What an awesome insight into pellet waggler fishing and the behaviour of different pellets when oiled or straight out the bag. Thank you so much. You both are awesome with your knowledge and tips. Tight Lines
This pellet waggler thing is really interesting. First of all, I am doing it on a gravel mine/quarry pit, in deep water (at least 4 meter and deeper). It works really well in the nice weather from mid Spring to early Autumn specially when you can see the fishes jumping out of the water. Do not want to question anything we saw here, but the fishes on the lake where I do this method do not really come to the absolute surface. I am usually starting at 150-180 cm (5-6 feet) and shallowing up until around 120 cm. I hook a few right after the wag and pellet landing, but I found out that I have more bites after around 30 seconds. I usually use catapult 2 times after a cast, with about 10 secs diff. I have not seen anyone else doing this method, so I can say the fishes are not really used to this. I have tried to do the very active way, cast - catapult - get out - catapult - cast, so about 3 casts/minute, but I slow down because the fishes more likely stay deeper and the pellet should have time to sink at the proper depth. Anyway this is the most enjoyable way of fishing for me besides the pole fishing for barbel in a big river.
@@lLpiero lehető legkisebbet. 5gr-tol van sorban majdnem mindegyikből, tán csak 9gr hiányzik. Leggyakrabban a 6gros kerül a botra.
Legjobbakat!

There is one very good point in this video and I first heard it from the great Tommy Pickering during one of his presentations, 'don't sit on a bad cast'. I always remember it but have certainly been guilty in the past of leaving it longer than I should.
I always use a greased line when using wafters to slow the line sinking, i'm convinced this keeps the line taught be interesting to see what it actually looks like under water, maybe thats a further test you would be interest in trying
I've stopped the pellet spin by drilling them through the middle, end to end with 8mm/11mm pellets then hair rigging them. If they do spin they won't tumble end over end, but spin like a record on a Technics 12/10. Around and around. lol
I think the 2 bits I will really take is 1 ,, concentrate on the best cast as possible ,,, and 2 I will NOT oil my pellets or at at least the hookbaits so they sink slower .. brilliant eye opener ..thanks
Wafters and pellet fed alternatively or together may be productive .on short hook length for wafter. That would be my take on it . ?? Appears to give you more choice also as you can switch baits .
I love float fishing .. most of my fish come from the bottom .. but when I fire ground bait out & shorten my float so it’s 15 inch to my hook I catch loads of roach quickly ..
Would your choice of hook link affect the fall rate of the pellet, The go to Fluorocarbon hook link is naturally faster sinking than a pre stretched line so does the line pull the pellet down? Many thanks on a great video.
Hi. Great video. But , couldn't you pick a more sunny day for this video so you could make very visible footage? Although , i have a question regarding the twitching. if you put a quick change swivel couldn't we resolve the spinning problem?
We can plan for everything except the weather, we book rob and Jamie in weeks in advance as they have a lot of commitments, Then we just have to go with it.
@@ifishmatrix I understand. Didn't knew booking them could be so complicated . All in all , good work , i've now saw that i didn't fish correctly , and i definitely learned a lot from this video. Thumbs up!
I know it's counter to logic & does using a floating line for the hook length make any difference, or maybe straight through with a floating main line even?
Very good incite. I love this style of fishing, lost a rod or 2 being ripped out me hands on the plop lol. I cant catch in open water but next to reeds, island etc fantastic. What breaking strain of line and Hooklink .....would u fish str8 through to hook?
Really agree with all the findings but .... why not a standard artificial pellet instead of a wafter? It has the right sort of bouyancy with the increased visibility.
What is the fall rate? For 8mm over 3ft please... As the time from feedong to picking up rods then castings must be 2 mins... if the feed is all ready pass the fall rate of 8mms then the hook bait will be sitting they alone?? Thoughts please???
@@richardbedford169 We covered the sink rate of pellets fed via a catapult in a previous episode of Submerged. The best thing to do, is to bait your hook, have the rod ready to cast, feed, then cast straight away. Rather than feed, pick your rod up, bait it up etc. Here's the link to the last episode - ruclips.net/video/QJhY0bcrIVc/видео.html
A couple of slow turns of the reel are all that is needed after a few seconds of feeding again, sudden movement is unnatural when it's carp.Good video though.
It would be possible to film, but wouldn't give an accurate view, as there would be no fish involved. We have to trade off lots of fish, for water clarity. The venues have to be like tap water, and unfortunately this doesn't mix with lots of fish eating bait! On a commercial fishery there would be lots of fish eating this bait throughout the day. We're just trying to help you catch more of them :)
Why? Rob is sponsored by neither company, he's just the best at what he does which is why we're so lucky to have him give his time to help film these series. The videos are not for promotion of products or the brand, we all just love to learn from them and hopefully help everyone see a different side to fishing.
What’s with the hat? I was keeping warm as it was actually quite chilly having just got out. BTW Leonardo make military helicopters mate so it’s absolutely not commercial, just practical. Lol
interesting film but i would disagree that twitching doesn't work to catch carp.it may not behave in the way you think but the amount of times I've had a bite just after twitching it has to be more than coincidence.
Jamie didn't say it didn't work, but on percentages a cast gives a better fall and more chance of a bite so to be as effective as possible you're better to recast than twitch.
Fished Aston Eyre fishery last week. Lots of fish up in the water so I tried the pellet waggler, feeding 8mm and 6mm pellets. I only caught on Bait Tech criticals wafters. No bites whatsoever on 6mm or 8mm pellets. All bites came in the top 6 inches of water. Don't discount wafters, Jamie is wrong on this one.
I’m planning on giving this a go at the weekend - hopefully it’ll not be too cold a day!

I occasionally get one just letting the bait hang for 10/20 seconds if no bite feed wind in feed again cast into feed
Another eye opener from the Hughes Boys. So many questions answered. Brilliant again.
Iv just bought a pellet waggler rod going to try it with corn some huge Rudd on my local
just stumbled accross this video, I've learnt more on this than the other 20+ I've watched!

Great video. I think a wafter is a good bait when used on a shorter hooklength.
Be a good switch bait possibly
It’s brilliant to see what happens under the water when you cast floats etc
Great video! I wonder if twitching the waggler has a different more worthy effect on a shorter hooklength at a shallower depth say 2ft?
Great information gents. Thank you 🙏
Always love these underwater videos, we learn so much.
Jamie giving away what he already knew. One of the best match anglers around.

Entertaining and educational video, well presented. Thanks!
very interesting rob and jamie very good filming aswell thank you both
Love this vid it's one of them, do we as Fishermen/women get it right as to what we think is happening to what is really happening 😁 love it mate 👍👍
Fantastic video again complete eye openers love the concept thanks again Matrix team
Excellent video as always. Very interesting and that brolly in the water 🤣
i do it this way:
catapult the pellets, than
just cast 1-2 metres further and reel it in on the sinking pellets .
perfect presentation .
Very good video again guys . But I always cast past my feeding area and bring it back in ..
Eye opener lads thanks🏃♂️🐟🐟
