      I'd love to see you share the stage with guys like Brad Paisley and Doyle Bramhall II. You seem to have access to the kind of styles that would mix well with either one of them. Or both. ;)
      Maybe a Clapton's Crossroads Festival in your future?

    I love Josh's comment about Bonamassa at 1:05:06. I never understood why people suddenly thought it was cool to hate on him. It has always struck me as incredibly disrespectful to a musician who has very clearly poured endless hours into mastering their craft, which Joe continues to do.

    • @aidanpinder7106
      @aidanpinder7106 6 лет назад +5

      People hate on him because of the massively disrespectful comments he made about people that use pedals, and how he clearly cant appreciate that music is art and it doesn't matter how you create it. I think it's pretty sad that he felt the need to say stuff like that really.

    • @fossilmatic
      @fossilmatic 6 лет назад +10

      So, Bonamassa has an opinion. Like the rest of us. Except he plays as well as he plays.... Just another guitarist musician, really.

    • @Murry_in_Arizona
      @Murry_in_Arizona 6 лет назад +5

      Yeah I keep seeing and hearing about "Joe's comments" about pedals but have yet to find a link to the actual comments and/or in what context these comments were made. I must of seen a half dozen RUclips videos made on the subject yet to see one that sourced it.

    • @jackk9366
      @jackk9366 6 лет назад +7

      Honestly though, I think it also has something to do with his music. I am not trying to be inflammatory. He is a great guitar player. But playing the blues through 10s of thousands of dollars of gear and singing lyrics that are really overdone to sound "bluesy" seems a bit cheesy. I dunno. Maybe its just me.

    • @GregDaviesguitarist
      @GregDaviesguitarist 6 лет назад +4

      No one hated on Joe on his way up, now he’s selling out arenas he’s soulless & can’t possibly play blues... It’s the human condition. Jealousy.

    Josh. Kirk. Joe. Derek. These guys are the modern day Clapton. Jimi. Beck. Duane. The guys that floor you, the guys that inspire you. It’s super cool to see how down to earth Josh is. Thanks Captain.

      I got turned on to teles a few years ago when I went to a guitar store to buy a strat. I tried several strats before the sales guy said "try this tele." Long story short, I walked out the shop with a tele. Now I have three of them. :)

  • @sdkdrummer
    @sdkdrummer 5 лет назад +4

    Bill Chapin makes the most incredible Tele's I've ever seen. He used to live around here and we've done countless jams together. I've played Tele things where he's used different woods and put all manner of pickups and switching systems into and all have been magic. He has some sort of inate sense of how the thing works and just what part of a wood blank should be used. And as Josh shows, he can adapt, adjust or just make his own of whatever part needs to be there to make the whole thing work. There are builders who can turn out reliably good guitars, but very few you can count on to make each one be one of those special magic instruments that just works right.

    What can one say - Josh Smith is one bad man!! Watching this video was as good as hanging out with a top notch musician and having them pull back the curtain on their secrets. Also, it is obvious how much hard work he has put into all his playing and gear. Capt'n Lee - Well Done That Man, keep up the good work and for staying out of Josh's way to let him talk! This is why we need to hang out and learn from great musicians and not just wood shed at home by ourselves!
