Just when I thought I was starting to understand Martinů, I hear this... He always amazes me with the seemingly impossible amount of dense textures in his pieces, but the sheer ingenuity of it really shines in chamber music. I don't think I'll ever know what it's like to hear this in my head and be able to transcribe it onto paper. He really was one of the greats.

Isn't it strange how we can change our perception of a composer when we hear their chamber music, especially String Quartets. The string quartet really digs deep into the qualities of a composer, there can be no hiding place. Each instrument is totally exposed. It's a fascinating genre.

this is great. the tempo seems too fast unfortunately. it looses it musical sense.
