Since Covid, I’ve insanely rarely bought any boxes or anything other than singles. The prices just don’t even come close to what you can pull most of the time. It’s just not worth it and honestly the same as burning your money in your backyard.
Yeah I’m in the same boat, I started getting into collecting hockey cards right before 2020 and didn’t know “hobby” boxes were a thing until I started watching this channel in the middle of 2020. I only got boxes at my local Walmart occasionally. I stopped after I seen how high prices are for hobby, it’s a fucking joke. I bought two fat packs on a big sale a year ago and that was it.
@@odeszaa..I just look for singles, Eg. Hall of Famer rookies(no matter the sport), or guys who’ll be in the Hall that are still playing. If you’re looking at slabs, look around 7’s to 10’s. There’s plenty out there for decent prices. Even base cards of Hall of Famers are worth it. With new cards you’re paying Extra for the card stock.
UD hopefully loses the license soon. The price points & ROI just never even come close. Considering they increased printing substantially, without any QC improvements, it's a bad beat. Hoping something changes soon, because it's a joke now.

Hockey prices are absolutely horrific at this point. Still remember all retail formats being $10/YG between blasters, retail boxes, and tins. I understand some increase with inflation, but at this point I may just be OPC only for a while.
Yep, it was bad enough when I was paying $10 an autograph in some football draft pick blasters in 2016 and now I’m supposed to pay $20 US a Young Gun? Totally ridiculous. The only thing I will buy will be series 2 retail as sit on it for about 10 years for Bedard and the rest of the crop. I have no competition where I live for hockey retail. If the crop pans out then the unopened tins and blasters will increase in value and if he doesn’t then I’ll open it all up. I did this with 15-16 retail but it also was a lot cheaper.

Tins were always the best bang for the buck option. I used to always buy a bunch when they were $30-40, this price hike is ridiculous, especially when theres so many terrible Young Guns in the crop
I loved the tins. I would buy as many as I could. But looks like UD took a meeting with Panini and made their product junk/worthless on top of boning their consumers on price. I won’t be buying a single tin or blaster from 2023, that’s for sure

These are $60.00 at my Walmart in NY. Still too much. I bought a blaster and it was weird opening 3 packs. I will continue to buy old product for super cheap compared to this.
Walmart is selling these tins for $100(with tax), seems a lil excessive. I Literally laughed out loud at the store when I saw this because someone had actually bought one. I would not pay a penny over $45 for that crap lol. I am starting to lose interest in even watching rips/breaks.

Get these at a show or through your LCS, it will be a lot easier on your wallet. I picked up a couple of tins on Nov.1 (release day) for just over the wholesale price (CDN$50) through one of my suppliers.
NFL and NBA cards were about triple for the same 'type' of NHL products..obviously because of supply and demand...but now theyre only double...NHL cards are 33% more expensive than they should be comparitively speaking..
Years ago I used to have a Target store where the vendor never opened the full 24 pack retail boxes, I would take them up to the self checkouts with a $20 blaster and scan the blaster for every full retail box I bought. They finally caught on when the packs sold weren’t matching their quantity.
These tins used to an approachable price point, esp for parents with less money who still want their kids to have a decent card opening experience. The Upperdeck monopoly SUCKS for the hobby.
series 2 hobby box presale at my local dave and adams is 300 dollars just to not get bedard, lord knows there's times where you need 10-15 boxes to finally pull the it guy, its insanity, how can they do that right off the bat?? I'm quitting, selling my cards and only buying singles and 90s junk wax
Posted odds do not equal a guarantee! Although UD tries to put a YG in every fourth pack, that is not what odds techhnicaly means. The boxes also now say shit happens and if you don't get one - too bad! Buying Tins at this price when Hobby is still reasonable is just insane!!!!!
I'm done buying series 2. I just started watching people rip packs for the 1st time right after series 2 came out. Didn't watch any series 1 till just now. Kinda like them better & they're way cheaper from what saw at the hobby shop i went to today. I might dive into them. I'm not 100% sure yet.
I pre ordered a case of series 2 tins. I was going to pre order a case of hobby for $2000. Eventually I couldn't find one available. When I did, they wanted over $3000 for the pre order. It wouldn't shock me if series 2 hobby will be around $300 a box.

At what point will UD just start selling “hit packs”. Spare me all this base. Zeeree could literally heat his home all winter just off the base from upper deck. Epack is kind of that, but it doesn’t give you the same sensation as ripping. Gimme like 3 packs with 3 cards each.
I bought a tin at walmart for 59 dollars yesterday here in AZ I got three young Guns & I got a decent young Gun in Dustin Wolf. I was overall happy with it I would of rather payed like $30 or 40 but I just wanted to try it. I won’t be buying series 2 to rich for my blood.

The fact that five to ten years down the road the boxes and tins will be 10x to 20x their retail worth. You are better off buying them and putting them in storage.
For certain years, yes. Especially when the tins were $25 and in some cases $15 on clearance. I bought a ton of 15-16 series 1 and 2 blasters and tins when they came out and they have gone up in value substantially because of McDavid. Even 19-20 you could buy entire tin and blaster cases for less than $200 on close outs and those are going up because of the Hughes boys and Makar. The problem is this years tins will not, they are already too high for and SRP and the Young Guns are all carryovers with limited potential. Series 2 might be worth sitting on for 10 years if Upper Deck doesn’t raise the SRP because of Bedard.

Love zeeree but my experinece with cloutsnchara was horrible. Bad pricing, bad handling of cards, unrealistic randoms, and really hate how they treat cards we pay for even when it's a giant hit. Anyone who doesn't respect the handling of the hobby isn't a breaker for me and how I want my cards cared for.
