I see this a lot but it’s usually people that haven’t owned a fold that say the gap is so bad. It’s really not a big deal and I think the FAR more important difference is the fact the fold is ipx8 water resistant which as far as I know makes it the only foldable currently that can be submerged. Which normally I wouldn’t really say is a massive selling point but back when I had my fold 3 I remember once I got some salt in the hinge so I just dunked it in warm water. Immediately the phones hinge felt like butter again. I can’t imagine what I would do if a grain of something got inside a foldable that wasn’t waterproof
It is made, that if there would be sand or any debris inside the screen, it wouldn't get scratched or when dropped the point of force would be on the edges and not in the middle. That makes it more durable to falls and anything between the screens when closed.

Samsung and Xiaomi have this space not only to avoid damaging the screen with dust, but it also reduces the stress in the crease area a little when the device is closed. This certainly guarantees that Samsung and Xiaomi will last longer than Honor, in theory.
i chose xiaomi fold because of this reason. while i dont want too much gap like samsung, i also dont want gapless because your folding screen will be affected by the way you close the phone. honor claim 400000 folding test done but only for reference. screen will still crack from user using habits

If you fold it too much, there's a high possibility that the screen will go out. The first two phones have an open screen. The third phone will destroy the screen after two months of use.
samsung guarantees that the screen can be opened and closed a lot, but not the honor. If Honor opens and closes too much, a thick line appears on the screen or it breaks.
The Gap is there to prevent the screen from exploding when the phone is closed I wouldn't be surprised if the honor phone has the absolute worst screen lifespan out of all three.
