- Philips VR253/55, manufactured in 1993.
I received a new parcel. There's a VCR inside. I bought it for 150 hryvnia (that’s only 4 dollars). Includes: Philips VCR, 2 VHS films, remote control, instructions, wires.
This Philips VCR is from 1993. Its model is called VR253/55. This is a very old device, so it is partially faulty. The front panel moves (there is play), the door for receiving the cassette is broken. Rewind doesn't work. Today we will try to correct these shortcomings and restore functionality to this VCR from the 90s.
This VCR is from 1993. Philips made a decent device that still works properly (after a little maintenance).
I installed the cassette door in place and you can see all the details in this video.
Thank you for watching my videos.

The mechanism is JVC with Philips heads.
I did lots of repairs on these things

I've seen these "NTSC playback" VCRs before. Now, do they play PAL format tapes or not?
They play both as we used to have one in our home.😢
Great video keep your mode switche clean out everything proven dirty mode switches causes problem's with VCR players not play at all or sometimes it starts eat tapes
Sometimes these just need mode switch cleaning a dirty mode switch can cause tape eating and weird playback problems
I clean the head drum and all the parts of the tape drive mechanism.
