with the new ATR planes, they turn pink. Hope that helps!
You do have to give them credit, color wise, that they have a silver stripe on the plane & the silver circle in their logo. That's about as far as I can stretch that point. Lol
Loving the videos. Question. For the US what airline do you find to be better? American, United, Delta. Southwest is a couple of hours away so I don't normally pick them. Same with Jet Blue. I'd like your opinion on them though. Who has the better planes? Better service? What is the quietest planes to fly?
I understand what you’re referring for color. Silver is suppose to be silver bodies on aircrafts. But Pink is relate to “Breast Cancer ♋️ Awareness”. It’s research for cancer victims. That’s honor to “Pink organization”. I know it doesn’t make sense for color. But y’all have to respect that. 🌸🎀
I don’t disagree with you about the use of pink for breast cancer research. I worked for Silver when they painted the aircraft with pink. Silver used pink to add a more bold color to the aircraft. They did not use pink to honor breast cancer research. I am explaining Silver Airways’ reasoning to use pink in their livery.
@@gfrede1 If Silver Airways want to set any colors for aircrafts. That’s fine. But the corporation need to add any silver on aircrafts. That’s my opinion for “Pink Reason”. It might be relate to any organization. I think it’s honor for any organization. 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
When I was first in the Navy in 1980 I remembered a flight on a prop plane, but thought they were only in AV museums! A bottle of iced coffee would be a nice alternative to water.
The use of Black and Pink in an airline livery is very RARE, so I applaud them for that. Also, the fact that they're the sole operator of ATR aircraft in the US (besides FedEx Cargo) earns them extra points! My problem with Silver is: 1st - they're expensive! It is impossible to find a reasonably priced flight with Silver out of San Juan, 2nd - they NEED a rewarding frequent flyer program to build customer loyalty, 3rd - Why on Earth haven't they partnered with a bank or cu for a Credit Card that ties in benefits, such as free 1st bag, priority boarding, etc. They're NOT a new airline, and these are things that they should've, AT LEAST, considered by now. And 4th - Becoming an official regional feeder for a mainline carrier (ie. American, Delta, or United) could help them to grow quite substantially. They already have partnerships in place with United and JetBlue, but reciprocity with those carriers is very limited.
How much are the tickets? Are they very affordable? US Airways had some flights like this around the carolinas that were very affordable for the weekender to go to Myrtle Beach out of Hickory and Concord NC airports! I wish someone like Silver would start that back up, even if they were seasonal to start with! I have a place in Myrtle Beach! Alot of people used to fly these flights before 911 hit! They were canceled after that, and haven't returned yet!
So maybe pink has to do with the pink flamingos on its aircraft? And pink is perhaps a tropical color associated with SoFlo? As far as inflight service, maybe think of picking up a Starbucks lunch box or sandwich (where available) for your inflight snack/meal which would certainly best the likes of the unhealthy Delta crappy snack boxes. I’ve flown Silver Airways a number of times FLL/EYW/FLL for a long weekend. It’s nice to make the drive on the Overseas Highway ONCE and that’s it. Besides, a car is useless in EYW anyways. Btw, you are right Emil ... they’re employees are genuinely happy people. 👍🏻
If you want a snack always smart to bring your own. Also, please use spell check before you post. Love the ATR. I go back with Silver when they were Gulfstream. Flew on the B1900B.
