This song is based on La Citta di Smeraldo. It’s about a man who lived in a castle and kept to himself (he thought he was ugly). A woman came to his castle one day and picked some of his flowers from his garden. At first he was mad but then he found out she was selling flowers for a living and watched her as she picked them. He never revealed himself in fear that she would react to him badly. To help her he decided to plant a flower that didn’t exist so she could sell it for a lot of money. One day she stopped coming and he learned that she died. He regrets not talking to her because he didn’t love himself to begin with, therefor the lyrics “But I still want you.”

Honestly Caitlin I rather you be less energetic and more emotional because this is real, this is raw and this is how you felt at the time and that's what I want to see. You should really get into less popular BTS songs they have a lot of meaningful emotional lyrics that really do hit hard, you should check out 00:00, when I read the lyrics to that song I bawled, I really needed that at the time they gave me hope when I was feeling very very down. Also I know you say you prefer more stuff from the vocal line but you should really really check out some songs from the rap line I find their lyrics to be the best. I'm not a rap person I mean I enjoy it sometimes but I'm not really into it much but the rap line from BTS I could listen to them all day to me they are GOD TIER! Their energy and chemistry when they perform together is out of this worl, please check out Tear live performance, the way Hobi snapped there, the raw emotions they display every time they perform it live I guarantee you it's gonna hit you hard, I've cried to that performance and it's a rap performance I usually just cry at ballads so it was very shocking to me. For more vocal line excellent vocals you should 100% check out House of Cards, their delivery is stunning and their harmonies are perfect.
Something that will probably make you more emotional: jimin sings the line "I must hide because I am ugly" and this is very emotional coming from jimin especially because he used to starve himself because he thought he was fat and the nickname mochi started because during debut days he had very pail skin and big cheeks and he took it the wrong way and thought people were calling him fat which is something he is alre5very insecure about

When Jimin said “I must hide because im ugly” it was meant as in ugly in personality and not physically. This song is hiding ones true self just for a loved one. There is also times where the members have cried during the performance, this song is very emotional even if you cant relate to it personally, it just hits differently. This is my absolute favorite vocal line song and it makes me want to cry every time I hear it. The boys tend to cry when they sing it, too, I've heard. I'm sure that there are several comments talking about the story behind the song, but the truth is, BTS made up the story, too. You could say that it's a sad take on the Beauty and the Beast legend, where instead of falling in love, the girl dies. RM wrote this song and they created the "legend" that it's based on to emphasize the importance of loving yourself. The story about the flower was spread on the internet by a supposed florist that went searching for the flower in the story and found it. He had heard about the flower and the story from an Italian woman and BTS even created an Instagram and FB page for the flower shop. The thing is, the florist's name translates to "Yourself" and the name of the woman that told him the story translates to "Love". Also, the pink and blue flowers that are in some of the BTS videos are supposed to be the Smeraldo flower. It doesn't actually exist. And, Caitlin, don't worry about your reaction not being energetic. We want you to be real, not fake something that you aren't feeling. This is a sad song and it's meant to be sad. You're entitled to your feelings and we respect that. I wish I could give you a hug. Oh, and if you want a happier song, you should go listen to V's solo project, "Sweet Night". It's all in English, so you can just listen to the song and you don't have to react to it unless you want to, but pay attention to the lyrics and DON'T watch the MV for the song. The lyrics actually end up indicating a happy ending, but the images chosen for the MV give it an entirely different, sad feel. If you do watch it, keep in mind that the title of the song, "Sweet Night", indicates a happy time. V asks a question in the song and but it's not actually answered in the song. The answer is the title.
Watching you get teary caused me to get teary and like- I can relate to you cuz I too felt the lyrics on quite a personal level and on top of that the raw emotion you can hear in their voices, especially live... this song truly does hit hard

I saw them on their Love Yourself tour when they came to Canada in 2018 and to say it was overwhelming is an understatement. This song is so amazing because the live version is even better than the recorded one. As the tour went on, they started added adlibs and experimenting with longer, higher notes and harmonization. It was beautiful.
Yesss, their vocals are really good and thank you for appreciating V's soulful voice, waiting for stigma reaction. But Jungkook's adlibs at the same time harmonizing were so good and should be appreciated. Indeed, our main vocalist. As an army, even he is not my bias, I really appreciate his talent as main vocalist of BTS, not only he is the most stable one when it comes to live performances (armys definitely know this) but also, we all know he is doing background vocals of their songs as well the solo songs of other members in their album, almost 80% of harmonization and adlibs for the songs, doing the guide for their songs is just amazing. Also, Jimins voice has really a great tone and a unique one. Also Jin's voice, is really great especially in hjgh notes as well as Jimin. Overall, just want to say the live performance, Jk really nailed it for me.
This is why BTS is different and this is why they have a whole ARMY. Their music speaks to us and for us. They don't speak as an IDOL to Fans, they speak as human to human. As sad as this song is it gives me great strength every time I listen to it. You were so right when you said that it is about being brave enough to put yourself out there in the name of love. The story that inspired this song is in itself a sad story, but it is the message that BTS was sharing with us, being brave and strong and comfortable within our skin to allow ourselves to love others. Caitlin we understand. You don’t have to always make your videos cheery and energetic, we appreciate the fact that you actually feel the music (and I personally like it when people’s reaction actually match the feeling of the song, which yours did.) And it’s okay to get emotional while listening to songs, honestly even though I’ve heard this song atleast a hundred times it still manages to get me emotional as well. Plus the emotion with which they sing makes it hit even harder. Also I agree, taehyung has a very unique type of voice. As many ARMYs have described it, his voice is like a warm blanket that surrounds you on a cold winter day and provides you warmth and comfort. I recommend listening to some of his self-produced songs which are not a part of any album like ‘winter bear’, ‘sweet night’, ‘4 o’clock’ and ‘scenery’.

I absolutely love this song. I love all of their emotional songs, even if they make me cry every time. Another really good one was a solo by Jin that he wrote called "Tonight" it's so sweet but so sad, he wrote it after his sugar glider passed away
This was my favourite song when I first became an army because of the vocals and the deep lyrics, it really made me cry. And then I read about the story this song is based off of and I sobbed for days it's so heartbreaking.
I loved your reaction. It fit the song. I cry almost every time I hear it. For me, that missed opportunity... that's what hurts me the most because my nature is indecisiveness. To miss out on something as raw and powerful as a growing love that could last just because I couldn't decide if I wanted to show myself or not... it hurts. HURTS. I get emotional every time I see or hear this song, but it's one of my favorites. For me, the biggest message in this song is that to fully love a person, you have to accept your flaws and love yourself first. Let go of your insecurities, stop hiding behind that mask and reveal your true self because that’s who you are. It’s what made you who you are. You are not ugly, you are worthy of love.

It is always good to see someone being impacted by the beauty of a song like this one. I have to say, Truth Untold is amazing and their performance carries a lot of emotion and sadness. The story of La Citta di Smeraldo is really well portrayed in this. I was lucky to see them live in their last concert in Brazil and being able to experience this song, specially right after Epiphany was a whole new set of emotions. I was immersed in tears at the moment haha And yes, Tae voice is really out of this world. Ps: There is a video of the performance they did here and it was really something else. it's really alright to not be 'energetic' or 'funny' when listening to some of their songs, like, when I first heard TTU when it was released I was crying my eyes out. It hit me very personally too, so I understand what you feel. It's been that way for me for quite a few of their songs, there are some I've sobbed to and just stared into space for like 10mins afterwards because I was so exhausted from the emotions it pulled out of me. their music is so amazing, a lot of their songs you most probably will be energetic and stuff listening to but some of their songs will be like this. their diversity is one of my favourite things about them, and both aspects should be shown and appreciated, not just the fun parts!! we will definitely understand if something similar to this video would happen again in the future, so please don't feel insecure or anything about posting these types of videos, for me it just shows an even deeper appreciation of the guys' music and we can all relate to your reaction

o give you a more detailed backstory on the song, someone commented this on another reaction ; "The Truth Untold is based on a short story, 'La Città di smeraldo' that takes place in a small town in Italy in the 1500s-1600s and it's about a man who was considered "ugly and grotesque" that he hid himself away from any human interactions and lived alone in his castle. His only joy was growing flowers in a garden and one night he saw a young woman creep into the garden, steal flowers and leave. He was outraged and stayed up the next evening in hopes of catching her in the act but fell asleep. This went on for some time and eventually realized this nightly ritual was something he was coming to look forward too. One day he gathered up the courage to go into the nearby village where he found the young woman was living in poverty and was using his stolen flowers to make a living. Since he still considered himself ugly, he thought he would work to create a flower that has never been seen before, fill his garden and in turn help the young lady live a better life by selling these rare flowers for a high price. He spent extensive time trying to make this flower and eventually he did, grew enough of them to fill his garden but the woman never returned back. He later learned that she had died during the time he was working and the song is filled with his shame, regret and sorrow about what "could have been" if he had showed himself to her earlier. The boys are often inspired by books, movies, art, etc which in turn inspires some absolutely brilliant songs with stunning visuals but one of the main reasons we love them so much is because of their lyrics and how we can relate to them. I cried so hard during the performance of this at Wembley last year. I'm a Jin stan so having this play straight after Epiphany was hard since I was already so emotional and moved by that performance. Then I got smacked in the face with the Truth Untold and everyone thought Jimin has started crying because he turned around and I just lost it. I went with my friend and we joke about this video she took of me sobbing with our shared rip-off lightstick. Best night of my life though haha

Girl, this is a great reaction! Please don‘t feel like you have to be super happy and energetic in every single video or ever. Just letting a song hit you right where you are at in that moment is all we ask for (well, me at least). Or to say it in BTS‘ words: Don‘t put on a smiling mask and go see us. If I had to do that that would make me want to stop putting out reactions. So, you know, you just do you! I also really love how the vocal line sounds here. You can hear the voices so clearly, and they convey the emotions so well. I feel like anytime Steve Aoki is involved in a BTS track, we get solid gold sound-wise (Mic Drop!). Also, welcome aboard the V-appreciation ship.:D He is my bias and that‘s mainly because of his gorgeous voice. Apart from Stigma, my favourite track of his is 4 o‘clock (feat. RM). You should check it out! It took me a few listens to really appreciate it but now it‘s one of my favourite BTS songs. It creates a very unique atmosphere in my mind that I love to revisit.
At SPEAK YOURSELF TOUR IN BRAZIL on the first day (it was two days) JIMIN was a little sick, and his throat was hurting, as always the Brazilian ARMYs always sing everything and loudly at the show, but when THE TRUTH UNTOLD arrived the Brazilian ARMY's they sang so loud and the whole song had a part that JIMIN stopped singing and let the audience sing for him alone and he started to cry a lot. On the second and last day of the show, JIMIN spoke about why he was crying and thanked us for the ARMYS in Brazil singing with them and said he would never forget that moment, and said he was cured. (on the second day JIMIN and JUNGKOOK cried a lot at the end of the show) There are fancans from the first day it is very beautiful and the stadium is all singing and the moment that Jimin lets the audience sing for him, and suddenly he starts to cry. BTS has come to Brazil 4 times and they always have good memories here and they love the energy, they love doing shows here. THE TRUTH UNTOLD is a very special song. 💜 BRAZIL HOPE 💜

You should really get into less popular BTS songs they have a lot of meaningful emotional lyrics that really do hit hard, you should check out 00:00, when I read the lyrics to that song I bawled, I really needed that at the time they gave me hope when I was feeling very very down.
Also I know you say you prefer more stuff from the vocal line but you should really really check out some songs from the rap line I find their lyrics to be the best. I'm not a rap person I mean I enjoy it sometimes but I'm not really into it much but the rap line from BTS I could listen to them all day to me they are GOD TIER! Their energy and chemistry when they perform together is out of this worl, please check out Tear live performance, the way Hobi snapped there, the raw emotions they display every time they perform it live I guarantee you it's gonna hit you hard, I've cried to that performance and it's a rap performance I usually just cry at ballads so it was very shocking to me.
For more vocal line excellent vocals you should 100% check out House of Cards, their delivery is stunning and their harmonies are perfect.

Something that will probably make you more emotional: jimin sings the line "I must hide because I am ugly" and this is very emotional coming from jimin especially because he used to starve himself because he thought he was fat and the nickname mochi started because during debut days he had very pail skin and big cheeks and he took it the wrong way and thought people were calling him fat which is something he is alre5very insecure about

This is my absolute favorite vocal line song and it makes me want to cry every time I hear it. The boys tend to cry when they sing it, too, I've heard. I'm sure that there are several comments talking about the story behind the song, but the truth is, BTS made up the story, too. You could say that it's a sad take on the Beauty and the Beast legend, where instead of falling in love, the girl dies. RM wrote this song and they created the "legend" that it's based on to emphasize the importance of loving yourself. The story about the flower was spread on the internet by a supposed florist that went searching for the flower in the story and found it. He had heard about the flower and the story from an Italian woman and BTS even created an Instagram and FB page for the flower shop. The thing is, the florist's name translates to "Yourself" and the name of the woman that told him the story translates to "Love". Also, the pink and blue flowers that are in some of the BTS videos are supposed to be the Smeraldo flower. It doesn't actually exist. And, Caitlin, don't worry about your reaction not being energetic. We want you to be real, not fake something that you aren't feeling. This is a sad song and it's meant to be sad. You're entitled to your feelings and we respect that. I wish I could give you a hug. Oh, and if you want a happier song, you should go listen to V's solo project, "Sweet Night". It's all in English, so you can just listen to the song and you don't have to react to it unless you want to, but pay attention to the lyrics and DON'T watch the MV for the song. The lyrics actually end up indicating a happy ending, but the images chosen for the MV give it an entirely different, sad feel. If you do watch it, keep in mind that the title of the song, "Sweet Night", indicates a happy time. V asks a question in the song and but it's not actually answered in the song. The answer is the title.
Watching you get teary caused me to get teary and like- I can relate to you cuz I too felt the lyrics on quite a personal level and on top of that the raw emotion you can hear in their voices, especially live... this song truly does hit hard

I saw them on their Love Yourself tour when they came to Canada in 2018 and to say it was overwhelming is an understatement. This song is so amazing because the live version is even better than the recorded one. As the tour went on, they started added adlibs and experimenting with longer, higher notes and harmonization. It was beautiful.

Yesss, their vocals are really good and thank you for appreciating V's soulful voice, waiting for stigma reaction. But Jungkook's adlibs at the same time harmonizing were so good and should be appreciated. Indeed, our main vocalist. As an army, even he is not my bias, I really appreciate his talent as main vocalist of BTS, not only he is the most stable one when it comes to live performances (armys definitely know this) but also, we all know he is doing background vocals of their songs as well the solo songs of other members in their album, almost 80% of harmonization and adlibs for the songs, doing the guide for their songs is just amazing. Also, Jimins voice has really a great tone and a unique one. Also Jin's voice, is really great especially in hjgh notes as well as Jimin. Overall, just want to say the live performance, Jk really nailed it for me.
This is why BTS is different and this is why they have a whole ARMY. Their music speaks to us and for us. They don't speak as an IDOL to Fans, they speak as human to human. As sad as this song is it gives me great strength every time I listen to it. You were so right when you said that it is about being brave enough to put yourself out there in the name of love. The story that inspired this song is in itself a sad story, but it is the message that BTS was sharing with us, being brave and strong and comfortable within our skin to allow ourselves to love others. Also I agree, taehyung has a very unique type of voice. As many ARMYs have described it, his voice is like a warm blanket that surrounds you on a cold winter day and provides you warmth and comfort. I recommend listening to some of his self-produced songs which are not a part of any album like ‘winter bear’, ‘sweet night’, ‘4 o’clock’ and ‘scenery’.

I absolutely love this song. I love all of their emotional songs, even if they make me cry every time. Another really good one was a solo by Jin that he wrote called "Tonight" it's so sweet but so sad, he wrote it after his sugar glider passed away
This was my favourite song when I first became an army because of the vocals and the deep lyrics, it really made me cry. And then I read about the story this song is based off of and I sobbed for days it's so heartbreaking.

I get emotional every time I see or hear this song, but it's one of my favorites. For me, the biggest message in this song is that to fully love a person, you have to accept your flaws and love yourself first. Let go of your insecurities, stop hiding behind that mask and reveal your true self because that’s who you are. It’s what made you who you are. You are not ugly, you are worthy of love.
Caitlin, I would honestly prefer a reaction that isn't forced. This was a beautiful reaction and you don't have to apologize for it and you don't have to make excuses for it. I have to say, Truth Untold is amazing and their performance carries a lot of emotion and sadness. The story of La Citta di Smeraldo is really well portrayed in this.
I was lucky to see them live in their last concert in Brazil and being able to experience this song, specially right after Epiphany was a whole new set of emotions. I was immersed in tears at the moment haha And yes, Tae voice is really out of this world.
Ps: There is a video of the performance they did here and it was really something else. Jimin cried during the performace since he was sick and felt happy thar Army actually sang the whole time with them.

it's really alright to not be 'energetic' or 'funny' when listening to some of their songs, like, when I first heard TTU when it was released I was crying my eyes out. It hit me very personally too, so I understand what you feel. It's been that way for me for quite a few of their songs, there are some I've sobbed to and just stared into space for like 10mins afterwards because I was so exhausted from the emotions it pulled out of me. their music is so amazing, a lot of their songs you most probably will be energetic and stuff listening to but some of their songs will be like this. their diversity is one of my favourite things about them, and both aspects should be shown and appreciated, not just the fun parts!! we will definitely understand if something similar to this video would happen again in the future, so please don't feel insecure or anything about posting these types of videos, for me it just shows an even deeper appreciation of the guys' music and we can all relate to your reaction

"The Truth Untold is based on a short story, 'La Città di smeraldo' that takes place in a small town in Italy in the 1500s-1600s and it's about a man who was considered "ugly and grotesque" that he hid himself away from any human interactions and lived alone in his castle. His only joy was growing flowers in a garden and one night he saw a young woman creep into the garden, steal flowers and leave. He was outraged and stayed up the next evening in hopes of catching her in the act but fell asleep. This went on for some time and eventually realized this nightly ritual was something he was coming to look forward too. One day he gathered up the courage to go into the nearby village where he found the young woman was living in poverty and was using his stolen flowers to make a living. Since he still considered himself ugly, he thought he would work to create a flower that has never been seen before, fill his garden and in turn help the young lady live a better life by selling these rare flowers for a high price. He spent extensive time trying to make this flower and eventually he did, grew enough of them to fill his garden but the woman never returned back. He later learned that she had died during the time he was working and the song is filled with his shame, regret and sorrow about what "could have been" if he had showed himself to her earlier. The boys are often inspired by books, movies, art, etc which in turn inspires some absolutely brilliant songs with stunning visuals but one of the main reasons we love them so much is because of their lyrics and how we can relate to them. I cried so hard during the performance of this at Wembley last year. I'm a Jin stan so having this play straight after Epiphany was hard since I was already so emotional and moved by that performance. Then I got smacked in the face with the Truth Untold and everyone thought Jimin has started crying because he turned around and I just lost it. I went with my friend and we joke about this video she took of me sobbing with our shared rip-off lightstick. Best night of my life though haha

Just letting a song hit you right where you are at in that moment is all we ask for (well, me at least). Or to say it in BTS‘ words: Don‘t put on a smiling mask and go see us. I also really love how the vocal line sounds here. You can hear the voices so clearly, and they convey the emotions so well. I feel like anytime Steve Aoki is involved in a BTS track, we get solid gold sound-wise (Mic Drop!).

At SPEAK YOURSELF TOUR IN BRAZIL on the first day (it was two days) JIMIN was a little sick, and his throat was hurting, as always the Brazilian ARMYs always sing everything and loudly at the show, but when THE TRUTH UNTOLD arrived the Brazilian ARMY's they sang so loud and the whole song had a part that JIMIN stopped singing and let the audience sing for him alone and he started to cry a lot. On the second and last day of the show, JIMIN spoke about why he was crying and thanked us for the ARMYS in Brazil singing with them and said he would never forget that moment, and said he was cured. (on the second day JIMIN and JUNGKOOK cried a lot at the end of the show)
There are fancans from the first day it is very beautiful and the stadium is all singing and the moment that Jimin lets the audience sing for him, and suddenly he starts to cry.
BTS has come to Brazil 4 times and they always have good memories here and they love the energy, they love doing shows here.
