- Oasis rarely played the B-Side Rockin' Chair live. The studio version was played with acoustic guitars - this is one of a very few examples of the live 'electric' version of the song, fully professionally remastered for 2023.
Featuring Liam Gallagher singing at his absolute peak and new lead guitar parts from Noel Gallagher.
I am aware of only two other live performances of this version of the song by the band, Blackpool (for which only very low quality audio exists) and Gloucester (for which no audio currently exists). This is therefore the highest quality recording available today of this awesome version of an Oasis classic.

James, a while back Noel said that before they split they were talking about him and Liam joint writing songs. He even mentions the ‘Gallagher and Gallagher’ name for their venture. How do you think that would have panned out? And why would he want to sit down and write songs with someone who was constantly arguing with him and pissing him off? It would have lead to more arguments surely? Especially if Noel knocked back something Liam came up with and Liam thought it was good….
@@russ3628 He liked some of Liams songs like Song Bird and he wanted to co write he was struggling to write that amount of songs so frequently for every album

don't know if someone already posted this but this is not a soundboard recording, it's an audience recording. This one and Blackpool from 3 nights before were often labeled as SBD back in the day but they are not.
Yeah there’s no live rendition of this song that comes from a soundboard recording as of yet, though as far as audience recordings go this is pretty good

I get the feeling they were planning to play this track throughout the tour, it was played consistently during the first few gigs and at the mega store launch, and in all of these versions you can tell it was an immense effort by Liam, so that’s probably why it got scratched. If only they got to Earls Court before taking it off the setlist

They also played rockin’ chair at the Stoke Trentham Gardens in 95. I was there. I also think the O Zone were there and Kate Middlemiss. As well as Robbie.

Thanks so much James. If I'd have heard this in 95 I would have shit myself with excitement. I saw them at Leicester Granby Halls in November 95 and was made up when they did an electric version of Whatever! Rocking Chair would have made me even happier, the vox on this recording are 👌

Great find. Boy I had a trip down memory lane listening to this. It's always been one of my favourite Oasis songs. It takes me right back to studying art at college, long haired metal head that t was, also into Britpop (I took some stick from ppl for that. Still like both. Had a crush on a classmate who loved Pulp, and along with loads of other songs, their song Underwear was the soundtrack to those times. 😊

James, ever noticed the chorus is a similar chord pattern to Can't Buy Me Love - The Beatles (Em to Am)? the verse chords are similar to the verse chords on Let It Be too. The melody is pretty similar on that Em to Am too.

Thanks for this- big improvement in sound quality over the previous version! Re the studio version - don’t know if you have the US promotional CD of Wonderwall. That includes a different mastering of the studio Rockin Chair without the fade in. Another nice one to have in the collection.

I was at this gig. Met Bonehead afterwards and got him to sign a copy of WTSMG on CD! I think someone threw a shoe at Liam during Slide Away and he stormed off, with Noel taking over on vocals. Or none of that might have happened, and my addled memory is just playing tricks on me. Either way, great video!

Love this song..I still play my own cover version of it and people don't know it..Ive still got the cassette of Glastonbury 95 I recorded off the radio and there is an acoustic version of Noel doing Cast No Shadow back stage . Just before they went huge..That was the best time for me..The pop stations weren't playing them. They were ours. .Here's to better days..They can be again..Oasis gave you belief..Still do..❤
