As eccentric as Rippy's naming conventions may be, you've got to hand it to him - AoE2's OST is one of the most memorable and "hummable" in all of gaming.
Aoe2 was my first video game, and I remember the soundtrack was the main reason I fell in love with this game. I started playing when i was 4 years old and 11 years later I am still playing it, and still enjoying it now. When I am playing new games like battlefield 4 with its steroid filled gameplay it still is not as fun as Age of empires. Honestly I might still be playing Aoe2 when I am 80.
Did any of you use to play online on Voobly? It's the best AOE gaming community. While gaming on Voobly is really an amazing experience but I must warn you that it is also highly addictive as well. So if you not self-disciplined, then must not try to play on Voobly. =)
It's awesome how they ordered these songs to be appropriate to every stage of the game, starting on the loneliness of Dark Age, to intensive battles further on.

AoE 3 has nothing at all on this game. On 3 it's just beat each other into the ground again and again and again. On AoE 2 you can do that, but you can also collect Relics, build wonders etc. Just makes for a much fuller gaming experience and I love it! Who cares about graphics? Gameplay still holds up for me!
AoC3 felt like a "quantity" game. The wars where supposed to feel bigger, and the age setting couldn't keep the same mechanics. It's a good game after all.

When both you and your opponent in a 1v1 is in at least castle age, rocking Knights or Xbows or whatever your military comp is, both forces about to meet on the field of battle.
@@NickSalvation I respectfully disagree. I don't feel the remastered ost is a good replacement to be fair, but it's still relatively faithful in the arrangements. The instrumentation is a bit off, but that's to be expected from adapting decades old midis. I like the new ost as a side companion piece to the original AoE2 ost
The Average AOEII player should here these soundtracks atleast 4 timesper game because the average game last 2 hours and the full soundtrack is about 30 minutes long.

As of 2024 the series as a whole is absolutely thriving with every game having been remastered and officially supported with new content added regularly there was a new 4th game released and as of this age of mythology retold is soon to be released... AoE has endured and stood the test of time in a way few other games could.
Wow... this brings back incredible memories... of epic campaigns, intense battles , grand castles, and more. Congratulations, AOE2; for being the definition of an amazing RTS. BTW, the soundtrack is awesome.
