I feel like putting the title of the song in the chorus is incredibly common but gets talked about more with Imminence. Knocked Loose has essentially done the same with Blinding Faith, Don't Reach for Me, Everything is Quiet Now, etc but never heard the same criticism for them.

I think it because you can hear the words that are being said easily when its singed (or sing/scream mix) than screamed. Which makes it more obvious for me. Usually Eddie will sing the title of the song very stretched out for example in "Desolation", "Temptation", or " Come Hell Or High Water". I don't think its bad for title of the song to be main lyric of the chorus but If I can predict most of the time that the title of the song in going to be in the beginning or end of the chorus (sung stretched out), it feels very repetitive. I think if the title of the song lyric wasn't sung stretched out in most of their music, people wouldn't be talking about that detail.

I totally get what you mean, but I also think that most of the songs other bands release, the title is also included in the lyrics. And I also think that it is totally fine, because I can remember much better what the song sounded like when reading the title and I keep the song better in mind. Sometimes I have a chorus in mind and think "fck, what was the title of the song?" 😂

@@RUNTY_OWBut then you’re jjst nitpicking to find something to dislike about them. Like you WANT to hate their music.

@@maggiethechattyhound9580 I don't think that's fair it's just his opinion on something that stood out to him on a first listen. Even if I don't find it to be an issue I could see how someone else might find it repetitive

Man wants bands to name their tracks things like “why did I leave the dishes in the sink last night”

Absolutely loved the Holy Hell comparisons. When I first heard this album, some of it reminded me of songs like Death Is Not Defeat and Holy Hell, I’m surprised I never caught the similarities of Death By A Thousand Cuts to A Wasted Hymn tbh

I dunno man. If the worst thing you can say about a band is that they include their song titles as lyrics, they're doing pretty good. I will never understand who Imminence gets shit on for this when so many other bands do it.

The one song you said isn’t predictable and more “innovative” literally has the lyric of the song more than any other song. “Death by a thousand cuts”
I can’t help but laugh at the reactors sometimes ..

lyrics often decide the name of a track lol, what do you want them to name it? caring about track titles and how they correlate with the lyrics is crazy

Sleep token wish they could sing like an Angel! Imo. Imminence is something else! Some people listen 1 cleaner song.. and act like they know imminence! I feel bad for them. Imminence is next level. If vegeta heard this song, he would say: it's over 9000

ive been listening to this type of music for over 25 years, and its never been an issue if the title of the song is in the lyrics. is this a recent style of criticism or something? weird..

17:49 Yep, Metalbirb got that notion in your head. The reality is he(Metalbirb) is trying to find something bad to say as a critic, and came off way to strong which in turn put people off. I would have to give up so much great music just because it follows the typical format , and that my friend is complete hogwash.

I really agree with a lot of what you said here. I should really like this band, I think the vocalist is extremely good, some parts remind me a bit of a more classic melodic metal, the riffs and atmospheres are amazing and epic.
but something really feels a bit cookie cutter. maybe it's the song structures, that the songs feel like they're all in the same key or the same-y feeling melodies of the choruses.
