I skipped out on Cubase because of the shit bag dongle approach and had I known this about Sonnox, I would not have bought Inflator. Fuck all that noise.

I bought and paid for inflator. Although its just saturation, I do like the UI workflow, however that is cancelled out by the requirement of an online connection for ILOK bs. will happily be using the FP patch over inflator from now on
@Cris yes, almost the same to my ear. enough that I don't use the Sonnox inflator anymore (very laggy when loading, will create errors with ilok when internet connection is unstable) I use this patch instead
@Cris main difference is the "+" version of the patch which allows peaks to go over the threshold requires a lower input level which you don't have to do on the sonnox inflator. I don't use the "+" mode very much though

Paul Frindle who designed the Sonnox Inflator has stated many times that the sonnox inflator was meant to emulate what a tube power amplifier does when pushed hard. He added the clipper as a safety because when the plugin came out hitting ZERO on a DAW channel was a big problem. Its based on a push pull system. Here is Paul's own words on what it does.
"The Inflator very basically speaking is a special kind of 'distortion generator' like a power amplifier circuit that has no dynamic activity over time, in other words it's a static process (i.e. it is not a compressor, limiter or clipper). It is designed to give the impression of loudness by providing the harmonic cues we associate with loud and stressed sounds and increase the harmonic density of the program in a way that is sympathetic to the ear.
The enhance function of the limiter is a special kind of dynamic process that does not add distortion to steady state signals. It works over time, program history, peak and average levels and LR stereo differences to limit the signal and squash peak events, whilst providing the listener with the impression that the peaks are still there! In this way it can sympathetically remove peak events so that you can provide more transparent limiting, or make the program even louder without causing sample value overs.
It is used after the main leveler in the limiter application to allow you to use slower and softer attack times (which sound much more musical - particularly on percussion), without risking clipped sounds or overs due to peak overshoots.
If you select 'safe' mode the enhancer is always actively controlling peaks - and the enhance slider lets you adjust the dynamic action from fairly neutral (where minimum audible differences occur) to full loudness increase (where it might get to sound ropey on some program types).
If you try to use the limiter and the Inflator together you get mixed results depending on the program. Although they have totally different ways of working and provide different effects, they can accentuate the side effects of each other in a way that can be counter productive and end up sounding worse.
Generally putting the Inflator after the limiter (with the limiter's enhance wound up) will not increase the loudness very much before it starts to sound nasty. The reason for this is that the Inflator makes the action of the enhancer more obvious.
Putting the Inflator before the limiter is more successful in producing a grungy sheen to the program, but will not really make it sound that much louder. SO the best settings for the Inflator in this case is with the curve set to in the range from 0 to half way.

FL Studio now has a built-in Pitch Shifter, so I don't know if making a Patcher preset is worth. But thanks for the suggestion!

when i install it what do i do with the "fruity waveshaper" folder that comes with the .zip?
You can simply drop those files in the Fruity WaveShaper preset folder and load them directly from the plugin
Thanks for great patcher presets! If Inflator is "wave shaper" - isn't that similar thing like "expansion" curve in Maximus? Basically expansion curve just add gain to quiet parts of sound, without touching other levels...

this video inspired me a lot to create my own patcher presets.
i was successful to somewhat recreate the input meter (basically the same one in your inflator), but is it possible to create meters each for both input and output at the same time? it seems like if i make a meter for input i can't make another one for output and vice versa. i think i kind of get why patcher is preventing me from doing it but i still wonder if there's any way to do it
i haven't updated my fl studio, maybe that's the problem?

Are your plugins designed to work on all DAWs or is it only for Fruity Loops?
he's using patcher, which is a native FL studio platform that allows you to chain different instruments and effects into complete plugin units aka "patches", it only works in FL Studio.
