This song, while seemingly simple, shows how well _The Cars_ wrote catchy hooks. Benjamin Orzechowski was a great musician and I like how he approached the chord changes while supporting the song creatively in certain measures.
Absolutely. This song is full of little hooks. Well written and well played by everyone. I especially liked their guitar player...fantastic player. Thanks!
@@BassCovers Elliott Easton is a phenomenal player as is their keyboardist Greg Hawkes. Both, as I understand it, studied at Berklee College of Music. Pretty impressive credentials right there.
I had never paid much attention to this song before, but the whole song is pretty much Burning Love. Glad someone else noticed. Ocasek even sings the "ooh hoo hoo" line from the chorus around @2:00
Yo dude..just discovered your channel..ITS GREAT!...love playin along with you and the song...great choices too....keep it up bro...learning alot from your commentaries also!
I think someone in the Cars was an Elvis fan ;-) Ric (?) even drops in a subtle Ooh hoo hoo. It's pretty cool that the bass is pretty much a straight 8ths 80s synth type line but then there's a rock turnaround
Hey Greg, I just recently found your channel and I'm really loving the content!~ I came across your "What You Won't Do For Love" cover and I was instantly hooked If you could, I would like to request "I Don't Wanna Be Okay Without You" by Charlie Burg on a 4-string bass. It would mean a lot to me :) Thanks~~

Hey James...thanks!
We can thank Elvis (Jerry Scheff) for the cool bass fill at the beginning- "burning love":
Thank you Jerry Scheff...and thank you for noticing it...good ear ;)
@@BassCovers No problem, its also interesting that the B-A-G chords in the pre-chorus are very similar as well. Thanks for the great covers!
