I have been asked on a few occasions about doing an interview on the violent and dangerous times (because that's what they were) of Liverpool's 1990s Dance Scene, which I've rightfully declined. But let me state this for the record and explain a few things. The damage that the ecstasy/cocaine-driven club scene of the 1990s did to many people, including doormen and club-goers, is still being felt today. People like myself still live a hyper-vigilant life, fearing real or imagined enemies from the past and expecting retribution or payback at any moment, as we try to live a normal life. This experience has had a profound effect on me, and no doubt on others as well. There are also those whose lives were cut short or who ended up in jail serving life sentences. Additionally, there are those who were heavily involved in the drug-driven dance scene, whose relationships or marriages crumbled as a result, leaving their children to fend for themselves without any boundaries in their lives. This has contributed to the feral youth we see today. Looking back, it was a bizarre and dangerous subculture that I now view with horror and dismay. We would participate in call-outs (gatherings with the intention to beat or kill rivals), believing that we had the right to do as we pleased, regardless of the consequences. Thankfully, I survived that dystopian Mad Max era and turned my life around. The door industry of today is a different world compared to the 1990s, and it will never return to those dark days. The dance scene phenomenon, along with all its associated violence and danger, is now just a memory of the past. Education is key, and I encourage those who have survived it to focus on a future of meaning and purpose. Thanks.
The post traumatic stress of that era you describe is very accurate and is felt amongst those involved in the underworld generally once they get out. Once you've been involved heavily u can never mentally fully leave it behind which is why perhaps I do the channel . A therapeutic process and will be more so when I move onto more personal episodes from my journey. I run several businesses outside of this yt world completely separately and left my chaotic, criminal life behind me a decade ago after to many lost years behind the door and to many violent incidents to mention. I have sadly lost to many friends way b4 there time and seen the effects this life has on the person and the extended family network. I make a great effort not to judge anyone in my videos and not glorify or condone but take a historic look at the 20th century underbelly of society. I was only involved in door work for a few years and once the licensing came in I wudnt of stood a chance of getting licensed. But in that short period I was stabbed twice, had a pub I looked after set on fire with us upstairs and ended one mass brawl finding a loaded pistol kicked under a table. A very dangerous but fascinating period looking bck.
@@enquirer2.0 Not sure if "fascinating" is the right word. However, the subculture it created, consisting of dance music and drugs, is the product of a once ordered society that has lost its way due to liberalism and weakness. This situation will only worsen until it is addressed and corrected.
Hi Joe, do you still keep in touch with George H ?
Excellent assessment of the stark sombre reality of Liverpool's clubland in the late 80's - 1990's.
Remember us salford bnp joey?
Not really sure what you mean by "Versus" as I don't consider myself a hard man. I was a doorman (not a bouncer) who stood his ground, and at times was prepared to use extreme violence when defending anywhere I worked, or off the doors, which did occur now and then, as those in Liverpool at that time will vouch for. But at no time would I say I was a hard guy like others you mention who most certainly were/are.
The bizarre and dangerous subculture I swirled around in 😮back then is thankfully now behind me.
Thanks.
The versus thing creative license for the video. This series a historic look at 80s,90s,00s and some of the main characters . This was me picking my team from doormen from that era liverpool Manchester which I think were two of the most dangerous periods. Respect all of you mentioned a tough and dangerous job as you say, respect Ben. If you would like to do an interview about that period would be great to discuss contact@enquirermedia.co.uk
Like I say, those days are thankfully behind me. Cheers
@joeowenstalkingsense4439 All the best mate . 🙏
Joey, I remember you from back in the day. Being hard is always very subjective, what is hard to one person, may be not to another..
However, you were a good kick boxer when you were young and you were a handy. It's a much preferred term, in my opinion..
Thank god you're off the forums now..
Stay safe, and I enjoy your channel..
Didn’t Stephen french say U ran away when he pulled up on ya!
Another top notch video mate, gotta respect the research you’ve done and the way you narrate it, keep em coming brother!!
Cracking vid as always !!❤
Cracking vid as usual mate. Picked yourself a formidable team as well!
Throughly enjoyed this series! Amazing job!! Maybe one person who could have been on the list from Liverpool was Earnie Shavers, he was older but could still bang.
Dead, jugged-up, or under constant surveillance.
What a career move.
Or you! A judge
Awsome channel, one of my favourite 👊🏽

Really love these videos you do. Listening to the history of all these guys lives doing what they knew best. Any one of them could have been your best mate , or worst enemy.👌
Thankyou mate
Garry spiers probably done the lot in a physical fight
Loving these videos bud .👍🏻
Enjoying these match ups.
I served in the Kings regiment with Peter Clarke, great lad and also a good boxer. I also knew Joey Owens from my days in the Liverpool branch of the BNP. So as you can imagine this video is very interesting and nostalgic for me. Keep up the great content 😎👍
Thankyou mate I just saw a clip of Peter Fury talking about him and Peter Clarke training together in jail
Great comment. Everyone should have voted BNP when we had the chance.
Was you serving with either jimmy owens or John hickey?? 80,s ? If you did I boxed these two lads. Boxing army champions at the time were the kingos
@@salforlad64 I remember John Hickey well mate. Another decent boxer. 91-99 was my era.
@@ste2442 Hello Kingo 👊😎👌. I served 91-99. Spent most of my time in Mortars and Milan platoon's. Lads knew me as Skin Willow.
Thanks Ben good post. We know it is subjective my friend.
Thankyou mate
Brilliant video respect brother YNWA
Being an Aussie I don’t know any of these men, so I have to go with your picks, but having said that, I’d be very polite to all of them if I was going into any establishment they were looking after. 😅
Aussiev v UK wud be a good match up

@enquirer2.0 if ur ever visiting dublin be sure to let me know ben I'm a 15 minute drive from dublin Airport pal
enjoy your videos on these hard men gary spiers was a legend he was a body guard doorman work all around the world
Johnny Morrissey was hard as nails, he took no prisoners and had a formidable reputation. Anyone who went up against him with hostile intentions must have been one serious tough guy. However, it cannot be denied by those in the know, he was a great footballer on the wing for Everton FC and indeed was an integral part of their championship winning team in the 1969-70 season.
Hahah yess. Scotty Ed too
Never knew he played for Everton.
@@bazjr86 He certainly did.
Terry O'Neil equals Legend 🙌
Great number 2.... iv worked along side shaun Smith at a bkb event... and Robin barret is an amazing man... iv been in a few of his magazines and had a spot in his bouncers magazines... robbin is a man you should cover... keep up the great work....🎉
Thankyou mate just reading Robins book now interesting character
@enquirer2.0 iv met him a few times in Manchester when I was running a few doors... he has an amazing life... very very interesting man...
About right imo. Gary would be hard to beat. I used to DJ in 80s, Liverpool firms were very respected.
what about Jimmy O' Halloran from Liverpool?
Don’t think any of them touch Gary spires, different level .
😂 Chris woulda walked through him
Agreed he was so fast off the mark and accurate.
Wasn't Earnie Shavers a bouncer in Liverpool. My money would be on him to demolish everyone else on the list . Great channel.!!
Any news coming out on JM in Spain ?
Nothing yet still holding him I believe
By the looks of it he’s only getting tried for laundering so he will only be looking at a short sentence with time served.
cant wait for next video is there a huge final to come as britains hardest bouncer area
Yes mate gonna do interviews with many of the lads from back in 90s as well
@@enquirer2.0 get terry oneil and alfie lewis be great if you could get these on a podcast with you good job on this video ben
Chris Little wasn’t a Manchester lad, he was Stockport.
Yes mate greater Manchester included
Loads of tough men in Liverpool but keep under the radar believe me
Early 2000s Liverpool Kev Axworthy was one of the hardest men on the doors. Ex Para, Ex Cage Gladiator fighter. Not a face so to speak but hard as fuck.
Brian Schumacher his name is mate, not Billy.
Yes mate it was billy who I put him up against
@enquirer2.0 watch it back brother, you called him Billy. It was just a slip of the tongue.
Love your videos mate 👍
Chris Little would beat him no question
Yeah if he did his usual trick with the boxing gloves lol
Nice one mate. Good to see Shaun Smith up there 🥊👍
Youl be in the South one mate and stormin Norman
Yev picked the right team ‘ as I am from Liverpool met a few from Liverpool and Manchester and worked Manchester

I worked for Ste Clarke at premiere many years ago was a mad company to work for 😂
The doorman ……. When nobody will employ you 🤣
I seen Stephen coles injuries first hand absolutely brutal
Sounded terribke
Trevor Roberts ..Bolton ..
Paul Doyle mentions morrissey as being his crime boss in an interview
Yea lol.. He was. And Morrissey was kinahan. 'going against the organisation'
If it comes to being most deadliest nobody comes close to Johnny morrissey (allegedly).
What about tommy heffron from oldham
Mate, never apologise for your opinions, as long as they're your own, they're as valid as anyone else's.
I know it’s Bolton but what about max v paddy ??
😂😂😂
I'm from huddersfield and even I know they were top dog's in the Lancashire underworld
@@lorrainearmitage4331 Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang!
Ste Clarke has been out of prison for over 5 years now.
I think that terry oneil was in a prison series back in the 90s, im sure it was him who played sum mad prisoner and i think he was in game of thrones
Was his name Tarzan. Loosley based on Charlie Bronson.
@widdershins4778 it was called the guvnor.....its onbutube
Was called the guvnor
Yes Liverpool 1....also civvies all on utube ....total gentleman total real deal .worked on my friends bar
No Frenchie was Andrew John not his right hand man on the doors?
They were like brothers frenchy in episode 1. Andrew John was the only man frenchy said he feared
Apologies boss.
Some of these match ups, i actually thought were the same person, as in tye right and left pictures of each
Johnny morrissey is on a different level to everyone, trust me if hes looking for you, end it
Agreed
Liverpool 8 - Manchester 3 for me 👍
Micky Francis, Lot 19 ?
Damein noonan would wallk through him.
Issac just a big lump, and shit boxer.
Chris little, just a bully boy , hes nothing.
Chris bacon would destroy everyone and a gentleman.

Lenny Richards is probably the hardest guy to come out of Manchester
During the Maori wars in the 1840s.. the British Said take the women awayband we'll fight...
The Maoris replied, our women fight too!!
Thats their mind set, Lovely people, til theyre not!!
I remember Steven Cole he worked and lived in Kirkby. He was a proper bully and was despised by many. He was killed by a group of fellas, one of them being John Riley.
John was a known paedophile around Kirkby, he is in that little black nonce book for it, there a little fact for ye, an John Dillion an Tommy Cross were drug dealing police informants, another little fact for ye
He only bullied Rats, he didn't bully good people they all Rats Kirkby full of Rats
great upload mate stephen and is brother were jailed some time ago for 10 and 16 years and were made to pay back by the courts over eight hundred thousand pounds back big time they was, and yes i remember terry o neil in liverpool 1 mate playing a bouncer in some gangland feud with paul usher/barry grant from brookside👍
Trained MMA with Steve Clarke in Kirkby years ago big man hard as fuck but a nice fella
Joey owens bumped off the other fella allegedly.
We won!!!
((just)
😉
So many of these blokes have Irish names.
Most of Liverpool are second generation Irish, if you look on a map Liverpool is the first place you hit from Ireland
I'm from Derry 🇮🇪
@@user-mi5op4si9bthat’s a myth the scousers like because they think it sets them apart from the rest of the English. People act like Liverpool didn’t exist before the Irish in the 1800s, Liverpool was a city well before that. There are places in the UK with higher concentrations of Irish DNA than Liverpool and it’s not second generation either, that would mean parents. It’s normally great grandparents if not further down the line than that. Most came in the 1800s.
You'll probably see a similar pattern when he does London episode. As Irish diaspora living in England myself, it's not something I take any pride in.
As far as Brit villains in English cities it tends to go like this:
Irish: Wild with badly calibrated risk assessment skills. Devil may care. Burn bright but not for long. Loyal.
Scottish: Lone wolves, determined, the most fearless of the lot.
English: Calculated. Intelligent. Manipulative. Organised. Like to operate with strict rules.
I'm from Liverpool and the first time I went to Ireland years ago I said to my mate who I was with why have all the shops got Scouse names?! I seriously thought that cos of all the kids I was at school with
I always heard Tony Sinnott was something else, supposedly very, very dangerous.
Yeahh from Speke really bad bully but he could fight an wouldn’t be scared to use anything from what ive heard like but he was around a lot of dangerous people aswell good mates with Schumacher in Brian’s podcast he says a pal of mine got shot dead that’s who he’s referring to sinnot
Gary came from a wrestling background would smash all these men on this list even lenny mclean would use for back up when needed
Tasty geezers
Scousers are just harder in general
😂😂😂 think they are just got big mouths
@@Tatethemussiepedoobviously any place can have hard fellas but I’d say out of every city in the uk Liverpool has the most game men in it and probably higher level criminals not that it’s anything to brag about like haha 😁 it’s hard to say impossible to know but that’s my opinion
@@Tatethemussiepedoit’s obviously all I’ve the place though not just one spot
@@Carl-nb7lq load of rubbish mate I'm from Salford so my opinion is more valid, where are you from?
@@Tatethemussiepedo if your from Salford then it’s going to be biased isn’t it same if your a scouser people are going to think where they are from is worse you know I seen a lad saying Bradford was the most dangerous another saying Brixton it’s a pointless argument really every place has it’s dangerous hard men an crime
His political background know is only speaking trruths .he turned his life round and has got good suport.
I didn't criticise anyone everyone entitled to their view including myself
When I read his book and he mentioned his disgust at a church being converted into a degenerate nightclub, I knew he was a decent guy. I felt the same way as a young man about town when I saw the same thing in my city.
As far as his political comments in the book, I don't see them as political comments at all. They were just honest observations of the truth. The truth isn't political. It just is what it is. How you react to it is political.
Didn’t no Ronnie Pickering was on the doors there thought he was hull😂😂
what a laugh 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 not heard that 1 before , only on every post last 7 years ya banger
@@garymoore3212 blow me rent boy
Morrisey got more bodies than a Chinese cemetery..apparently 😂
shaun smith why is he in in here .
🫵💯🔥👍🇬🇧
Gary spiers was a maori warrior, and those people fight to the death. A lot of these fighters mentioned here are fist fighters/brawlers. Gary didnt stand there exchanging punches, his focus was to do you in every way he was expert at. He was massive in his younger day, expert at wrestling and martial arts. There wasnt much chance any of these fighters here could get the better of gary in a one on one street fight.
Gary Sandland, French and Panama from Liverpool, top boys and all mates with O'Neal
Yes mate gary sandland shud of been on
Gary spiers would beat noonan hands down. What about mick lyons Wigan good mate and trained with spiers.
Liverpool all day 🙏
Jowey owen one of the coolest men to walk this earth believe you me
Yeah definitely….NOT 😂🤦🏽♂️
Crazy how hou picked that Clarke fella over Noonan, The Noonans are well known all Uk, Their name use to carry serious weight, Being head of security at the Hacienda when all over dangerous gangs wanted it (Salford CheethamHill, Moss Side etc) ment you were pretty much top of the food chain. Go up to most people & ask them if they’ve heard of Stephen Clarke they will say “Who?” then ask them who Damiem Noonan was..
Just an opinion Noonans top firm but believe me ask anyone in UK underworld about the Clarkes and Wolfpack very dangerous
Clarks very tough .deadly
Dessie probably wasn’t as handy with his fists as Clarke but far more dangerous. He wacked a few people in the 80s/90s.
@@Restrodsworth Was Damien & Clarke not Dessie.
@@Restrodsworth Clarks and his brothers offed a few .one jailed for a blonde murder
Mate come off it little would av put him to sleep in seconds where you getting this info from
Gary spiers ?? Stephen Clarke would end him quick plus spiers is from new Zealand Clarke would kill him
Deluded beyond belief.

Noonan was murdered, didn't die in a car crash.
He died in a motorbike accident on holiday. His brother Dessie was murder in Chrolton
What a stupid episode do u think this is a school playground
Joey Owen’s talks sense
He does .
