I think you'll find that the temperature is not variable. The dial on the side is a timer - the longer it is on the more it melts the plastic, ergo the thicker the bag the longer you need to let it run for.
I viewed because of the 10mm. Thank you for the review. I wanted fo see how the seal finish is and if it was wrinkled or creased and it doesn't appear to be. I think these impulse sealers all come with a standard 2mm element. You can buy the replacement elements and rings as spare parts and are quite cheap.
i have been using a cabelas pro vacuum sealer. it is not getting the job done. my dehydrated eggs packed in 3.5 mil channeled foil bags are losing the seal. the seals have wrinkles. not good after going to all the effort to make powdered eggs! I plan to try one of these to put a secondary seal on my bags after first sealing with the cabelas unit.
Could you post a brand name and a link for the sealer that you are reviewing? I looked on Amazon but could not find one that can perform a 10mm wide seal. Also, what is the mil thickness of the bags you are sealing? Thanks.
I'm having the same issue as the standard sealers all have a 2mm thick element. I don't know which sealer to buy as to accommodate a 8mm thick element. The Mylar bag I'm using is the same as this video which appears to be thicker than the average Mylar bag which are transparent when help up to the light or has one clear side.
I burned my floor hoping that my wife would let me get an impulse sealer...she slapped me and said not to do it again. I told her that I wouldn't. You have any other ideas?
Love the opening comment about the kitchen floor.

Think I'll stick with the vacuum sealer. Thanks for the review.
