Noisy great spotted woodpecker nest

Sound on and watch til the end!
It was the noise that caused my partner and I to stop and take a look at this dead tree.
Watch this video to see (and hear!) great spotted woodpecker chicks being fed by the male (identifiable by the patch of red feathers on the back of his head).
If we hadn't decided to investigate the strange noise, we would have missed this lovely springtime encounter. So, if you hear anything unusual, it's always worth checking it out.
I captured the footage and images on a walk around the Gartcosh Nature Reserve in May 2024 using my OM-1 and M.Zuiko 100-400mm lens handheld. I filmed from a respectable distance using my long lens to avoid disturbing the birds.
