I don't remember where you lived but will you by chance be attending the Vegas auto show? I can't go but can't wait to see the coverage of the PI vehicle.
I reserved a Telo, 2WD single motor. It would be nice to know if the single motor is FWD or RWD. Weird that the website doesn't say. Do they even know at this point?
The Telo configurator did not seem to show the true total for the higher-end options (AWD & range). Should have been $49,999, but it showed only $42,499.
Wow Telo not charging for color options (site fixed since the video was created); Dark Emerald FTW. +~$9000 for AWD and 90 miles more range is great. I love the idea of me and my wife having Aptera and Telo by 2027. 🤞 PS: Odd that the builder is way under their base price even factoring the tax credit (which absolutely will not exist when they are in production - also I'm 🟥🍁🟥)
If you have a 'blind' spot with your Acura, it is probably because you have your side view mirrors set up incorrectly (something most people do). You should be able to glance back over your shoulder and at best look out the rear passenger window. The rest of the coverage should come from your side view mirror and your rear view mirror. Properly configured, an overtaking car should appear in your side view mirror before it completely disappears from the rear view, and appear when you glance to the side, before it disappears from the side view mirror. If you are sitting normally in the driver's seat and adjusting the side view mirrors so that you can just see the side of the car, you are doing it wrong. Look up various videos on it.
Except that you aren't looking for a car. You should be looking for a motorbike. ALWAYS assume that you are looking for a motorbike when checking your blind spot, they can hide in places that you normally wouldn't expect due to cars not being able to fit between the mirrors. You correctly state that the car should start appearing in the side view mirror before it fully disappears from the rear view, the problem is that this isn't true for bikes. If you get complacent about cars not being able to hide in your blind spot and stop looking over your shoulder, you are going to kill someone someday.
Yeah I see what you're saying. If I look out my side view mirrors I can see just fine. The problem is I have driven nothing but tiny cars up until this point and that area was always just easy to glance at with the naked eye. Side view mirrors were optional since visibility was so good and my other Hondas. Of course I did have them properly positioned and I did use them but it is most natural for me to look back. When I do so the rear pillar behind the passenger seat blocks approximately 7 to 9° of my field of view. That portion of my field of view was not blocked in any car. I phoned up to now. Looking out of that section of the passenger side is just as bad so I am forced to use the mirrors when looking in those sections.
Yeah, I think most of that thought process comes from the fact that the mini Cooper has a gigantic hood. The herd of the mini Cooper takes up almost 2/3 of the vehicle. Since Telo has essentially engineered out the unnecessary engine bay, it should be a relatively comfortable fit, but time will tell.
That could be interesting. It would either be shorter or have a ridiculously long bed for the size. I believe it would be something like 8 and 1/2 to 9 ft for the bed.
Some research is needed on zaptera lawsuit. Who is zaptera? You need to go way back to the first aptera motors company. Aptera participated in the x-prize way back in 2010. There was another entrant called Alias which was built by zap zhejiang jonway company. This appears to be the parent company from which zap and zaptera were formed. Some will remember zap had many different electric scooters etc. What links does zaptera have to the parent company now, I am not sure. But if they still have some link zaptera zhejiang jonway that is by no means a small company, they are still producing motor vehicles. I believe they initially produced ice engine cars, but now have many different electric cars including three wheelers.
Why did zaptera buy the assets and patents of aptera version 1, they already had developed a 3 wheel electric car and saw merit in aptera in some way. A couple of apteras old prototpyes were displayed at a chinese auto expo. So it might be reasonably assumed the assets were shipped off to china, where zap zhejiang jonway are located ( zhejiang is an area west of shanghai full of electric transport manufacturing of all types), very large scale manufacture. Why did they wait so long to put the design patent in the name of zaptera? I have no idea on this, but the design patent is in there name although it was not until recently it was transferred to their name. Is that legal? I have no idea but it is in there name. Does aptera have a design patent on the shape of the vehicle.....nope...they only have a design patent on the rear cowling over the rear wheel.
It may be more accurate to say that this vehicle is the size that trucks would be anyway if regulations hadn't pushed them to become so much larger. The unused space in pickup trucks today is a little ridiculous. The engine bays have more empty space than some smaller four-door cars trunks do. The part of the truck's bed edges are sometimes 1 ft thick when they probably need to be half that. Telo is what happens when you engineer a truck around an EV platform in earnest, and to be honest, it still breaks my brain a bit. If vehicle manufacturers are serious about the EV transition, most vehicles will look like either Telo or Aptera in 10 years time more than likely.
@@theninjineer I agree entirely! Here in New Nealand small trucks are legal and they are all over. Microtrucks are also pretty common especially for businesses.
Based on their choice of lawyers I would say it's unlikely. They read to me like a struggling company who's trying to squeeze a little more money before they end up going out of business. Or they could be trying to breathe new life into their own company if we were to be charitable about their motivations, but I can't be sure. Big oil's fingerprints tend to be very visible at least when it comes to me researching articles that they sponsor in the news.
Thanks for the week in EV news, Jeff!
Thank you for tuning in! :)
I don't remember where you lived but will you by chance be attending the Vegas auto show? I can't go but can't wait to see the coverage of the PI vehicle.
I am in Colorado. I had not planned to go to the Vegas Auto Show. I will check it out to see if it meshes with my schedule.

I don't remember them mentioning it, but that would be great to know.

That is a great point. That price was with the EV tax credit.
@@theninjineer which unfortunately has no chance of existing when telo gets to production given the incoming administration.
You get a tesla Model 3 performance for the price of the Telo toy.
As to Tello- what is the history of FUNDING for this? I've heard but zero on this.
👼💰
So it's a minivan with the third row of seats and the hatchback replaced with a truck bed. Ok...

Thank you for that! It was a little strange that they didn't have any colors. I'm glad they got The color choices up and running.

Eight people in a Mini Cooper size vehicle sounds like a clown car, lol

This writer is wondering if "The Big Three/Oil Magnates' are not behind the scenes directing the lawsuit?

Still no 60 million,
No money soon and it's over and out
I sorta hope Telo also goes down the carbon fiber route as Aptera, just for the ease of manufacturing
That makes sense but is it too late for them to make a change?
It's not carbon fiber, it's carbon pulp, 10x less strong what carbon fibre is when layered
Aptera has left the carbon body route. They now use a standard aluminium frame where the panels are glued on.
That could be pretty interesting. I wonder if they've explored that option...
