Unfortunately this is part and parcel of how they market themselves and earn that sweet $$. It's the same with K-pop groups, for example. They're marketed and told by their companies to act a certain way in order to attract fans, so when things spiral out of control with obsessive fans, it's kind of a given :/ Not saying they deserve it, not at all, it's messed up, but this is also what they capitalise on. Same story with VTuber, as we're now seeing.
It pretty much is a slightly tamer idol culture with parasocial idiots worshipping them. The talents themselves are actors and playing a character with some of their real life selves shown, but only as much as they want to share or show. Many of them even acknowledge some of the stuff they do is cringe, but the extreme parts of the fandom won't get the joke and will lose their mind (and it has happened) if they discover the person behind the avatar has a boyfriend/girlfriend or a life outside of vtubing. I've noticed with the big companies in particular like hololive parallels with kpop and jpop culture.

@aceofpurity the "vocaloids" don't make the music, the vocals you hear are actually a software/a tool for real musicians and song writers to use and make said music- that can then later on be set for the vocaloid characters (the 3d anime models) to perform on stage. It's a huge huge effort of dozens upon dozens of people making it happen. These concerts cost a lot of money. Most Vtuber concerts also have groups upon groups of people behind them. Vtuber corporations have the resources to make them similar to vocaloid concerts with the 3d avatar performing on stage genuinely live to an audience while behind the scenes the person behind the avatar performs also in real time. These concerts are usually priced (from what I have seen) $40-$90 roughly. SOME vtuber "concerts" aren't as big and are just the regular avatar models performing how they normally would streaming but as far as I know any concerts like that have been 100% free.

I don't have a problem with vtubing itself, cos it's actually a really cool method to show yourself without having to use your camera. My problem with it is that in 99% of cases, it's used to create fake, high pitched, anime women/man who are there for the sole purpose of sex-appeal and simps. People who use normal models, dont fake their voices and personality, are actually no different from just classic webcame streams, which is what vtubing originally was intended to achieve.

Thing is, at Miku concerts there is most times a live band on stage. Sure, there is a panel with a character dancing but people are cheering for the live performers. The experience is just so much more worth it taking into consideration the effort of the musicians and the skill that goes into setting up the hologram and the light show than just displaying a stiff vtuber on an lcd screen.
I've only been to one vtuber concert, I used to think it's dumb too, I still think the eyes reveal one is dumb, but... There was this vtuber that I'd watch for fun. He's not too much of a try hard, in fact he did work really hard. A bit too hard. I didn't plan to go to his concert then, but then he was graduating so I did It was actually pretty fun and heartwarming, and I realised that maybe I shouldn't judge people for you know cheering for pixels on a screen

Im sure youve already got comments about this, and while i mostly agree with this video lol the concert at 5:40 isnt a vtuber, its a vocaloid. the concerts have a live band, and the characters seen have voice banks used by real producers to make songs with their vocals

All the 'fake things' they do when they speak is so incredibly embarrassing, the fake giggles, stutters, those scream kinda thing they do (Like when they want to act embarrassed) let alone the faked voice are just... painful. Edit: I originally made this comment lightheartedly, because I assumed everyone here had similar opinion, but since there seems to be some people offended by my comment I'd like to clarify some things: I do not have anything against V-tubers or PNG-tubers as a whole, I think it's great they can express themselves without having to share their face. I do, however, have something against V-tubers who fake everything about themselves, one thing is using a digital appearance, another is forcing your voice, expressions and personality. I understand many V-tubers play a character, however, even when they do so, they aren't changing who they are, their expressions and personality is still genuine. It's similar to the same dilemma we've had on the internet for over a decade; Anonymity. When you're capable of making up an entirely new person that you can act like, it's important you're able to tell what's real and what's not. I don't think it's a good thing that virtually anyone on the planet could become anyone they want, whether that's an anime character that looks and sounds like they're 9 or if it's a flamingo with a hat. Some V-tubers, such as the ones shown in this video, fake their voice, expressions, reactions and personality, that's where I draw the line, the lengths people would go to to defend these people scare me, considering you don't really know anything about them, anything you believe to be true could very easily be made up. Another thing I'd like to point out, is that if you were to have a normal person, with a normal face cam and a normal voice, who acted like these streamers did, we all know it wouldn't go well, they would very quickly be pointed out as creepy or some other derogatory term. My biggest problem with these forms of streams, are the fact that I can see all over the internet, that there are thousands of young people that go absolutely crazy over these streamers. I have known multiple people who expressed a concerning amount of like for a virtual model. A lot of these streamers are, very openly, sexual, if those streamers make that clear, (Either by a disclaimer or an 18+ filter), I don't personally bother to have an opinion on it, if you're over 18 and decide to watch them for those purposes then you do you. I don't think it's ok that you're able to stream with a sexual character or practically moan into the microphone, and people will just write it off as normal. Some people have said it's the same as acting or voice acting, it's not, for starters when an actor or voice-actor does this job, it is very obvious that they are playing a role, a lot of these streamers act like their faked person is the real them, no one actually talks like an anime character, no one actually laughs like that, no one actually expresses their frustration like that. Call me conservative, but this is my opinion, if any of you have counterpoints or want to argue with me in replies, feel free to do so, but don't go attacking me personally because of my opinions, use proper arguments please, (Insults are not arguments). I support anyone who wants to stream using a V-tube or PNG model, however, I also strongly believe any live entertainer should still show who they really are, not fake everything about themselves.
For someone with immune system problems, she sure does streams very frequently and easily - something that even her own fanbase finds pretty controversial. Not to mention the eagerness to spend thousands of dollars, on frequently changing 3d models - which are known to be expensive. Pretty reckless spending for someone who should be having very expensive medical bills to pay. People speculate it's just a character backstory for pitty.

I'm not a fan of iron mouse but from research I've done their condition makes them really easily sick when coming in contact with the outside and catching illnesses from people, this of course makes it impossible for them to go outside or even be in contact with others outside. Whether they're bed ridden sometimes and other times not (not really any of our business anyways) diseases aren't uniform and iron mouse is no exception imo.

I used to watch shoto. I thought he was a great vtuber. But overtime, his avatar and his behavior just got more and more influenced to what the fans want (not sure about this part), and seeing him wearing the dog ears, the barking, the weird things that made me uncomfortable...I lost it. I can't stand vtubers anymore. And this video at the shoto portion really made me stand with my point. I am losing my shit. I died inside, most likely flipped inside out suffering watching this video. Not saying that he's a horrible person, i don't know if he's still like this (i hope he's not). But of course, this is just my opinion and experience. Again, not saying to those shoto fans that i'm deeming him as a bad person, its just that his content does not sit right with me. It pretty much is a slightly tamer idol culture with parasocial idiots worshipping them. The talents themselves are actors and playing a character with some of their real life selves shown, but only as much as they want to share or show. Many of them even acknowledge some of the stuff they do is cringe, but the extreme parts of the fandom won't get the joke and will lose their mind (and it has happened) if they discover the person behind the avatar has a boyfriend/girlfriend or a life outside of vtubing. I've noticed with the big companies in particular like hololive parallels with kpop and jpop culture.

Most definitely a mistake since Steven doesn’t know what vocaloid is, but these vtuber concerts are terrible
Unlike vtubers, vocaloid singers actually make music so performing a concert is fine since many actually enjoy that genre
@aceofpurity the "vocaloids" don't make the music, the vocals you hear are actually a software/a tool for real musicians and song writers to use and make said music- that can then later on be set for the vocaloid characters (the 3d anime models) to perform on stage. It's a huge huge effort of dozens upon dozens of people making it happen. These concerts cost a lot of money.
Most Vtuber concerts also have groups upon groups of people behind them. Vtuber corporations have the resources to make them similar to vocaloid concerts with the 3d avatar performing on stage genuinely live to an audience while behind the scenes the person behind the avatar performs also in real time. These concerts are usually priced (from what I have seen) $40-$90 roughly.
SOME vtuber "concerts" aren't as big and are just the regular avatar models performing how they normally would streaming but as far as I know any concerts like that have been 100% free.

I don't have a problem with vtubing itself, cos it's actually a really cool method to show yourself without having to use your camera. My problem with it is that in 99% of cases, it's used to create fake, high pitched, anime women/man who are there for the sole purpose of sex-appeal and simps. People who use normal models, dont fake their voices and personality, are actually no different from just classic webcame streams, which is what vtubing originally was intended to achieve.

Thing is, at Miku concerts there is most times a live band on stage. Sure, there is a panel with a character dancing but people are cheering for the live performers. The experience is just so much more worth it taking into consideration the effort of the musicians and the skill that goes into setting up the hologram and the light show than just displaying a stiff vtuber on an lcd screen.

All the 'fake things' they do when they speak is so incredibly embarrassing, the fake giggles, stutters, those scream kinda thing they do (Like when they want to act embarrassed) let alone the faked voice are just... painful.
Edit: I originally made this comment lightheartedly, because I assumed everyone here had similar opinion, but since there seems to be some people offended by my comment I'd like to clarify some things:
I do not have anything against V-tubers or PNG-tubers as a whole, I think it's great they can express themselves without having to share their face. I do, however, have something against V-tubers who fake everything about themselves, one thing is using a digital appearance, another is forcing your voice, expressions and personality.
I understand many V-tubers play a character, however, even when they do so, they aren't changing who they are, their expressions and personality is still genuine.
It's similar to the same dilemma we've had on the internet for over a decade; Anonymity.
When you're capable of making up an entirely new person that you can act like, it's important you're able to tell what's real and what's not. I don't think it's a good thing that virtually anyone on the planet could become anyone they want, whether that's an anime character that looks and sounds like they're 9 or if it's a flamingo with a hat.
Some V-tubers, such as the ones shown in this video, fake their voice, expressions, reactions and personality, that's where I draw the line, the lengths people would go to to defend these people scare me, considering you don't really know anything about them, anything you believe to be true could very easily be made up.
Another thing I'd like to point out, is that if you were to have a normal person, with a normal face cam and a normal voice, who acted like these streamers did, we all know it wouldn't go well, they would very quickly be pointed out as creepy or some other derogatory term.
My biggest problem with these forms of streams, are the fact that I can see all over the internet, that there are thousands of young people that go absolutely crazy over these streamers. I have known multiple people who expressed a concerning amount of like for a virtual model. A lot of these streamers are, very openly, sexual, if those streamers make that clear, (Either by a disclaimer or an 18+ filter), I don't personally bother to have an opinion on it, if you're over 18 and decide to watch them for those purposes then you do you.
I don't think it's ok that you're able to stream with a sexual character or practically moan into the microphone, and people will just write it off as normal.
Some people have said it's the same as acting or voice acting, it's not, for starters when an actor or voice-actor does this job, it is very obvious that they are playing a role, a lot of these streamers act like their faked person is the real them, no one actually talks like an anime character, no one actually laughs like that, no one actually expresses their frustration like that.
Call me conservative, but this is my opinion, if any of you have counterpoints or want to argue with me in replies, feel free to do so, but don't go attacking me personally because of my opinions, use proper arguments please, (Insults are not arguments).
I support anyone who wants to stream using a V-tube or PNG model, however, I also strongly believe any live entertainer should still show who they really are, not fake everything about themselves.

@@meganoobbg3387Speculation or not, it's important to realize that not everyone with an auto immune disease is a 24/7 bed ridden individual. I'm not a fan of iron mouse but from research I've done their condition makes them really easily sick when coming in contact with the outside and catching illnesses from people, this of course makes it impossible for them to go outside or even be in contact with others outside. Whether they're bed ridden sometimes and other times not (not really any of our business anyways) diseases aren't uniform and iron mouse is no exception imo.

I used to watch shoto. I thought he was a great vtuber. But overtime, his avatar and his behavior just got more and more influenced to what the fans want (not sure about this part), and seeing him wearing the dog ears, the barking, the weird things that made me uncomfortable...I lost it. I can't stand vtubers anymore. And this video at the shoto portion really made me stand with my point. I am losing my shit. I died inside, most likely flipped inside out suffering watching this video.
Not saying that he's a horrible person, i don't know if he's still like this (i hope he's not). But of course, this is just my opinion and experience. Again, not saying to those shoto fans that i'm deeming him as a bad person, its just that his content does not sit right with me. Or any vtuber to begin with. Most probably influenced by the many people that see vtubers as a trap for "discord mods" which gives me an ick.

Sure there aren't really conventional work hours, but she's expressed how much of each day it takes up for her
