When one hears Diane Bish play the organ one is hearing the voice of God coming through this astonishing lady, who has devoted her entire life to music.
Diane, your absolute support of the greatest instrument continues to thrill and challenge me to new heights in my endeavors. My eyes are filled with tears for the Nimrod. Kind regards, Douglas Gunderson organ, piano, viola, guitar, recorders, voice and poet.
That is an absolutely amazing music. I remembered hearing it at my church where I attended when I was in my youth and young adult. I surely miss hearing that type of music at church these days.
I think this is played and registered well. I just cannot get excited about that particular organ, though. I've actually been there and heard it live. Dunno if it is even used anymore. Great for funerals, though!
am I the only one who hears the distorted tempo? And also she raised and lowered the volume pedal everytime it seems she made a mistake, she also prolonged and even doubled a few measure' s duration in order to hide what seems to be the moments where she lost focus and got lost and extended the measure' s duration in order to buy time to recall what follows. ...
She's done several things to this piece. I know this like the blood in my veins. Too slow, too much here, not enough there. I didnt like it one bit. She is supposed to be very talented. I do not know her. That being said, this was not good at all.
One of Bach's pieces is very similar to the opening bars of Hey Jude -about 10 years ago I went to a wedding in the local cathedral where live classical music was played and one of the pieces sounded like Hey Jude -afterwards I went up to one of the musicians and said to her "you played a bit of the Beatles in that piece and she replied -I think Bach was there a couple of hundred years before! I don't know if you remember the 60's song called "The lover's concerto" That song was based on a piece once thought to be by Bach and now attributed to Stozel.(Whoever he was.)
I think the song BIST DU BEI MIR is now considered to be by Stozel and once considered to be by J S Bach.Bist du bei mir and the Lover's concerto theme(minuet) were discoverd in the Notebook of Anna Magdalena Bach -the latter was bach's 2nd wife and she prepared a little book with little examples of music in it intended to teach her children. The musical examples in this book were once considered to be by J S Bach himself but now scholars consider them to be by others.
I really thought I was going to enjoy this. I didnt at all. This was horrible. And before any of you numbnuts start in on me. I am a musician, I play. I know this song by heart, note for note. She was off time. She missed note. She changed keys when she shouldnt have. Toward the end, she completely lost me, in her rendition. I was really let down by this performance on that beautiful organ.
... Diane Bish is a great organist, as far I've seen and watched...; but... what happened here?... not her best rendition, not her best performance, piece, moment...; fully forgiven, but... I 'almost' in agreement with bull baloney (below); I didn't like this interpretation; and I think objectively it is a bad rendition by her; she can do it far better.

Pure perfection 🙏 Thank You!
Beautiful song. One of my favorites.

My wedding in June 29, can’t wait to hear this beauty 🥰
this song is nice, but Ich steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe,
means I have one foot in the grave
Ich steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe is the song name
This piece always makes me cry, and I'm not a crying guy. But there is something in these notes that touch my heart.
I saw Diane Bish Play in New Haven around 2011, and it was a very special concert and she made very good use of the organ in Woolsey Hall.
God Bless Diane Bish
*And to Johann Sebastian Bach.*
¡¡¡MÚSICA QUE CONQUISTA EL ALMA!!! GRACIAS bishfan
A wonderful, sensitive performance.
Her technique is off the charts
That was very moving. Thank you.
BEAUTIFUL SONG!😲
the whole world must sleep at night listening
"J.S.Bach: Arioso"
and wake up in the morning listening
"J.S.Bach: Arioso"
great!
Amazing. I enjoyed listening to the Arioso. Our chamber group is beginning to play it.
Lindo! Maravilhoso! Edificante! Eleva a alma!
Arioso de J.S Bach é uma verdadeira perfeição musical.
Great Inspiring music !🎓👑🥂🍾
sounds like the virgil fox arrangement.... I love how she gave that little piece of History before she played... makes it that much more special.

She is using the Virgil Fox arrangement, I think.

Yes

It's HEY JUDE by the Beatles!!!!
NO, It is ... A Paler Shade of White... Procol Haram :)

Como asi por DIOS, no se puede confundir a BACH
Yes ! It was by The Toys but it was pure Bach ... or are you saying that modern scholarship now attributes it to Stölzel ??

Mah
Virgil was better on this arrangement. It was more clear in its voice
no, voice of God is quite a bit more gentle
Totally agree - it's bloody awful.
Wrong. It's totally fabulous.
Her playing lacks soul.

Not wanting to sound like a numbut, but yes I did like it.
BACH transformed to MUSACH.
the genious of mediocracy wanders all around in this "new age" 😉
This sucked. She butchered it.

Does Ms Bish really have to impersonate a drag queen??
No, drag queens impersonate her.
Because that is her style. I look forward to seeing what she's wearing, almost as much as hearing her music
