You may find this silly, but the reasons you gave for not liking Ophire, actually made me decide I had to try them. I had a gift card burning a hole in my desk so to speak, so I decided to use it. I got three hooks and they came super quick. I have been watching a gal in Vegas preach about how great these hooks were for months and how sweet the inventor of these hooks was. They are a very small company in AZ and there reputation is everything, so she works hard at being helpful and accommodating. So back to the reason that perked my ears in your review. The fact that they are shorter. I have many Ommi hooks and some Furls as well. I love them both. But I do tend to choke up on my hook and I don't like the extra neck length my Furls have. They tend to feel unbalanced, especially the bigger sizes. Another thing I have found is that my Furls, not so much the Ommi are slick. Not really a problem except that my hands dry out so fast and sometimes that can be an issue. I didn't think the Ophire felt plasticky at all, just not as super slick. OPhire is a very new company and they are already doing a collaboration with We Crochet with a new color that is exclusive to them. It is so pretty. Ashlie is on the We crochet video that announced the colab and she could not have been a nicer person. She talked about how the company came about and the reason the hooks are made the way they are. Super interesting. I really o feel like Goldilocks and I have found the right fit in a crochet hook.

Ophire Co. are my go to hooks after my Furls. I too like the longer shaft but I like the Ophire for quicker projects. I like to use them when I travel too. Ashley is such a sweet person too! Well worth supporting her small business. I love that her business is growing so much.
Good Morning. I love 3C’s RUclips channel. Cool Crafty Creations. I’m so sorry that your Alexandrite stone was lost. They are extremely expensive especially if they were purchased in the 60’s & 70’s. I have a long story regarding the same stone, but I will not bore anyone with that. I also prefer a longer crochet hook even though my hands are small. I also tried both of the two hooks and I agree with you, however IMO anyone that prefers a shorter crochet hook should give Ophire a try. Have a wonderful day.
The hook containers look like PVC pipe. I bet that Mr. Cinnamon could figure out what diameter pipe you would need for your hooks and you could go get a pipe at your local Lowe's or Home Depot. I think you could even get the pipe cut up into the right lengths for your hooks. Hmmm... Now I'm thinking I want to do this.
The cases are totally pvc pipe. And the right size cork would fit. I can understand your points about hook length. You've said you have large hands, and I definitely have small hands. You're right the size and shape make a difference in hook use. But do consider asking Mr Cinnamon look into making you longer cases. They will protect your hooks so well when having them out of your carrying case you just got.
I adore these hooks. I bought a 4.5 and it's so delicate in my hand. I want to pick up another few. My hubby got me 2 hooks for my birthday, just got them today. One is a Divit and the other is a Resin wood mix. I can't wait to try them. I really agree with you about the shaft of the hook. I think the Ophire hooks are best for amigurumi because you mostly have single crochet and you don't need that long shaft at that point.

My birthstone is also Alexandrite. I love the color on that hook. My class ring seemed to act like a mood ring. If I was warm it would be a smokey grey green and if I was cool it would be a lavender. I love it.
I haven't had the chance to try a hook with that shape yet, but those hooks look good to me - I need a short shaft because of the way I hold my hook, so I like how the Ophire look more then the Omi or Furls. I wish I could try them, they are so pretty!!

I think the shaft will distort your gauge if you switch between hooks in the same project. Thanks for the review on the Ophire hooks. They are really beautiful ❤
I recently finished buying a full set of the Ommi hooks. The pink swirl hook came in one of the storage tubes that your Ophire hooks came in. I really like the tube.
Jen, When I saw this video I thought wow finally a resin hook that is not to big. But now I have concerns. I am making a baby blanket using a 6.5 metal ergo hook from Michaels. As I crochet I see I am using the entire shaft of the metal hook. I thinking the short shaft might be a problem. The Furls and Ommi hooks are to long to fit in my smaller hands, but I apparently need a at least an inch and half long shaft. I might still get one in the 6.5 size (my favorite) and if I can't use it at least I tried it. As always, thanks for your review.

Some of the protective tube lids come loose. I put a little piece of masking tape around the top piece and they now fit snuggly. I've purchased extra hook tubes to use in my project bags with other hooks 😊

I finally have all 3 brands and have just started comparing them in project use. So the jury is still out on side by side use. All being smooth and round, I'm having trouble with each hook rolling in my fingers as I use them the same way pencils and pens roll in my fingers. For pens and pencils, that isn't a problem. For crochet, it is a nightmare when trying to maintain hook working position. So I am on a search for a solution because the foam makeup things I bought with not fit threw any of the 3 handles. Thus causing hand pain, which requires days of recovery after one day of use. I have small hands and not started testing hook length, but on furls and ommi, my hand seems to slide too far up the head of the hook, adding to hook holding issues. For the ophire and furls, I've compared the hook head design of the furls and ophie but not the ommi yet. I like the shape of the ophire hook working head over the furls. The tip of the ophire has a nice point to the very end of the tip and goes through the stitches easier than the rounder tip of the furls. So far, the furls is splitting every yarn I have tried it with. Which drives me batty from past splitting with other hooks. But I need to do formal testing with each hook side by side yet for each issue. I have 2 sizes of each brand to test. I absolutely adore the cases for the ophire hooks. I need to check if all 3 brands fit in those cases. I have written the size in sharpie on the end of my ophie hooks, and that seems to be staying well with use. My fear is that I've bought 6 hooks that are more expensive than my old 1960s to 80s hooks that I may end up not being able to use. I have some other style "ergonomic " hooks that I need to do testing on also. I'm 75 so working pain is very important to avoid. I will be interested in all of your thoughts!

That's my issue with the Ommi hooks, I have tiny hands so them being long they're cumbersome in my hand. I'm trying to talk my husband into an Amethyst and Alexandrite (mine and his birthstone) for my birthday in 3 weeks.
I just wanted to let you know that I bought 2 Ommi hooks last July through Amazon. One of the hooks came in one of those tubes and the other came in light cardboard packaging. The tube is plastic and it has a woodgrain finish. I checked and they were both from the same seller, ECraft Store, and shipped by Amazon. I don’t know why one had the tube and one didn’t, but maybe Ommi actually has tubes. I might be worth checking into.
I've ordered Ommi hooks based on your rec and a couple of them came in those type of cases as did another brand from Amazon ( I forget the brand) that came in pink tubes
I’m a June baby to Alexandrite birthstone is so hard to find now. My mom bought me a birthstone ring when I was 11 and it’s been long gone, I wish I had it because my mom is gone now it would have been a memory of her. They have other stones they replaced Alexandrite with but it’s not the same, I’m mad at myself for losing it. Also had a daughters pride ring from my mom that I had in my jewelry box because one of the stones fell out we had our house broken into and the jewelry box was stolen with it in the jewelry box, I was devastated to say the least. Two rings that had sentimental value gone.☹️
Okay, now I'm suspicious... I ordered two Ommi hooks a few months ago from Amazon and they came in those containers. They were brown tubes, though and had Ommi Crochet engraved into them. Anyway, i haven't gotten them shipped in those containers since then. Interesting. 🤔
Reference for a crochet hook is Susan Bates, I don’t Care for the heads on the Boye hooks. It seems to me like the boy hooks split the thread more. Of course it might be the way I hold my hooks I don’t know.

I bought some of her "oops" hooks, colors might be a tiny bit messed up. They are cheaper than the regular & she will randomly post them. I didn't care for the feel of the hooks, I just ordered my first ommi, so we'll see❤

The same for me. I have small hands and the length of the furls and ommi is what made me not buy them but the Ophires are perfect for my hand size.
My new diaz hooks came in hot pink tubes like those! I know you said you didn't want to try them, but so far I really like them!

I have never received a tube
Ophire sent me the wrong hook. A few of the hooks had hairs and debris in the resin. I was disappointed.

I've had hooks break in those tunes twice. I prefer the longer Ommi hooks. I like the shaft and I don't like when they hit the palm of my hand.
I like them too, but I'm a long shaft girl also.
I'm not sure how I feel about these…i use Furls, Clover, and Tulips but normally do Tunisian crochet. $16.99 I'm okay with spending on a maybe though.
