I've started running into happiness issues recently as well in my main city, for the exact same reasons: having so many pumpkins, etc. that my other buildings create, which help tremendously with attack, etc. but lower happiness a ton, especially when you're talking about dozens of buildings. And for anyone whose happiness IS a real concern, always remember to keep your roads up-to-date in terms of era, for the greatest happiness boost possible. When your city gets large enough, it can make a surprisingly big difference.
It's been a relief to have at least one metric in the game that I can leave broken and not worry about it (for now). I notice the Jan 2024 event has a lot of happiness buff in the special buildings; so I'm not sure if this is a sign of things to come. Great suggestion on roads, I forgot to mention that.
Timely vid as I too had noticed an increase in the arrival of buildings with negative happiness. Never really appreciated that over time happiness becomes less and less significant as you age up; I,ve been trapped in the mindset of earlier ages where a lack of happiness affects your city. 'My' solution was to build an Atom in combination with my Traz both of which provide passive happiness but I needn't have worried. Oh well, have them in my city now so alls well. Thanks for sharing 🙏

Also what's great for 'make enthusiastic' quests you can just buy that in the Tavern for some silver.

Correct, and related to coins and goods its only on tech tree production buildings no special buildings. So it's mostly not a thing these days.
