Leather Crafting Tutorial - Elf Bag

  • For all the tree and nature lovers a great addition. You can wear it on you belt or with a shoulder strap. Add little detailes like mushrooms, flowers and cutouts to really stand out of the masses. It is a simple build but with the mushroom and the cutouts it is a bit more difficult then without.
    Difficulty: medium Tools needed: standard
    Recommended materials
    - 2,5 mm (6 oz) veg. tanned leather
    - ~18 cm (7 inch) of thick soft wire per mushroom
    - 1 closures like pressure button or sam brown rivet
    - 1 pearl round 10 mm (2/5 inch) in diameter
    - 2 D-Rings 19 mm (4/5 inch) optional
    Tools: edge trimmer, cutting knife, burnisher, hole punch, leather carving tools, bone folder, sewing material, diamond shaped chisel, wing divider, glue, rivets
    Size at 100%: 18 x 15 x 7 cm // 7 x 6 x 3 inch

    And how to burn the pattern? The file for the laser plotter is also available?

      Yes, on standard it is not included in the purchase, but I got a laser friendly version ready, just let me know you need one

    Do you wet the leather before laser cutting/engraving?

      Thank you :) I do not wet the leather, very done that before, but I guess you would get a lot of steam and and deformated piece if leather.

    Could you make a little doll or animal out of the soft leather and stuff it with all the hole punches and scraps from bevelling?

      Sounds like an interessting, in theory this would be possible and give all the cut offs some use. I made a pillow once and filled it with small fur scrap pieces that could be used for nothing else and I use it all the time
