      Typical FES gliders, given the low nose position, have small propellers and hence are not as efficient and powerful as retractable ones behind the cockpit. There are some exceptions: Elfin by RX Aero (if it ever sees the light of day) and a small company is retrofitting FES to older Antares gliders, as its nose if higher from ground as typical gliders.

      @@gliderpilot67 "Silent 2" also, because it was certified under a different set of regulations, to my knowledge. FES gliders uses a relatively safe voltage of 110 volts as opposed to RES dangerous 300-400 volts, especially if you need to use the motor in the rain.

    Dude, I never seen a creator in more need of a 360°camera. I know it would be tricky to use, especially it's placement (since it would inevitably affect your's plane aerodynamical performance). But flying is an experience that needs to be shown in that way

    Big fan from Worcester CGC, but I have to tell you that your Audio Vario is the most irritating set of tones I have ever heard. Maybe climbing in the rotor made an odd tune but I think it might sound better if it was tuned to a major pentatonic scale 😀sounds like it was tuned by an android🙄

    Okay... is the continuous audio indicator necessary? You are up really high, you aren't going to hit the ground if you drop a few accidental meters. I would have to mute that noise and just listen to the wind. You already got rid of the worst noise; the engine and propeller, but you replaced it with an incessant "boodoodoodooodooooooooodooooooooooodbooboobooboobooboodoooooooodoooooooooooooooooo" can you not have a VSI (vertical speed indicator) like many fixed wing aircraft have? I'd rather glance at that than hear boodoopboodoopbodoooooooooo all day :) Just teasing mostly though omg it would get on my nerves eventually. Great flying and thank you for the video! EDIT: You have an altimeter right there, literally right there. It tells you all you need without that machine singing. :)

    • @ronaldgadget
      @ronaldgadget Месяц назад +9

      OK, to us glider pilots, the _boodoo boodoo_ is music. I set the volume to be so low that I can just hear it above the airstream noise.

    • @glidingadventures

    • @thenickdude
      @thenickdude Месяц назад +2

      You're not looking for trends sustained over 30 seconds or so that could be monitored by glancing at a VSI, you need to listen for second to second measurements in order to stay properly centred in thermals.
